There aren’t even words for the amount of joy this performance brings me. The vocals, the back up singers, the choreography, the power….absolutely brilliant performance!!!

Miley has a great deal of confidence as she has “grown up”. She doesn’t seem to worry about what others think of her performance. She is doing “Miley” and having a good time with it.

I have loved this song since the first time I heard it. This performance is wonderful especially the ad libs lol. The Tina Turner tribute bit at the end was just the 24 carat gold icing on the cake.

The whole thing felt like a Tina Turner tribute to me! Of course, the last part specifically so. However, her arm movements and posture and dance moments throughout were sooo Tina, then there is the outfit and hair... I thought it was all a little curious at first but it increasingly becomes clear that it is a powerful and empowering tribute.

Tina Turner is the obvious influence for the costumes and dancing. But I also hear a lot of Gloria Gaynor in the song itself. It's a dance track about self-empowerment after a failed relationship, just like "I Will Survive."

Loved your critique of Miley’s Grammy performance. I love love love this song and can’t get enough of it. Thanks again and good luck with your new album.

Such a fun performance. And very interesting descriptions of what was going on vocally. One has to wonder how much of that is just instinctive, ‘cause I don’t think she’s thinking it through while she sings. 🤔 Anyway, great as always, Jen. Thanks!

I remember watching Hannah Montana when I was younger and even then I loved Miley more. Yes, I get that Hannah was a persona, but still. I'm sure other fans feel that way too, I remember when her 3D concert came out, again, loved the songs Miley sang as herself more, and when the Hannah Montana movie came out too. Yeah, I did love Hannah too, but I liked Miley just being herself. Probably why I love her so much now, she dropped the pop princess thing, and is just doing songs she loves.

Jennifer! Miley Cyrus with Flowers ... hmm, seems like I have heard that song done before ... I can't put my finger on it 🤔😂 Well clearly Miley is having fun with this performance. She's happy that she won her first Grammy ... as she should be! Love all the ad libs. So much attitude! And a mic drop! Heck the whole mic and stand drop! Wait ... it has already been a year since you covered this song?? 😳 Wow time really does fly! Great reaction and analysis as always Jen.

Miley is amazing. I loved her tv show and sound then kinda fell back when she was having her wild years . But for years now since her surgery and comeback stuff she has always been a phenomenon. She has a beautiful raspy unique voice due to surgery and her own voice. She is amazing.Try her covers like Blondies Heart of Glass.

Well... Admittedly I don't follow pop music these days, but this was quite a surprise. I think the last time I saw her she was about 15. So, yeah, a surprise. Very Tina Turner-esque. My one quibble is that I can't always understand what she's saying because she has a little of that lazy southern mushmouth. And I NEVER would have watched the original video on my own, so thanks for the reaction.

To me this song is just a rip-off of Bruno Mars - When I was your man...
@minorafarouk306510 ай бұрын
There are no direct samples or obvious interpolations between “Flowers” and “Your Man,” there are no major sonic overlaps either - no obvious shared melodies or rhythms, no major similarities in production textures. The only obvious similarities, are in the songs’ lyrics - which are not identical, but do share elements and ideas - and merely using some of the same words as an older song is not considered grounds for a rip off! Miley's version is a reply song to Bruno's coz if I remember correctly, Bruno's song was dedicated to Miley in the first place by her now ex husband on his birthday coz Bruno's song was released on the same day. So, this version is a reply to the relationship they once had. She doesn't need him anymore. She can take care of herself.

Have you been living under a rock to not know the story? How is Bruno Mars “I should have bought you flowers,” same as Miley’s “I can buy my own flowers” She used only 5 line as a reply. Its not a rip off. Nor the tune, melodies or rhythms of Bruno’s song matches this song. Also Bruno didn’t sing “Paint my nails cherry red, match the roses that you left” How dumb of you!
