Jimmy bad boy of pub rock in the beginning. Been around for decades. In his 60's now he still can belt it out. John was a teen idol in the beginning. He can sing any genre from pop to opera. Let's not forget the great Diesel (Jimmy's brother inlaw). ALL OF JIMMY'S AND JOHN'S video reactions must be live as their performances are a show in themselves.

Strange you mentioned about opening their eyes more. I personally enjoy watching them sing with their eyes closed. John interacts with his audience talks to them. Stops singing and tells them it’s their turn, and of course a packed house know all the lyrics and sing along. He’s even had them do a Mexican wave, accepts flowers bending over, right in half and keeps on singing. How he does that. I’ll never know. As for Jimmy, he’s another wonderful live performer with his children sometimes singing with him, his grandchildren will be next. His whole family is musically talented. We admire and respect jimmy and John and also the guitarist, Mark Lizotte aka Diesel, Jimmy’s brother in law.

I loved your reaction and anaylis. Us aussies tend to take John's and even Jimmy's voices for granted as they have been the sountrack of our lives for decades. We know how incredible they both are. There'S only 1 other person on the planet that either of these two can really let go with their full vocal power and each still be taking the lead and not overpowering the other, and that's each other. Any one else they sing with they need to dial it down or drop the mike away from their mouth. Except maybe when Jimmy sang with Tina Turner. Even when John sang lead for the Little River Band they sang some perfect and beautiful harmonies but none had the power of John. Would love to hear what you think of some earlier stuff from each of them John with LRB Reminiscing. Jimmy with Cold Chisel Wild Thing.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! It's fantastic to hear from someone who truly appreciates the iconic voices of John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes, both of whom have left an indelible mark on Australian music and culture. You've raised an excellent point about the unique dynamic between these two legends. It's a testament to their immense talent and mutual respect that they can sing together without overpowering each other. When they do collaborate, it's truly something magical, and their performances together are nothing short of legendary.🤙

3 Aussie legends on stage together. 1 born in Scotland, one in England and one in the USA but migrated here as school kids or younger. Good reaction, glad you are enjoying discovering all these new (to you) singers. I know you've reacted to John before, but I think this might be your fist for Jimmy? These are two Australian powerhouse singers and it's great to hear them both let go. Most duets they sing, they have to dial it back ,so they don't overpower. Jimmy duet with Tina Turner is another one where Jimmy could let go. Jimmy Barnes has a great solo career, as well as his earlier time as lead singer for Cold Chisel, just like John was lead singer for 'Little River Band' early on. The guitar solo was Jimmy's brother-in-law, Johnny Diesel from 'Johnny Diesel and the Injectors'.

Thank you so much! It was actually my first time experiencing Jimmy's music, and I was genuinely blown away. The fact that the guitar soloist was Jimmy's brother-in-law adds a whole new layer of appreciation to their incredible chemistry on stage!

Glad you liked it. Another John duet that you might like is his 1997 Crown Casino show with Ray Charles. The rapport is magical. Stumbling along to reactions of this beautiful Sam and Dave song. Jimmy is my favourite artist…. Just ask my family. Had an afternoon snooze this weekend and my son woke me at 5.30 pm with Jimmy singing in the next room. 😂😂😂 Cheeky kid. Cold Chisel, a band Jimmy was in from his teenage years has a live version from 1982 from Dr Kap’s page, or even from Casey Cooper’s with their whole 1982 Germany concert. Jimmy sings the lower vocals in the one you’ve just watched, but the higher notes in the other version. A comparison between the two, well I love them both, but Chisel’s one is just right!

For stage chemistry and performance value it's hard to passed this one. This is however one of the very few ones where I'd recommend checking out the official music video version for a different atmosphere/vibe to the performance. You are wrong, they don’t have similar voices. Jimmy has one voice and is often in later years just a screamer. John is a Chameleon who can sing any genre like it is his natural one including Opera. He is our Legend for a very good reason. He is also kind, humble, funny and an ordinary person. Thank you.

Spot on Jimmy is great under controlled situations like this and the album Soul Deep was superb but live and like you said later In life he's a screamer
@Dr_KAP Жыл бұрын
They both have a similar vocal range. John can sing about 3.8 octaves while Jimmy can do 3.6. It’s just that Johns range starts higher which means he has access to some soprano notes - Jimmy’s voice is lower so he wouldn’t do opera, but his range is equally as impressive. Jimmy sings his upper range with vibrato and often in falsetto to suit the style of music he sings but he does certainly cross genres- having sung rock, soul and blues. Both incredibly talented.
@jeremykothe2847 Жыл бұрын
Jimmy is primal - as we know he took years of honing to perform as smoothly as this. John is... John is... the voice, born with the gift.
@Dr_KAP Жыл бұрын
@@jeremykothe2847 years of honing? Have you heard him sing when he was young?! Some of his best singing was when he was 16-18 pre Cold Chisel. Both great singers from the get go. No need to pitch one against the other.
@jeremykothe2847 Жыл бұрын
@@Dr_KAPoh he's always been awesome. But he took time to develop what you see here. He studied hard in America with some of the greats. His earlier stuff was characterised more by raw power with, yes, "I had a friend, I heard she died" melodies, but he definitely worked hard to develop this blues voice. I love the guy. If I had to erase one from history, I'd have to choose John. I also LOVE John, but Jimmy's emotional, animal connection for me is more important. But I'd of course offer myself up as a sacrifice first :)
