Chinese audience are not easy to impress because they have strong sense of nationalism. But this guy blew the roof that evening and became China sensation in just one night. That's how epic that performance was.

@josephanna9349 Me either, he's always improving. Listening to his new song Omir made me cry without knowing the words (didnt turn CCs on till later). I felt the song first. Plus magnum opus is for, when you are at later end of your career. Dimash has many years of creativity left.

Dimash was offered to work at the opera house, but he refused. It was boring for him. He decided to continue his education in order to study different singing styles. And now we see that he did the right thing.

👉 This was a historic moment and is Dimash’s calling card. That is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (That is what Dimash calls us fans.) The best comment from a Dear under the first video: „If you are having a bad day, remember, someone had to sing after him.“ 🤣 That one moment when a vlogger first hear Dimash and is instantly mesmerized by it... priceless and beautiful to watch. I love it! This song is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight in 2017 (The Singer). The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' (1978) and is known in the English-speaking world as Tycoon (1995). Music: Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon (French original text). The English adaptation is by Tim Rice. That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day bodyguards were at his door and now he is a superstar but without airs... just our Dimash. The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to KZbin ... and so we became Dimash's Dears. The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. Won). * Original: Daniel Balavoine - SOS d'un terrien en détresse (Starmania) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5y9pneeqrmerqc * Dimash - The Singer 2017 - behind the scenes (English subtitiles) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmKXgIqXiNWsoZo (Thanks to all Dears who helped to complete the information)

Thank you for your reaction. I believe that Dimash is a Music Virtuoso of our time. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to attend Dimash's first solo Concert in USA. It was his Arnau-Envoy Concert held at Barclays in New York City, December 2019. To see and hear Dimash perform this song and other songs live... is an experience that you never forget. Dimash is the ultimate singer and performer. He engages with his audience and in turn when Dimash prompts... his Fans (Dears) sing certain songs along with him. It is quite something to experience. I have been a follower of his music genius since May 2017, when I watched Dimash perform SOS on stage at a Paris, France TV show, "Les Annees Bonheur" (uploaded to Patrick Sebastien KZbin Channel, the emcee off the show). Dimash received a standing ovation from the audience and emcees of the show. The "SOS" song is revered in France and by Dimash's own admission recently; SOS has become his "Calling Card". This song pretty much shows most of his attributes as a marvellously gifted and trained singer. Dimash has performed Songs in over 13 languages, a multi-instrumentalist, graduated with Major Vocal in Bel Canto, a Major Vocal in Pop, Jazz (Modern), and with a Master Degree in Music Composition. He is currently working on his Phd in Cultural Studies. Dimash is the real deal in bringing real music (Neo-classic / Crossover) back to the Music Industry... it has been sorely lacking.

This song is a pearl of the French songbook is a Canadian-French cyberpunk-rock opera called Starmania, written in 1976 by Michel Berger (France) and with lyrics by Luc Plamondon (Canada) and immortalized in the voices of Daniel Balavoine, Diane Dufresne and Grégory Lemarchal. The song's theme is depression: In the 2021 version, Dimash faithfully and brilliantly presents a sentimental and melancholy interpretation! As the singing decisions follow the original structure of the song, which serves to show the psychological instability of the distressed character: From chest voice to head voice and then falsetto, the author aimed to show a broad need to win a long of desperation and the need to reach a very high perspective! Dimash, currently in his concerts, dedicates this song to his friends and acquaintances who left this world! Original version - Daniel Belavoine - kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5y9pneeqrmerqc

I've probably listened to Dimash sing SOS 200 and more times while watching reaction videos. Despite how many times I've listen to it; Dimash singing SOS still brings tears to my eyes and leaves me goosebumped. Your reaction, comments and analysis were one of the better here on KZbin. Your finite understanding of and opinion on how the voice box and mouth form notes brought your review to the forefront for me. The majority of reactors are gobsmacked and don't have a clue of what to say. Thank you for such an intelligent discussion about Dimash’s talents and how he produces superior sound. I'd trust to look into lessons with you; however, with my COPD, I have no breath control. Keep it up! 👍

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than twelve(12) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "POPera" he also has a very pleasant, HUMBLE and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, counter TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato,whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from USA 🇺🇸 "Dears" Forever ❤️ Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. Thank you. This is from 2017 and there are several more performances of SOS by Dimash since then. He has been working on this one song since his teen years. He is constantly improving. He continues to practice 3 hrs a day (as he has his entire life) and he continues to learn and have lessons. Dimash IS music. He lives and breathes music. He sings constantly. Dimash is the best singer/vocalist on the planet. Each and every song gives you goosebumps and tears and leaves you in awe. Loved listening to your analysis and thoughts. :) He calls his singing 'neoclassical' btw. He did not hit his whistle register here. He has gone up to D8 when he sang in Gakku 'Unforgettable Day'. He has thrown in whistle at varying times and it is always shocking.

