Dr Dan's Voice Essentials

Dr Dan delivers a comprehensive vocal analysis of Dimash's iconic performance in the Chinese reality singing show, 'I Am Singer', praising his phenomenal six-octave range and his adept navigation through register changes. He lauds Dimash's effective usage of different techniques, such as transitioning from chest to head voice and whistle tones, while also dynamically employing belting and focus in tone.
Highlighting Dimash's multilingual abilities and emotional delivery, Dr Dan also sheds light on his grounded stage presence and commendable body alignment during the performance. He further explores how Dimash harnesses microphone dynamics, sound engineering, and breath management to create a balanced delivery. Lastly, Dr Dan applauds Dimash's versatility, freedom and agility in his voice, especially demonstrated in his perfect runs, while emphasising that such vocal mastery is the product of conscious choices and control.

⚠️ As a singing voice specialist, I fully acknowledge that each live performance is a snapshot in time and does not encapsulate the entire spectrum of an artist's work, nor can it predict their future evolution. I understand that a myriad of factors, both positive and negative, can influence the delivery of a live performance. I strive to appreciate and critique each live rendition for its own merits, independent of the artist's past or potential future performances. Recognising the ebb and flow o live music, I value its spontaneity, novelty, and individuality and strive to give it the thoughtful consideration it deserves.

I want to take a moment to address some changes I've made to the original video. This comes after much reflection and understanding of the passion that fans hold for their beloved artists. I've always aimed to provide thoughtful, respectful and professional analyses of performances. As a vocal coach with 28 years of experience, my objective is to impart understanding and knowledge about the artistry of singing. I deeply value this platform as a space for learning, discussion, and appreciation of music. In response to this, I decided to re-edit the original video. Not because I disown my initial analysis, which was founded on years of professional expertise, but to foster a more harmonious space for all viewers. This step is taken with the intention of allowing focus on the love for music and the insights I can provide rather than discord. Thank you for your understanding and support. Let's continue to celebrate and learn from the amazing world of music together! 🎵

I personally am grateful for your reflection. I actually didn't watch the original video purely because it had such a click bait title. I can understand your concern for Dimash's voice, especially if this was your average artist who probably grew up with maybe one singing lesson a week if they were lucky but this is Dimash, with years of full-time vocal and musical training behind him and a knowledge that he will study with vocal coaches to the end of his creative life. Unfortunately most people only see the songs with the vocal fireworks, only the fans seem to listen to the gentle ballads where dynamics play a much larger part than range. I think Dimash is well aware of what his voice can take, he's already stopped using the whistle notes, I certainly don't think it's because he can't do them anymore but because he no longer wants to push his voice to the limit. He's said many times in interviews that he wishes people wouldn't focus on his range, that it's just another tool that he uses to take people to a fantasy world. You may be interested in a series of videos by a Dear called Lilasi. Called The Ultimate Guide to Dimash, I think it's the second video that where he discusses his training and vocal range. I think you'd find it very interesting.

If you think this sounds like an angel then I would recommend going to Dimash's KZbin channel and watching him perform the new Ave Maria that was written specifically for him by the Russian composer Igor Krutoy. It's literally like hearing your own arrival at the gates of heaven.

I love that with every new country he visits he tries to incorporate a song in the native language into his concert. I also love that he's constantly changing and evolving, he doesn't settle and think well I don't have to try anymore, he's constantly in search of new sounds on his creative journey. Watching the genius of Dimash develop and evolve is truly exciting.

Dimash had won awards before this. That’s why he was invited to participate in the competition. This was a competition of professionals and Dimash was an amateur. He was only supposed to take park in two episodes of the show. After singing this song , so many people voted for him and he had so many fans, they had to get him bodyguards. He was the first non- Chinese to participate in this contest, at 22 years of age, he was the youngest person there. The other contestants called him, “our imported younger brother. Dimash won second place in, “I am Singer”. He stayed in China for almost three years after that competition and he took part in other competitions and performed in China. He won other awards. 😊

At not point during this performance did Dimash access his whistle register. Just because a not is high doesn't mean it must be whistle. Some singers may need to flip into whistle to access the notes Dimash hit in this song, but Dimash doesn't flip into whistle until gets past about F#6, the highest note in this performance was an E6. When Dimash does hit whistle it is very thin and not resonant like the reenforced falsetto he was using here. Dimash just seems to be built different.

