This is very nice of you, I am sure there's a lot of latino fans that appreciate this. For a lot of us, growing up, singers like José José, Juan Gabriel or Rocío Durcal, are like soundtrack for our childhood, it's the music our moms and aunts would listen to (I remember my mom playing her records on the old turntable), so other than recognizing the masterful performance (even though this probably ain't the kind of music we would listen by ourselves), there's also a big nostalgic feeling to it, like, childhood and early memories sounds. On a personal note, and being from where I am, it also kinda reminds me of a time and place that doesn't exists anymore, it's almost like traveling in time.

And for those who can't believe he won't won that day, it's true, he ended 3r. The song is a love/sad song it’s about the loss you feel after a loved one passes away el Triste pretty much means “one who is sad” when he holds that long note in the middle it represents the crying of someone who’s lost someone close to them in this case a mother, since the composer had recently lost his mother. So in the buildup he sings “they say that I’m always sad, that I’m always thinking of you, but they don’t know that thinking of your loved has helped me live!” 5:35 (read that line then click on my time stamp)

The song says: How sadly it was to say you goodbye When we loved each other more Until the swallow emigrated Heralding the end How sadly everything looks without you The seas of the beaches leave The colors of gray are dyed Today everything is loneliness I don't know if I see you again later I don't know what my life will be Without the blue star of your being That doesn't light me anymore Today I want to taste my pain I don't ask for compassion or mercy The story of this love was written For eternity The Sad man everyone says that I am I'm always talking about you They don't know what thinking of you love In your love I have been able to help myself to live I have been able to help live. Today everything is loneliness I don't know if I see you again later I don't know what my life will be Without the blue star of your being That doesn't light me anymore Today I want to taste my pain I don't ask for compassion or mercy The story of this love was written For eternity The sad man everyone says that I am I'm always talking about you They don't know what thinking of you love In your love I have been able to help myself to live I have been able to help live. Sorry if I made mistakes, english not is my native lenguage. The song is dedicated for the mother of Composer Roberto Cantoral who pass away then he made this song and José José is the singer.

está bien, lo primero más bien es just when we loved each other THE MOST. tambien es "that doesn't SHINE on me anymore" "they don't know THAT thinking about your love, about your love". Y el final es "I've been able to help me live"

All of mexico thanks you for remembering this legend. Jose Jose 's songs are incredibly beautiful and painful at the same time.

Thank you for reviewing José José. There will NEVER be another José José. Pure passion in his voice. He lived every song. Very missed.

As a Mexican ever since I was a boy I've heard his songs everywhere and I've known of his game, but honestly I didn't knew his skills were that good. (I'm uneducated in music) his story is such a tragedy then.

Fun Fact : He didn’t win this contest (the contest was called “OTI”) but no one remembers the winner because Jose Jose’s performance surpassed all the other ones. People obviously knew the contest was rigged. . . R.I.P a true Mexican Legend !

You're right Genesis, his voice was just amazing that surpassed not just the others, but the winner that day, (I don't even remember his, or her name) José José, was such a unique singer!!!

I cried when this prince died. Prince of the song. He was such a humble, great wonderful man. I met him as a kid back in the 1990s in los angeles, ca at a television station, and he gave me the time of day like I was some special young guy. He had a nice way of treating the people he met and saw. I miss this great voice. Listen to that great voice, great in any language. Mexico cried the day he died.