Thank you, Spencer, for your insightful and comprehensive analysis of Dimash's performance. The high level of respect as a vocal coach with which you hold his talent is readily apparent. It is in his live performances that Dimash uses his voice as an artist uses a brush to paint colour and texture, and light and shade. The dynamics of his performances clearly convey the emotion of the song, transcending language. I have subscribed to your channel so I can watch your journey through the world that is Dimash. I expect that somewhere along the line, you will begin to question notions about whether limits on the scope of the human voice really exist after all. [Spoiler Alert: Dimash regularly transcends those constructs.] Dimash routinely hits an F6 - the top note in the Queen of the Night’s aria in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte" -- with no strain evident on his face or neck and fully supported by his entire body. He does this in "Love of Tired Swans," "Love Is Like A Dream," "Passione, " "Ogni Pietra (Olympico)," a new version of "Ave Maria," and “Stranger.” Ukrainian-born Russian composer and impresario Igor Krutoy came out of retirement to work on these new pieces with Dimash after watching his 2018 Sochi performance of "Sinful Passion." As an added treat in “Sinful Passion,” Dimash gave us a stellar example of the 17th-century Italian "trillo," which denotes the "Monteverdi trill," also known as the "goat's trill." You frequently refer to your keyboard to determine the notes Dimash is delivering. At some point, you will likely listen to "Unforgettable Day" (which Dimash wrote in Russian) in his Gakku concert. There, you will hear a note from Dimash that goes beyond the upper limits of your piano keyboard to a D8.

Welcome to Dimash world! You haven’t seen anything jet!!! This is about 1/3 or so what he can do! Please react to the same songs but from different places and times because he changes them a bit every time please also watch the hole videos through because something might happen just that time…(Like Dimash hitting a D8!!! Yepp higher then the piano can go!!!) It's so fun for us "Dears" (that’s what Dimash calls his fans because he loves us as a dear family) to see how people react to him. Some info about Dimash. He is born in May 24 1994. He is from Kazakhstan and has been music schooled sense 5 years old and told the teacher that the piano was out of tune! He sings about 7 octaves or so! No one knows he is still learning. He sings higher than the piano can go! He also writs and compose own songs, plays bunch of instruments including Dombra there own Kazakh instrument that has a sound you can’t believe and onley 2 strings! He also sings in about 14 (Kazakh, Turkish, Usceck, Russian, Ukranian, Serbien, Bulgarian Chinese , Italien, Spamish, French, English, German, Japanese ) languages and speaks 3 so far (Kazakh, Russian and English). Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition. He graduated with a degree in opera from the music school at the University of Aktobe (2014), a degree in pop/jazz from the National Arts University in Nur Sultan (2018), just completed his Master's degree in composition (June 2020) and have started his PhD. He have done some contests in his life but the one I think got the worlds intension is "The Singer" (Allso called "I am a singer" or "Singer") from China in 2017. The Singer is a program for established Chinese singers to face off against each other invites only in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500. Dimash Qudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside). They also got him the nickname "Imported little brother" the day after the show. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night. Dimash got many new friends from this show and he said at some point he learned a lot from it to. Here are the You Tube videos of Dimash's performances in The Singer 2017 and also The Singer 2018 he was invited to perform at the gala show they did. Also from 2019 there "The Super Vocal boys" invited him to sing with them! Episode 1 : 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' (A Soul's Plea For Help) In French. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXTamo2ae99padk Episode 2 :'Opera 2' in Russian! The best moment in this show was just after Dimash started thanking everyone and saw his father there. He didn’t know he was there. Just after they got out of that room Dimash turns to his father and asks if he did good! When Dimash was gonna go in to the other contestants he again turned to his father and asked him if he done good! That’s the kind of man he is humble, loving and respectful. kzbin.info/www/bejne/noHNdoilhcxgl8k Episode 3 : 'The Show Must Go On' In English You have never heard it like this! kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIGbgqytqLeFsLM Episode 4 : 'Late Autumn' In Mandarin!!! He learned this song in 1 week in mandarin to thank the warm welcome from the Chinese people. Gloria Wu's channel has back-story on what the song is about. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5Cue6aEaMxqm6M Episode 5 : 'Uptown Funk' In English. Not his best but I love this song and his attempt on a fast song with lots of energy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/enO6kH2sn96ZjtU Episode 6 : 'Adagio' In English and also playing piano kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWG1coSvrpVrhdU Episode 7 : 'Daididau' In Kazakh and some parts in Chinese. He also plays Dumbra. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5fNYXhsit1-l5I Episode 8 : 'Daybreak' (Tiān liàng le- Han Hong original artist and writing it!) In Chinese! This is the one reaction I think you should do from 2 different versions do to following... Gloria Wu's channel has the back-story about the song that is so sad and from a life story about a boy losing his parents in an awful way. Also you get to hear how Dimash sounds like then loosing his voice the day of the show!!! When he went on he didn’t know if he could sing. Looking close at the other contestants they where so worried about him. He lost his voice again after. Li Jian another contestant bought him a very very expensive Chinese medication for him so he could get better soon! kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4mqd2qsnKqMgc0 The other one is from his own show in Bastau the same year. Hear you can see what he can do with the song. Fun to know which you like more. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJy9hX2ggdR3bJY Episode 9 : 'All by Myself' In English and you haven’t heard it like this! Wait to the end for some extra fun! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqCUXqWqhc6HaNU Episode 10 : 'Unforgettable Day' In Kazakh and I think some translation in Chinese to. If I remember correct he wrote the music to this one when he was 19 years old and lyrics by Oral-kosai Baisengir, who was a poet/lyricist father of a friend of Dimash. Also in this show another contestant "Terry Lin" that was about 51 years young here he considered Dimash a dear friend at this point. But Dimash started telling them al he was his father around episode 9 I think!! That is a big respect and love from his part of the world to call him! Terry was gladly accepting it. They are still that close and also invites each other to there concerts and sometimes singing this song in duet to. They sang it in Jackie Chang movie festival in 2019 and Jackie was choked in how good they were. Terry was known as an alien before Dimash and they have similar vocals to. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXLbY5-KiKdkhqs From the concert in GAKKU you will be stund!! He sings it a bit different to say the least!!! Would be fun see what you think of that one too. Dimash Qudaibergen - Unforgettible day GAKKU kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2aViXefoctpaJo Episode 11 : (did not participate) He was already a finalist. Episode 12 : 'Confessa & The Diva Dance Confessa in Mandarin/Italian and the Diva dance come from the movie 5th element!!! If you haven’t heard of that one it’s done in a computer because it was too hard for a human to sing!! Well not now when we have Dimash! kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4u8eJxpa52rpq8 Later in his own shows he sings it a bit different to. I think one is from the Bastau concert. 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏🌷🌷🌷🌷💕💕💕 Thank you. Great analysis! Speaking of head voice, whistle, (or dolphin), or flageolet, or falsetto - every vocal coach seems to have a different view of these - thank you for telling the truth, namely that just knowing how he did it won’t turn a singer into Dimash overnight. Dimash’s most impressive high notes: Unforgettable Day (the version at the Gakku concert); Across Endless Dimensions; Drunken Concubine and Diva Dance; Ocean over the Time;