I had always heard that whistle register includes the 7th and 8th octaves. Dimash doesn't go that high in SOS.
@stellamarina.
@stellamarina. Жыл бұрын
@@lindahake1666 hello Dear Linda, not everyone can go up to the whistle register, which starts above C6 when the voice sounds like a dog whistle. The whistle register for some rare singers starts higher because of their bigger range. Dimash's whistle register starts in the 7th octave. Unfortunately, many vocal coaches, when they see that the note is above C6, are saying it's a whistle note, without listening that Dimash's is a clear note which doesn't sound as a whistle at all.

As for Dimash's musical choices, I consider 9 strands (all wonderful): (1) Famous songs by Igor Krutoy (famous Russian billionaire pianist), made for other singers and specially adapted for Dimash, arranged by Yerlan ”Erlan” Bekchurin (famous Kazakh arranger and very close friend of Dimash): As an Example, "Love is Like a Dream", Love of Tired Swans... (2) Songs by Igor Krutoy created for Dimash, also with arrangements by Erlan Bekchurin: As an example, “Stranger”, “Passione”, “Your Love”, “Ave Maria”, “Olympico” (Ogni Pietra) ... (3) Songs by Kazakh composers, folk music from Kazakhstan, which speak of Kazakh martyrs or love for the motherland, or moving stories in other countries: As an example, “Durdaraz”, “Elim Menim”, “Salmatau”, “Quiran Elim ” (the latter by Kazakh pianist Renat Gaissin), “Daybreak” (Han Hong), “Marigolds” (Ukrainian folk song), among many others... (4) Songs composed by Dimash himself, with arrangements by him and lyrics by others (the famous poetess Lila Vinogradova, for example): Like the very current “The Story Of One Sky” or the impressive “War And Peace” (5) Songs composed by Dimash himself, with arrangements by him and Erlan Bekchurin, talking about youthful love, honoring his idols, such as Michael Jackson and Lara Fabian, or honoring fans from other countries: As an example, “Be With Me” , “Unforgatabble Day” (the Kazakh version of Gakku is insane), “Give Me Your Love”, “Golden”, “Screaming”, “Zhalyn”; “El Amor En Ti”, “Fly Away” ... (6) Songs composed by Dimash's brother (Albimansur “Mansur” Quidabergen, 16 years old) and with lyrics by Dmitry Goubnitskiy and arrangements by Erlan Beckchurin: As an example, “Together”. (7) Covers of famous songs in several languages: “SOS” (French - Starmania), “Hello” (English - Lionel Richie), “Ikanaide” (Japanese - Koji Tamaki), “All By Myself” (English - Eric Carmen /Celine Dion), “Opera2” (Russo - Vitas), “Adagio” (Lara Fabian), among many others... ... (8) Video game theme music made exclusively for Dimash: Like the song “Ocean Over The Time”, theme song for the game “Moonlight Blade Online” composed by Thomas Parisch.Theme song for game (the Hollywood Music in Media Award for "Best Original Song in a Video Game" in 2017). (9) Theme song of cinematographic film (Original Motion Picture) - “Across Endless Dimensions” - Italian science fiction film “Creators - The Past”, 2020. Author and director of the film, as well as composer of the music: Piergiuseppe Zaia. Music made exclusively for the interpretation of Dimash. We can not fail to mention other fantastic interpretations of Dimash, as examples: His version for the song "Go GO Power Rangers" (from the Power Rangers series), in addition to the versions that Dimash made for the song "Diva Dance" (from the movie " The fifth Element").

