Stell was supposed to do just the front act on David Foster's concert, but he was called over by David during soundcheck and asked if he could perform this song. Before this performance, David showed a video how Celine had to practice a part in the bridge over and over, then told Stell this is his only shot to do this. And Stell, the Heavenly Voice of SB19, delivers.. 😊

Stell didn't have a vocal coaching with David as it was almost impromptu . He was just asked if he could sing that song. no proper rehearsal as they first met when he just came back from a concert prior that night. Only few an hour or 2 left before the concert had to start. He just did a few runs with David.. but no rehearsal as he did not expect to sing that night with all by myself. He was singing the other day and he made it higher. The truth is there's not much of a rehearsal or even vocal coaching on this. Stell was supposed to be just an opening act and not part of the main concert. David just decided on the spot / the day of the concert during rehearsals that Stell would sing "All by Myself". Then they just run through the song once, and voila! This performance already.

Stell was supposed to be only the opening act and he had 3 songs in his set. According to Stell, on the day of the concert, he was supposed to rehearse on stage for the evening's performance (he had only a few hours' rest after flying in with the group from a provincial concert the evening before) but he saw David playing the piano on stage, so he hung around, thinking it wasn't his turn yet. But then David called him and asked if he had his IEM on, and then he was asked to try singing All By Himself. He was a bit confused, but he complied and sang it. After a bit of coaching from David on some parts of the song, Stell was asked if he wanted to perform it that very evening. Apparently, that was his audition. Not wanting to pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity, he readily accepted. So, Stell did not have a lot of time to rehearse although he asked his vocal coach to guide him through the song as he was still unfamiliar with it; he knew a lot was riding on that performance. He dropped hints on social media that he was going to have a special performance besides the opening act just a few minutes before he had to go on stage at 7:45 PM. Of course, the sleuths in the fandom had put two and two together and kinda knew that something was up. So, yeah, we were surprised. Even the audience had no idea Stell was coming back on stage. In fact, not many people there knew who Stell, or SB19, was. The venue was not full even when the opening act was underway, so some in the audience had not seen Stell's opening act performance when he was asked to be on stage to sing "All By Myself."

What makes this performance even more incredible is that Stell was only supposed to be an opening act and this "All By Myself" performance was unplanned, not part of the concert repertoire, and an impromptu challenge from David Foster. It's insane to think that he had already sung three high-pitched and vocally demanding songs, and to top it off, he's not in the best condition (he's sick). I had to mention, too, that a day prior to the concert, SB19 had intense performances at an event. And the elephant in the room-he's a man, hitting the piece in female key and doing it cleanly. Stell is a legend in the making!

David Foster met Stell only during the sound check on the day of the concert. Stell was supposed to be the opening act for the show (he sang All I Ask by Adele, Defying Gravity from Wicked & his own solo song, Room) but David asked him to try to sing his arrangement of All By Myself and then told Stell that they would be performing it that night. When Stell hit that note, David was in shock too. They only had 1 rehearsal because this was an impromptu request. During the rehearsal, Stell is singing more of a falsetto tone but during the event, Stell gave his 101% more. After the show, David even looked for Stell and maybe requesr him back on the stage. Thanks for appreciating his tone. Some just note the belts but the beauty of his tones and voice quality get dismissed. He also sang 3 songs as opening act of David Foster concert in the same event. From front act to one of the main singers/acts (dubbed as David's friends). What promotion that happened on the same day, or to be exact in just a couple of hours. Stell singing ABM is kind of impromptu. During the sound check David asked him if he could try ABM and after (as what I think based on the other clips taken) a couple of runs, that's it. The rest is history. Stell gave a stellar performance that stole the show and trended.❤

Contrary to what you think, there was no real vocal coaching between Stell and David. The reason why they had so much interaction during Stell’s performance was because they had practiced it together once during soundcheck and only then did David ask Stell if he would like to perform it during the main show and afterwards David had highlighted to Stell then what parts he needed to take particular attention to when performing the song. That’s why this performance is all the more impressive. With very little rehearsal together, he nailed it solidly.

Fun fact: Stell did not want to be a singer during his childhood although his parents already saw his potential. He concentrated on dancing and just started serious singing during his training days on SB19. It’s an innate god given talent. By the way the concert was the first time Stell meet David on the same day. He was just recommended to David but there was no meeting before that.

I don't think Stell has one vocal coach. It's his innate talent, although he's been singing since he was a child but the high notes only discovered i think when he became a member of SB19. Though I'm not sure. This is i gained so far reading their story.
