Great reaction. The song “SOS” is originally from a French-Canadian musical called ‘Starmania’ from the 1970s and is considered one of the five most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash performed here at the 2017 "I AM A SINGER" competition. It is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers where the audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. The audience is the same throughout the entire show, 500 with musical backgrounds and they judge the show by points each week. The competition consisted of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest given that he was completely unknown to the audience. He had been invited as a wildcard and was the first foreigner and youngest person to ever compete in the show. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th, for his rendition of “Adagio”, a song made famous by Lara Fabian. First place went to the famous Chinese 51 y/o singer Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place, however, lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of “Uptown Funk”. Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China. As part of the contest contestants/performers are each required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang “Unforgettable Day”, a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh as well as in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition. Here is the order of Dimash’ss performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11. 1. S.O.S. (French) 2. Opera 2 (Russian) 3. The Show Must Go On (English) 4. Autumn Strong (Mandarin) 5. Uptown Funk (English) 6. Adagio (English) 7. Daididau (Kazakh) 8. Daybreak (Mandarin) 9. All By Myself (English) 10. Unforgettable Day (Mandarin/Kazakh) 11. Bye week - He had already made it into the semis 12. Confessa/Diva Dance (Mandarin/Italian/Alien) (Semi-finals) 13. Michael Jackson Tribute medley (English) (Finals) 14. Give Me Love (Makhabbat ber maghan) (Kazakh) The last performance was part of the 2017 Biennial Concert and not part of the competition. It was broadcast live and is an original song written for Dimash.

Interesting take on the "he doesn't need dance and choreography, people will just come to listen to him because of his vocals!". I always felt that way about comedians. You guys are awesome. I have touched him. He came to Brooklyn last December. Look up the whole concert. I'm the one in the front with the Yellow sweater. He came off stage stood up in front of me. I'm freaking out as I'm holding him up on the railing. Then this happened he grabbed my hand and looked in my eyes said thank you and kissed my hand. I will NEVER forget that magical encounter. He continued to go further out in the crowd. It is worth the time to see that performance. He was SOOOO grateful for our energy. He got to experience the US Dears for the first time ever. You can feel and see how shocked and humble he was to perform with such insane fans. A few times he would just be on his knees in awe of the love he felt from his US fans. Thank you for your awesome energy and talent. I work with clients everyday and they all get SOS in the healing sessions. Enjoy the Dimash rabbit hole :)

I'm an old Dear who loves Dimash and greatly appreciates the effect he has on my life. He feels bad, by the way, when people say he's not human, because he tries so hard to be the best human he can be, and when people say he's not human he feels like he's failed. I don't think he minds being called an angel. Besides being the greatest singer in the world (in my opinion) he is a wonderful person, sweet-natured, humble, hard-working, never complaining... And yet he does know how to have fun, usually him and his friends from the Singer competition, just acting silly and sometimes putting on funny, playful performances. But Dimash's very favorite thing is, singing. From when he was really just a baby, it's all he really wants to do.Some good songs for you to react to are:'Adagio" "Hello" (cover of Lionel Ritchie song)"All By Myself," "Ogni Prieta," "Opera 2,"" "Sinful Passions"...that's enough to get you going. For me SOS is probably his best performance - it has everything - great tune and melody and places where Dimash can truly showcase his abilities from soft breathy emotional cry to full out belt at the top of impossible ranges - all of his performances are truly magnificent and other worldly but SOS is his calling card - for now that is - as there is more to come that is for sure....