This song is a pearl of the French songbook: It is a French-Canadian cyberpunk-rock opera called “Starmania”, written in 1976 by Michel Berger (France) and with lyrics by Luc Plamondon (Canada) and immortalized in the voices of Daniel Balavoine, Diane Dufresne and Gregory Lemarchal. The theme of the song is depression: In the 2021 version, Dimash faithfully and brilliantly presents a sentimental and melancholy interpretation! As the singing decisions follow the original structure of the song, which serves to show the psychological instability of the afflicted character: From the chest voice to the head voice and then to falsetto, the author sought to show a broad need to overcome a moment of despair and the pretense of accepting to reach a higher perspective! Dimash, currently at his concerts, dedicates this song to his friends and acquaintances who have departed this world! Original version - Daniel Belavoine - kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5y9pneeqrmerqc

What can I say if you said it all? Luc Plamondon wrote the lyrics of SOS about a very distraught young man who just lost his lover causing him extreme questioning of his own existence. Finally being by her lifeless body, he is able to let her go “in peace“ with the words ‘sleep, my child, sleep’. It is a part of an french Rock-Pop opera released in 1979: Starmania. One of the 5 most difficult songs in French language. It was recorded by Daniel Balavoine in 1979 or so and Grégory Lemarchal won of the French reality singing competition Star Academy 2004 with this song.

I watched your analysis of the different SOS performances. I respectfully disagreed with your analysis on that video. In 2017, Dimash did not have the fine tuned ability to add as much air available in his vocal arsenal. He has perfected this ability as well as developed a much lower register since 2017. I am in agreement with many comments, Ikaniade at the Tokyo Jazz Festival is a must watch to gain an understanding at how well he uses air to convey emotions. It is a stunning performance. However, you are correct that he bears a heavy vocal load and his voice will change as he ages. We all must face the changes that aging brings. As the vocal beast that he is, I fully expect Dimash to adjust to these issues and change his vocal approach to accomadate it. May he have many years to enthrall us with his instrument. I wish him sustained health and stamina.

I appreciate your thoughtful feedback and the respectful way you've presented it. It's clear you have a deep understanding and appreciation of Dimash's talent and evolution as a singer. You're absolutely right that Dimash has continued to refine his technique, including his use of air and development of his lower register, since 2017. His performance at the Tokyo Jazz Festival is indeed a testament to his emotional expressivity and technical prowess. Your point about the inevitable impact of aging on a singer's voice is also well-taken. I agree wholeheartedly that Dimash, with his remarkable talent and dedication, will continue to adapt his technique as needed to continue delivering breathtaking performances. Thank you for your wishes for Dimash. His health and stamina are indeed vital for him to continue sharing his exceptional gift with us. Here's to many more years of being enthralled by his extraordinary talent!

