GARY IS A GOOD DRUMMER and he plays the piano and he writes his own music in his own studio. This is his take on Chic Corea's composition which is far different from Al Jarreau's style. He is a very good dancer.

Hi Dounia. Just a little piece of info. Gary V's biggest influence is Al Jarreau. Al Jarreau's classic version of Chick Corea's already classic Spain. Corea wrote it as an instrumental with an intro based on the second movement of Joaquín Rodrigo's guitar concerto Concierto de Aranjuez. Jarreau put lyrics to the whole tune. Gary V went a little further with his own take on it paying homage to Al.

Dounia, thank you so much for reacting and analysing Gary V singing Spain. Chick Corea wrote this as an instrumental and the amazing Al Jerreau added lyrics and made it his own. Al sadly died shortly before Gary's performance, and I think this is his tribute to Al and his artistry.

I am quite surprised that your first male singer introduction into Filipino music is the GOAT of the music industry. In his prime, he is known as a King of Pop in the Philippines, Michael Jackson of the Philippines. Later on the title of Mr Pure energy was added to him because as he aged his stamina in dancing while singing is so incomparable not to mention that he suffered from diabetes and other illnesses in his later years. Check his discography, a variety of genres from pop to ballad to worship songs. I would suggest you check his newest version of his original song, Take me out of the dark. You will find it in his YT account to see a totally different side of his singing.

Hi. Just subscribed to your channel after hearing some of your reactions to Filipino singers - first KZ and then Morissette. And now Gary Valenciano. For your information Gary collaborated with Morissette on a song called 'Will You Be Messiah' (originally arranged and performed by Gary for a musical theatre production). I heard him being interviewed and when he was working on this song with Morissette, he said something to her like, "Everyone knows what a great singer you are. In this song, concentrate on showing emotion..." It's a beautiful song. And Morissette pours her heart out on it. Actually Gary is more of a dancer than an instrumentalist and he dances like a mosquito larvae....I meant the speed of his dance moves. In his more than 40 years in the music industry I never saw him play any.musical instrument. He's already in his mid 50s but still has the same high energy on stage singing while dancing considering he's a long time diabetic. Great that you now start exploring filipino male singers. Compared to filipino female artists the males I believe are just fewer but definitely not least competent. But I admit I like females better which is simply just a preference 😊
