Fun Fact: Frank Sinatra was aware of Jose Jose and he offered to record him a LP on his studios and offered 100 Thousand Dollars but they didn't allowed him to do it. Sinatra said that if Jose Jose would have been born in the USA, he would've been The Voice Sinatra heard Jose Jose and just by his voice decided to record him without even knowing him, just by what he heard on that recording that day.

Other facts: the people at minute 004:10 there are the most famous mexican singers of that decade (Angélica María, Marco Antonio Muñiz, Alberto Vazquez) and they are now idols but not as him , they were so surprised about José José that cried. He didn't win that festival, but today nobody remembers or know the winners: there was a lot of controversy because it was obvious who deserved to win. José José is called "el príncipe de la canción" (prince of the song) but Sinatra said he was the king. He is supposed to have a colombian son (never recognized but is obvious) that is so similar to his voice (not as good as the father but he is very good and has a promising career) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXyZlI1midFgrqs. It would be interesting to compare them. Other Fact: José José was the most admired singer for Christian Castro one of the best latinamerican singers, he loved José like a father kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZqceJyclK2Ags0 and recorded an LP of his songs kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHmsanRsr8SGnq8. In fact, could you react please to Christian (volver a amar viña del mar kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3aYeGmvqNtmp5o , lloviendo estrellas, así era ella, no puedo olvidarte, azul)?

A bit of background. This was a time where both cameras and audio were a bit limited. Jose Jose was a very young man, and this was one of his first time in front of an international audience. He was kinda an underdog due to his age and lack of experience. When he took the stage, he took everybody by surprise. If you listen to him, you can see that he not only commands each note, but he saviours the pain of each word. The audience was stunned. The lights don't show how massive the audience was, and the roar of the crow could be heard blocks away. It was truly a one of a time moment where one man walked onto a stage, and brought down a house only using his voice. May he rest in peace.

Master of Voice, here’s a rough translation of the song... How sad it was to say our goodbyes when we loved us the most even the swallow migrated foreshadowing our demise How sad it all looks without you The oceans from the beaches recede to gray the colors they dyed today there’s only loneliness I don’t know if I’ll ever see you again I don’t know what will become of my life Without the aura of your presence that no longer shines Today I want to savor my pain I ask for no compassion nor mercy This love story was written for eternity How sad they all say that I am cause all I do is talk of you They don’t know that thinking of your love is what keeps me alive Author wrote this song while on a plane after news of his mother’s passing...

When I heard it I felt overcome by emotion and told him, “Wow, this guy has a once in a lifetime voice!!!” Anyway, today I looked it up to actually watch the video myself cuz I remembered it. I still felt the gut-wrenching emotion but even MORE while seeing him perform. I can’t even explain it. This song just translates so well no matter what language you speak and his performance was absolutely perfect here. I’ve watched it like 10 times today and I’m not exaggerating! Translation How sad it was to say goodbye just when we loved each other the most Even the swallow flew Foreshadowing the end. How sad everything looks without you. The seas from the beaches leave, The colors of grey are dyed Today all is loneliness. I don't know if i will see you again, I don't know what's going to become of my life without the blue star of your being that doesn't shine on me anymore. Today i want to savor my pain I'm not asking for compassion nor pity. The story of this love was written for eternity. How sad everybody say I am, that I'm always talking about you. They don't know that thinking about your love, of your love, I've been able to help me live, I've been able to help me live. Today i want to savor my pain I'm not asking for compassion nor pity. The story of this love was written for eternity. How sad everybody say I am, that I'm always talking about you. GTAN CANAL, SALUDOS Y GRACIAS.