Dr. Dan, thanks for your detailed reply to my comment on the original posting of this analysis video. I think there are two lenses that people look and listen to Dimash thru - a fan/singer's lens and a fan's lens. I appreciated your original video, as I have also worried about DQ's voice as we discussed thru the comment section. Fan's often get upset if I write my concerns even when written with great respect; they will comment back along the lines of "Dimash knows how to take care of his voice; do you really think he'd do something to hurt his voice" and it's in a really defensive attacking way :) :). But being a singer and being a human is complicated; and when one is pushing for mega stardom, the pressure, the pushing, the "vocal load" can take a serious toll. So now if I have a concern, I write to them directly rather than in the comments; VERY rarely!!! But I have a few times. I DM'd his Dad this morning for the first time. I rarely write to Dimash or his Mom, but I have just a rare few time DM'd them with a thought or idea or concern. On his Mom's IG DM and his DAD's there is "from me" a long comment expressing my deep care and also my concern about his voice that I had made some time back on someone else's video. It was actually posted to Dimash's Dad's DM and his Mom's by someone else who wrote that they agreed with my concerns and apparently thought his parents should read it as well. This morning, after seeing your video last night, I felt the need to update my comment in a fresh way on my same concern, and so I DM'd his Dad who is always with him. Never hurts to try. When you love someone, you want to protect them at all costs; even at your own expense, even at the cost of your own happiness with them. I would love to meet Dimash after a concert, but I would love it more if he protects that greatest of voices, and I would MUCH rather NOT meet him, and let him REST!! Having seen so many singer's voices destroyed over the years, and seeing how hard Dimash pushes himself, I fear for that GREATEST of all voices. I've seen many of the "greats" live in my life: Pavarotti, Bocelli, Groban, Streisand 3 times, Houston 2 times, Mathis, Brightman and others. NEVER in my life has any singer moved me, astounded me, impressed me, or brought involuntary tears to my eyes as has Dimash. Never have I heard that kind of resonant tonal richness, quality and glassy roundness as I've heard in Dimash - absolute angelic purity and perfection!!!. This quality of voice has never existed before on the planet and may never again. And I would be heartbroken for him if it ever was damaged from pushing too hard to sing too much or too long in concerts as has been the case for so many singers whose once beautiful voices are now in tatters - which apparently non-singers don't seem to even notice! So I appreciated your analysis. As I mentioned, the versions of SOS in your selection where worthy of concern, however that was a small sampling. While I still worry about that voice from a 'SINGER'S" perspective and shared that with Kanat, Dimash's Dad, this morning - having already done so to his Mom and to Dimash directly in the past, there are many performances in the last few years as I noted in my reply to you such as The Story of One Sky, Ikanaide, and his recent concerts in Almaty, Armenia and Turkey, where I think he is really OK - his voice was pure and glassy in all three and especially in Turkey!!!; I have watched the full concerts in their entirety at Alamty, Armenia and Turkey. And again, his shows this tour are not only paced fantastically in order to give Dimash REAL solid rests thru out the show, they are ALSO spaced far apart in the tour. He does not do shows several times a week, they are months apart or at the shortest a full 6 days separate one show from the next!!! :) :) YAY!!!!. So something has changed in his camp. When I first heard that his first show for the start up of this current tour in the Stadium in Alamty was a concert for over 3 hours, and a fan who attended wrote me and said "he sang straight thru for 3+ hours", I was saddened to say the least!!. But having seen the posted YT videos of his concerts in their entirety in this tour, he has REALLY LONG breaks, which I just breathe a great sigh over and am thrilled about!!! :) :). So I really appreciated!! your video and your concern or analysis presented in the way that you did it!!! But non singers, probably may not be able to appreciate it in the same way as singers would. And this will upset some fans, but he does LS on a few songs in his shows, and people get really upset if you say that, but I AM ALL FOR IT! It doesn't take away AT ALL my respect and appreciation for him. In Armenia, the track cut out on stage while he was LSynking to The Story of One Sky!! And he sang the 2nd 2/3rds of The Story of One Sky LIVE....and it was very different from the recording that he normally LS's to - but it was THRILLING just the same :). Again, it is understandable that on some songs, the most difficult and vocally demanding songs, he might need to do that. On the songs he actually sings 100% live which is 98% of the show, they are never 100% exactly the same from concert to concert, but the ones that are 100% exactly the same in every minute detail including the sound of the breaths - to the videos or previous shows, are the ones that he LSs to, like TSofOS. Having had that little miss up in Armenia, in TURKEY he then sang the first 3rd of the song CLEARLY LIVE, and I LOVED IT MORE, and then the track comes in and the rest was 100% exactly like the Music Video and NOT at all like the truly LIVE last 2/3rds he HAD to do in Armenia. But whatever he has to do to protect that Stradivarius voice of his, I AM ALL FOR IT!!! DO IT!! Thanks again, sorry for my long reply, but YOU seem to really know about voices and hear WHAT I HEAR TOO! Whenever I hear that fatigue or "reedy" sound in a great voice, as a singer, it really concerns me - THAT is the sound of danger!! AND I for one appreciate your thoughtful concerns; if you want to educate yourself and advance in anything, you can't just look at the favorable information, it's important to know what potential dangers and risks are possible in order to train well and protect one's self from those dangers. If you want to scale Mt. Everest and you only know about the "good stuff" and are not open to knowing what the dangers are and how to protect yourself, well....good luck! :) Best to you and thank you again!!..

