YESSSS!!! Paradise Lost are my all-time favourites! This is old-man Nick though - I'd suggest trying Gothic, Pity the Sadness and One Second for contrast.

It's nice to see Nick recovering his voice, but of course their 90s stuff when he pushed it absolutely to the limit is unrivaled. Pity the sadness live version gives me goosebumps every time I watch it.

@@yodasears So will "Believe In Nothing", but it's my favorite album from them. Mostly because it feels like it's telling the story of a certain time in my life. "Symbol of Life" is another favorite of mine, probably for the same reasons. I am in no way discounting astounding albums like "Draconian Times", though.

The greatest doom/goth-metal band EVER ! TBH even One second is a gem in my opinion. I mean Nick loves Dead can Dance and Depeche Mode. That's a cool band with an identity its own and not afraid to come out of left field whent they feel like it ! MUCH RESPECT !

Definitely do more Paradise Lost, they are fascinating in terms of their evolution. From their death metal and doom roots through their "British Metallica tag" and their Depeche Mode phase and regeneration through returning to their death doom roots via more mainstream metal stylings.

ah, the sound of Halifax. lived there. its easy to see how you write this stuff when you know the place! If you want the really interesting chords I suggest "joys of the emptyness" from the early album "Icon". Or if you want to hear there pop Depeche Mode phase there's the album "host"

Paradise Lost / My Dying Bride Impossible to separate these two awesome bands, seriously! These two bands were an important step in my life most depressing moments in between late 90s and the early years of this new millennium, and for contrast they made me approach life with the most positive attitude at least for my standards. It was like they helped me digging into the darkest moments of my life when love was a paradise I felt I wasn't gonna get into anymore, a paradise I had lost at that point and for irony of the destiny when you finally get there you lose it again, like the woman you know will be your bride and, cruelty of life, she suddenly won't be anymore, like a dying hope later on. Life is a rollercoaster of course so Anyway... let's give the right credits to the guy behind the art of this video. If I remember right the mastermind of Paradise Lost is also the artist behind those drawings... or am I confusing with My Dying Bride!? Well... definitely worth reacting to both these so underrated bands and I personally thanks you a lot ken, for giving me back chills from my past. It's so good to know Paradise Lost isn't so lost after all and they're still delivering great music as always. Probably I should go back to them and dig into that dark hole again, because where there is darkness there is either light after all. That light is Music!

You just viewed one of the most underrated bands still going today!..Their lyrics stay true to what they have always been about....this song as much as it dosn't have a rhythmic or solo appeal, addresses how the elderly are viewed and tucked away into homes as if they have no value to society in a western culture. When being as an elderly citizen in other cultures other than Western.. they are highly valued in teaching children in life skills and knowledge!... as much as someone may hear this song and does not appeal to them...the meaning is forthright!... Paradise Lost....a band that has been always not Bullshitted you...as much as you experience from this fantasy projected you today.

I've seen some of your reactions and have grown to appreciate your insight. I first started to appreciate Paradise Lost around the early 90s, and one thing I'd be interested in your view in when you comment on another one of their songs is how they offer a relatively unique musical position in metal, and most of rock - the lead guitarist (Greg) takes most of the melodic lines musically, which the vocalist would normally take. This means that the vocalist (Nick) can either growl, or sing an alternate melody, or a counter-melody. In a different genre, Alice in Chains is relatively unique for their close harmonies, and Paradise Lost in their writing do it similarly between vocals and guitar. Therefore, when I started to listen to Paradise Lost, many of the other 'growly' bands were a little too growly for me, but Paradise Lost kept the heavy elements but still kept a melodic element with the guitar.

Just saw your vid from last year, The Man comes around by Johnny Cash and now this, wow what dichotomy. I hope that you went back into the depths of your mind when you heard and have grasped the true meaning and warning that Johnny was singing of, The True hope only found in Christ alone. Instead of the hopelessness of this world which the singer of this tune sang. So sad to see the Unregenerative soul of man without becoming a New Creation in Christ in becoming a child of the King and beleiving in His shed blood on the Cross at Calvary and repenting of our sin.
