THIS IS WHAT I IMAGINE FOR JISOO's SOLO. ELEGANT, EXPENSIVE and UNIQUE VOICE. SHE IS WHAT SHE IS 🔥

I love Jisoo's deep voice. I always know her part first in Blackpink songs because i keep replaying it.
@jl-rt5it Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your insightful reaction! It is ok to talk about fashion when it comes to Jisoo, I mean she is a Dior muse. Jisoo has Lyric Mezzo range, observed from E3 to F6, but this song seems very mid range for her. Probably because this song will probably be integrated into the concert song lineup and it is always done with dance incorporation. In Blackpink songs the upper register parts are normally given to Rosé. This video was actually shot in the midst of the Blackpink Born Pink world tour, after the group finished the LA concert. The rest of the group returned to Korea, while Jisoo stayed for the production in LA.

I dont think she deliberately reduced her vocal range bc its gonna be integrated into the concert. I do agree that this is mid range vocals of her. She has proved to be able to go way beyond this. But i dont know if going higher range is necessarily better for this song either. I thought it was perfect range for this song. People somehow always want high notes in songs i dont know why.

Controversial statement: I have a fairly strong notion that the subtext of the video is that rather than it being an ordinary love story, Jisoo is playing a sex worker, a 'flower girl.' In past centuries in China, Japan and Korea, the title 'sing-song girl' (Chinese: 歌女), or 'flower girl,' was a slang term for a courtesan. The yellow building which Jisoo stands outside of, looking in at a set of pearls, was painted that colour specifically for this MV shoot. It strongly suggests the 1996 Korean film ‘Yellow House,’ which is about a sex worker who struggles with her identity when she is forced to leave the Yellow House brothel of the title. Jisoo is playing the role of someone who is deeply conflicted by her profession, with all the waiting around in hotel rooms and lobbies, avoiding eye contact with maids and elevator operators, plus all the inevitable heartbreak and loneliness. At the same time she is still attracted to the money she makes and the sense of power it brings, as this may be her only alternative to poverty. The tearing off of the choker at the end is a signal of the character taking charge of her independence. She is no one's pet or possession. PS: This is a description of a role that actress Jisoo is playing. It is not actually a description of our wonderful Jisoo, the brilliant and talented actor and singer from Blackpink.

Though the lyrics may seem like it's about a guy, I feel the 'guy' is actually all the ppl who kept jisoo on a pedestal in terms of beauty and ended it there. Ppl who say they were drawn to her visuals and that's all they want from her, all they expect from her, to just stay in this beautiful bubble (castle) & keep looking pretty. So many ppl (mostly antis) have always maintained that Jisoo brings only beauty to the table, that she's not talented. They built this 'beauty' palace & confined her there, at first luring her (or more like her reputation) in with praises then once she's in, they dictated that this is all she is worth, so just live here for the rest of your life, wearing all these dresses & jewelry (seen in her room) looking pretty and don't even think of stepping outside of this image. The ppl also positioned themselves around her in the castle (social media etc) to ensure that they keep her trapped there. She realized these ppl initially fooled her into thinking they actually love her whereas they just want her confined. Thus the shrewd looks she gives the staff in the castle. She knows they aren't there to nurture her, they are there to make sure she can't escape. But she eventually escapes leaving just a ghost of her image that they tried so hard to trap her in. This has been the story of her life as BP.

4:03 Probably just a translation issue. I would view the word "crimsonly" as an adjective describing the colour of the flames "that burned our relationship". Meaning it "all went down in flames" suddenly and fiercely rather than a "smoldering" death. Just my 2-cents worth, In no way do I speak Korean but I do speak other Asian languages. Maybe others can chime in too?

Lana Del Rey's "Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Bvd" is a hauntingly beautiful ballad that showcases her signature storytelling style and mesmerizing vocals. And if you're looking for something a bit more experimental, Melanie Martinez's "Portals" is an otherworldly track that will transport you to another dimension with its eerie soundscapes and captivating lyrics.

I don't know if it's a good thing or what but I think her solo focused on the visuals and the dresses, but anyhow fans will take what they'll give no matter what coz what they love are the girls themselves at this point.