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and in-depth comment. I can feel the genuine concern and admiration you have for Dimash, and it's people like you who truly contribute to the depth and richness of the conversation. I appreciate your understanding of my analysis and your insights from a singer's perspective. It's true that singing, especially at Dimash's level, can present a unique set of challenges, and it's essential to be aware of the potential for vocal strain and damage. Your careful observations about his recent performances and your appreciation of the measures taken to protect his voice are heartening. It's fantastic that you're noticing the spacing between shows and his well-timed breaks. I completely agree with you that lip syncing on some songs could be a smart strategy to protect such an extraordinary voice. Your efforts to communicate your concerns directly to his family shows the depth of your care and understanding. It's crucial for us, as fans and fellow singers, to have these discussions to spread awareness and understanding about vocal health. Thank you once again for your constructive input and for the respect you have for the art of singing and for Dimash's extraordinary talent. I'm looking forward to more insightful comments from you in future discussions.

I absolutely agree with you. I have been following Dimash for 6 years and it gets on my nerves, how some Dears fight to blood to persuade others, that he never lipsyncs 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have been to three of his concerts (Astana, Prague, Almaty) and it it very clear, that he has to lipsync some of the most difficult songs... Who else gives concerts lasting more than three hours, singing 100% live? Especially if we talk about a voice that Dimash has? Nobody! He needst to rest his vocal cords during the concert .... And I don't mind, even lipsyncing some songs or parts of them, it's still his voice, and he proved to us many times, that he can do it all live ❤️

@@dear4dimash_lenka143 Thank you very much! I am so glad to receive a comment from someone who is thinking about Dimash's health and long term well being, instead of thinking only about their personal gratification that they can take from him or get from him!! I do on the one hand understand that his fans just want what they want, I get that they want to connect with him. But they don't really understand how delicate the human voice is - it's not like a violin or guitar where if they are damaged you can just go out and by replacement parts or buy a whole new instrument; once you damage your voice it may or may not be reparable. So thank you for understanding!!! And thank you for loving Dimash enough to think ABOUT HIM and his long term vocal health!!!! instead of thinking only about what we want from him!!!! Best to you!! I’m looking for your recent analysis on Dimash comparing 4 of his SOS performances where you claim that Dimash’s voice is fading and and has become unsupported and airy over the years. Please analyse Diana Ankudinova - another incredible singer, with a unique voice (really), great musicality and artistry, and able to deliver pure emotive power from a very young age. Check out some of her earlier iconic TV performances ~14/15 years old: Rechenka, Wicked Game, Blizzard, and from a few years later: I Can't Help Falling In Love. Dimash even recommended her to his fans.

