Vocal Coach Analysis: Wé ANI sings two songs in American Idol Top5 Disney Week!

She didn't make it to the final 3, but remains an excellent singer and very good performer... I have enjoyed following Wé Ani's journey in American Idol this season, where she displayed so much variety and flexibility as singer and performer.
Even though she's now out of the competition, I believe she's about to release a brand new song, and that she will go on to have a career that brings joy to many!

Anyone who didn’t know We was not going to win has never watched AI. These themed formats are geared to sabotage the contestants, then since voting is strictly popular with a critically underrepresented voting electorate and has no relationship to skill levels or talent, the most talented almost never wins. However, We has an EP out that is doing well on the iTunes Charts, and today she came out with a new song 175#. So we know now what she was doing on the show, she used it as a springboard for her career. American Idol used her for pump up their ratings, she was the rabbit!

She did exceptionally well! She is the best singer, but American Idol is a popularity contest and the person with most votes wins the popularity contest. But American Idol is a bigger platform than the voice.

'The Climb' was a great performance. The band seemed a little too loud in parts, making her voice some what difficult to hear at times. I'm sad to see her go.

Disney songs are just too simple and commercial - We's back to back of Etta and Whitney showed that she can do anything - it comes down to what she wants do as an artist.

Good gosh, I think We is the next Mariah or Whitney (God rest her soul). I find it abhorrent for others to try to use her as some political or cultural weapon. She is beautiful, both inside and out from what I've seen.

Agreed. The first song fell flat. Well sung, vocally pure, but it just failed to connect with the audience. The second song was on target, very well done! And like you, I was surprised that she was voted out.

Always appreciate your reviews. I can't argue with We's skill as a vocalist and performer, but somehow it doesnt engage me, give me goosebumps or move me in any way. I'm not sure why. 🤷‍♀️

I just got tired of her screechy loud singing. No doubt she's very gifted, and I think that's why she was ultimately voted out. She wasn't someone people connected to and she was too good. She'll do fine without American Idol.

I'm enjoying your reviews. It's interesting to hear a professional viewpoint of their talent and some of the choices they make. I love We Ani and am sorry her journey on AI ended, but hopefully, she's gotten enough exposure from her performances to have a successful "climb" to stardom.

Yes it kinda started off low and slow then the transition to that tempo took away from the feel of the song and seem outta place ... and by the time the end came around , i was like ... " what was that ?" ! Love her "Into the Unknown" though. Btw love your channel !

She should have won. I can admit. Im hawaiian from ewa on oahu.... iam is what bradduh iz was for us. He represents not just polys but people no matter any label u give. His voice is amzing but for a person tk judge anothwr... i was told in army u cant judge anyone until youre perfecr.. you are not. If u are lets hear u sing... point is do not tear down people who are far abpve your level. Period.

I didn't notice the thinness, I just always feel like her first few words are so low and muffled compared to the band several performances.

@@JohanBesterYourVocalCoach In general, I feel like all the contestant's first two or three words are jumbled or muffled a bit to my ear. Especially her because she seems to start in the low register which is hard for me to differentiate with the band.. In other words not clean.

Too over the top, no feeling. Compare to the top 3. She’s been on voice now idol still not make it something is off there. No offence still believe she’s good just lack emotion.
