The river was considered the boundary between the world of the living and the dead. She goes to the river and asks for the blessing of marriage. I know very little about “classical” opera, or singing. I do know “Folk, Native American,” and what’s called “Mountain Music” here in the Appalachians...THIS beautiful young lady is a very special GIFT to the rest of us. Two things in this world bring people together...the sharing of food, and music. Music is simply “storytelling.” If she were to be an ancestor of the same lineage as myself, she’d be a “shaman,” or an “oracle.” A holy person to be taught the history of her people through song... and storytelling. Whew, definitely blew me away...her young age be damned lol.

This is an old Russian folk song.