I know you were specifically referring to Dimash's linguistic skills, and to "Starmania" having originally been written/sung in French. But, just to avoid any confusion between the term "French" being used to refer to the language VS the term "French" being used to refer to the French nationality, I am just going to point out that "Starmania" is actually considered a Canadian - French (or Quebec - French) Rock Opera. Luc Plamondon, a French Canadian from Quebec, wrote Starmania's book and its songs. And Michel Berger, an European French from France, composed its music. It trully is a Canada/France co-production, with an original cast that featured French Canadian (Claude Dubois, Diane Dufresne, Fabienne Thibeault) European French (Daniel Bellavoine, France Gall, Éric Estève), and American Canadian (Nanette Workman) artists. Since the video is more about Dimash's singing and multilingual abilities, rather than the countries "Starmania" originated from, it wasn't super important for you to mention it within your video. But, since I grew up with those songs, "Starmania" is such a beloved part of Quebec's cultural heritage, and we can be pretty passionate about it, I thought it would be good to have the information featured somewhere in the comments, at least. 🤗❤️ Otherwise, as a native French speaker, I must say that Dimash did a pretty outstanding job with his French, indeed! 👌 I think the only slight mistake I've picked up is when he says "pourquoi je ris". i.e. He'll very audibly sing the "s" at the end. Technically, the "s" is meant to be silent. The verb "rire" ends in "is" in the 1st person singular, and in "it" in the 3rd person singular, but both endings are pronounced exactly the same while totally ignoring the "s" and the "t". But that's really me "nitpicking" here, given that it's something that sounds a bit grammatically incorrect to the ear and that goes beyond someone having an accent while pronouncing the words. Because otherwise, his pronunciation is pretty much superb! A+! Does he have an accent? For sure! But let's say that I'm a rather firm believer in avoiding to treat people's accents when speaking (or singing in) a foreign language as mistakes or flaws. First, even native speakers will use different accents and ways of pronouncing the same French (English, Spanish, etc.) words, all depending on where they are from. And second, each language has its own unique set of phonetics. So, as long as you get the sense that the person is aiming for the right sounds and doing their best to approximate them using their own phonetic abilities, and the words being spoken and/or sung remain perfectly recognizable/understandable, they are doing just fine! Not to mention that I think that singers will often modify certain vowels to make reaching certain notes easier, or improve sound placements and the flow of a phrase. And here, I could easily understand every single word of French he was singing and the accent he used in some places was absolutely lovely! So kudos for that! Otherwise, very interesting analysis, and one thing that really stood out, for me, is that you can actually use twang all the way into that upper register!!! 😯😳😯 I mean, technically I *knew* that from your exercises (the ones on "twang" keep going pretty high), it's just that, for some reason, my brain has a tendency to associate "vocal power" and "volume" with the use of the TA muscles and especially "belt"... I'd never quite realized the role that twang could play in creating a much fuller sound in general, too! I *think* I might already have been adding a bit of twang to my upper register on certain songs that I'm having a hard time "powering up" at the top, but I might try to pay more attention to what I'm doing, and play with that specific mechanism a bit more, to see if I could find ways to improve sound quality a bit (within reasonable limits). It's very interesting to get a sense of what's happening / what we are hearing, though... So thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos for us. It's much appreciated! 🤗❤️

The pronunciation of the s at the end of certain words in this performance was really surprising to me as I've heard him sing SOS in performances both before and after this and he's always pronounced it correctly. I do wonder if someone mistakenly advised him during practice that he was pronouncing it wrong?
@TheLostGirl21

@@debbiemorgan859 It could be... I mean, when certain languages are learned in an academic setting, but otherwise not frequently spoken and heard by a person in their day to day life, it's pretty natural for them to forget about and/or confuse certain rules over time. I've learned to pronounce Spanish in college, but there are certain words where I'd go: "I *think* that's a silent letter... Probably... Maybe?" without being sure. He could very well have encountered someone that once learned French, was 100% convinced that you needed to pronounce those "s" to clearly mark the verb tenses at the end of them, and followed their advice. Who knows?! It's not like that made the word unrecognizable, or took something away from the performance itself, either. Knowing how complex and filled with exceptions French is, I'm much more impressed regarding how much he's gotten right, and touched by the amount of care and efforts that must have gone into learning it. It's an absolutely beautiful performance that shows great consideration and respect for the original material - and those that wrote and composed it - that is filled with a lot of heart, nuance, and emotion, and I'm grateful for it. ❤️

Dr. Dan, while I really appreciated the earlier version of this video comparing Dimash’s performances over the years and found it insightful, it seems that some others were not as receptive! 😳 I was a bit surprised by some of the commenters who felt the need to defend Dimash from what they perceived as an attack. I think it speaks to the power of singing (and yes, celebrity too) that some fans can be so overwhelmingly devoted to a favorite singer because of the profound way the music touches them. Unfortunately, it seems some negative reaction was directed at you. I think it is difficult for some to think of their favorite singers as susceptible to fatigue, stress, and the everyday rigors we “mere mortals” face.