This is why Vocal Coach is in your title and much respect to you, I only wish that other reactors would specify Analyst / Coach / teacher in their titles so those of us who generally don't mind seeing 'dumb faces' can avoid unwanted singing lessons, we just want to share the joy his performances give us and hopefully get him a wider audience which he undoubtedly deserves ... we all know that some videos need to be paused because copywrite and hope for sensible comments at these times

I have listened to many voice coaches, and you rank among my favourites (though admittedly this fascination only began with my discovery of Dimash about two months ago). Dimash's honed talent keeps surprising and, I think, hiding a lot more. As he himself has said, being taught drama lessons at the conservatory is particularly helpful in giving his impressive voice more expression. His classical training truly stands him in good stead. Like Freddie Mercury said of his stage performances, Dimash too "likes to ham it up". There are some instances in concerts where he breaks character as a fan call shatters the silence and he stops, laughs, and slips right back into a dramatic riff. It revealed to me a lot about his performing skills as "front man". I think Josef Jakob Orlinsky, the young counter tenor making furore, is impressive and a breath of fresh air. But to me he has this traditional/classic voice that, compared to Dimash's, sounds stifled and hooded. It is also fairly one-dimensional as to the type of music he can sing, as beautiful as it may be. Dimash realised this early on when he opted for neoclassical/crossover/pop style rather than opera or Lieder. The tone of his beautiful voice is lyrical from bass to whistle. However little we know of the tragic fate of the Castrati and what they truly sounded like, we do know that they moved their audiences, not only women but more so men to tears and distraction. To have a full-blooded Kazakh like Dimash deliver this quality of coloratura soprano singing and then descend into a seductive Barry White bass - not just one tone or blip - is simply marvellous. The reactions of people the world over we witness thanks to KZbin takes me straight back to the story of Farinelli and how he commanded the adoration of kings and queens and lived to an old age, though the larger part as a spiritual practitioner rather than performer. He cleverly withdrew from an exploitative music 'industry' that already prevailed in the 18thC. Dimash is behaving similarly...until now, saying that he does not want to compromise his art. Without broad exposure and promotion in the Anglo-Saxon world, however, there are still far too many people who've never even heard of him. And he is an ambitious young man with important messages. May his spirituality and love of singing aid him in his future endeavours without the industry 'castrating' him. (I'm a music lover, not a specialist - but coming from Mozart's birthplace the Queen of the Night is Dear to me🤗).