I watched that video at 2:00 am EST last night before I went to sleep. Like you, I was looking for that video today to give some comments. But I have to say, from over 100 comments I saw last night, I didn't see a single negative comment about the reactor. Some did not agree with the reactor when he said that Dimash's more breathy start of the song showed that he had a tiring voice and pointed out that Dimash has used that approach more in recent years to evoke emotions. They also recommended the reactor watch Ikanaide. The reactor was also very polite in his replies. I don't think expressing disagreement in a respectful way is "negative" as you put it. We need different opinions and we need to accept them. When I initiate something at work, I never expect 100% of my colleagues to agree with that. By the way, I came here to say that although I don't think Dimash's recent use of breathy vocals is a sign of his tiring voice, I do notice that he has to try harder to reach high notes. He is still an amazing, amazing singer. I hope he can keep his voice well so that he can continue bringing joy to millions of people who love him.
@debbiemorgan859

@@christine4109 I don't necessarily think he has to try harder to reach the high notes, I think it depends on how he's approaching them. I think at certain times he's finding it harder to reach the mixed belts but I think that's actually down to his overall fitness level rather than his vocal ability. Watching from concert to concert and knowing all the circumstances surrounding them you can clearly see where he's being pushed too hard and hasn't had enough time to either exercise or rest. When the Stranger tour started in Almaty he'd been exercising regularly, going running every day and even actually singing as he was running. He performed a 4 hour concert and barely broke a sweat. In the 4 days before Yerevan he'd opened a chess tournament, performed for his old university, flown to Armenia, held radio and TV interviews, visited local sites and you could tell he was already exhausted when the concert started. Then he did Antalya and he had time to rest, go for walks with his friends and we saw an entirely different Dimash on stage, in good voice and good spirits and absolutely having a blast on stage. The trouble is that he's too good natured and well mannered to say no. His team need to stop treating him like a machine and make sure he gets exactly what he needs to be able to do what he does.

@@debbiemorgan859 He was amazing in Prague and Almaty. I noticed his struggle with higher notes and his breath was less stable in the Yerevan concert. I've not had time to watch the Antalya concert. It is awesome to know that it was just one-time thing. I will be very, very sad if his voice deteriorates while he has not been famous in the US (just my dream, not his dream :) ) But I already said to myself, aging happens to everyone, imagine what people feel like when their favorite dancer cannot dance anymore.

It would serve this kid better once he matures and become wiser to consider the application of the following general rules: 1. Quite often and probably more often than not "less is more". 2. Serve the song (make the song sound good to the audience) rather than serve the singer (making yourself look good). 3. Most likely than not there is no need to demonstrate all your skills in the one song because it may come across as overkill.

This child is wise and mature enough - then, 7 years ago and now. 1. Your wise general rules do not apply at all in this situation. 2. When you are 22 years old, when you participate in a program with famous and already established singers in another country, when they invited you with a wild card as a foreigner and expect you to be eliminated in the first or second round, after voting by an audience that does not knows you and hears about you for the first time... When you perform first in the first round - your rules do not work at all. 3. And looking at the audience, I think that the song was received exactly as it should be and sounds exactly as it should be. Oh, and let me tell you that this song had 600 million views overnight on Weibo, it was well received, and the program was watched by nearly 1 billion on this TV. If you knew a little more about this artist, your second rule would be unnecessary 😁

You have all the professional words and the years of experience to analyze a singing performance. But, you’re reaching. Both performances you pick are completely different. The first one, though not dimashs introduction to the stage was a real trial to any singer. The first prtformance of the competition, the performance of the night and season and the first performance in a Chinese competition with Dimash as a wild card to upset the other professional singers and he probably would only be there once or twice not a serious competitor. Very few vocal coaches with as much experience and talent as you and very few reactors and students don’t give this a “10”. It’s not a 10 because his French isn’t perfect. Everybody still gives this a 10. You have to create the flaw vocal fatigue. You have to say the best singer in the world statement is subjective because you’re ignorant and unknowing. That’s not stupid. You don’t have enough experience in the Dimash world. Your two reactions to Dimash are like listening to Taylor swift when she’s sang a concert of 20 songs or 20 concert venues in a row. That would be vocal fatigue. The second performance was at the EMI’s a fashion show where Dimash has come from a complete performance venue. Concert to a venue without out his soundboard man. Michael like Dimash was in tune with his sound guy for every single note and especially the offsets. It was obvious at the beginning of the song the sound guy messing with Dimashs offsets. Dimash is a master vocalist, a master at mic control, and a master at many things involving music that we don’t even know sometimes what this adult prodigy can and is doing because it’s not seen and there are no credirpts. The 2021 digital concert show streamed in 2021 during Covid for $10 a download was live and shows more of dimashs manny talents and perfection. His sos and his French are better as he improves and protects as he ages. For this show he himself hires 400 hundred people to put this on in his warehouse studio. All the performance arts writing of instruments lighting sound camera, everything is independently his. Some venues singers don’t have control of their surroundings and ambience. The sos at EMI was one of those Dimash had to make up what squeal whistle note he did for what was going on at the soundboard as the song went on. Many professionals at the onset of sos see immediately dimashs technique and talent as I did. That this is no other singer. That this is in a class of its own. As lady Gaga has carved out her own path and won’t let people compare or pit her against her idol Madonna so had Dimash. You just don’t have the experience within the Dimash library of live shows which he lives for. Fatigue is a weak analytical when this person doesn’t smoke, drink, practices vocals 3 times a day from a child, deep dive swims everyday for lung capacity, writes his own stuff has to because of his 7 to 8 octave range (we don’t know) collabs but at 29 is still independent with no signed producer. Was not treated well in America. Doesn’t need America nor you a kind of analytical person that has to search for flaws afford something to say. Oh you know things but you still ignorant to the Dimash library of over 140 live videos on his channel and music video soundtrack and Mini movies. I’m a dear but not a dear doesn’t see what you’ve done. You didn’t like the world of music proclaiming one singer as the best vocalist in the world. But the opera and the classical world vocal historians and professors go further than that. He’s the best vocalist in 300 hundred years and their students come to him to learn and call him master. You’re behind. You didnt go to wikipedia and read for two hours (everything not being perfect there as they can’t keep up). You are really small and unknowing to the world of Dimash. You have your channel and other reactions to make. Dimash doesn’t need you, me, americas auto tuned pop radio music to be successful. If he’s not on the radio it’s his choice not because he can’t. We need Dimash here he doesn’t need us. Dimash started his young life (5yrs old) competing and now judges in competitions he competed in. Thought many times to be lip syncing live uses many mic techniques with tricks to prove he’s not. I only saw a couple of your reactions to Dimash and just got tired of a professional saying all the right technical words, then but. Dimash is a world. Having completed two masters and in his doctorate back home refusing a seat at the Astana Opera house in a country that owns it artist and athletes Dimash said no. Offered a film school scholarship in LA at a New York film school his talents are far reaching not for you to find two sos performances that were good but I could see and hear that somebody was not right at the board and he had to improvise his vocals. In his vocal trading in classical and opera his teacher would not let him use falsetto. Dimash breaks all the rules from this stiff world and uses the rules maybe in a whole aria or opera then mixes and matches genres in a whole song as he desires. Many times reactors want him to do a certain genre or does he do this or that. We don’t dictate that for an artist. We explore. With an artist like this he’s done most genres and some new we’ve never heard before. Dimashs stage is the world and you tube - the top artist. Why would he need the processed over produced music in America. Harvard not juliard needs a Dean of Music.
