Watch her audition. Singing "Tomorrow". Not quite as stunning, but damn close!
@seoocathainestateofbrianka80437 ай бұрын
Right on the ball Nina, yes, dynamics is it, you don't sing it all the same way if you want to be memorable. Another name for dynamics is tonal variance. Yea watch the audition lol, do Nina. Agree with what you said Nina, yer great fun. I think her humour and communication confidence even if she's "sh&ting a brick" to coin a phrase nerves as she was meant to before this performance, when you communicate just adds another level of connection. I hope she never reels that in. Because like other stars, it'll serve her well, because like you said, above all, pitch, dynamic variation its that warm up laughter-you go to a concert or watch a program like you buy an ice cream or lovely dinner for "an emotional experience" right. To have become engrossed out of your everyday concerns, and you associate to the lyrics. And Syndie does that. I think the more now she keeps her feet on the ground the more she's make the right moves to steadily step by step to stardom. But that work has to be put in now and any record company money put in if its Syco Records has to be paid back via tickets before anything more than wages/expenses goes to the singer goes back to refund that right? So hopefully it works and hopefully Syndie can do some duets with her bf Max Rizzo whose trying to break through. Maybe he can give AGT a go. Of course the public will decide in time if he is as good.

Her song choices are not only amazing, but they seem to offer an autobiography. She began with Tomorrow, next was My Way, and her final song choice was Over the Rainbow. It tells the story of a person never giving up, always thinking of tomorrow, but refusing to follow lead and always wanting to do it her way, and finally dream of her life over the rainbow. Well, as the winner of BGT 2024, Sydnie Christmas, your tomorrow has arrived, you did it your way, and you should be over the rainbow!

Excellent breakdown of her performance. Regarding her prior experience. She was part of a cast for a couple of plays in the past. 1 in London and 1 in Germany. She also was a cruise ship performer for Royal Caribbean. So she has experience, but has never performed on The West End according to her interviews. She was an understudy before Covid closed everything. Not exactly a household name (yet). I heard shades of Judy Garland there. She also is very funny, as you’ll see in her audition, singing Tomorrow.

Loved your reaction Nina, your enchanting 'English-ness', and your insightful takes on the vocal mastery that enables the emotion, the passion and power we feel in this performance. We've only seen three performances from Sydnie on BGT as the beyond well-deserved Golden Buzzer for Tomorrow sent her straight to the semi-finals; where she popped My Way out (her way..) and bingo, here comes the final, where she took us not just Over, but totally above and beyond The Rainbow, to take the pot of gold. Three performances of old standards we all think we know by heart, each delivered with more nuance and emotion than almost any of the myriad of prior renditions, each reinvigorated in a way that screams, A Star is Born. Oh btw, of course I've subscribed, I'm looking forward to watching your work again.

She has elaborated in interviews there are seven minutes of her on stage here covering her working experience, that were cut due to time constraints. Two tours singing on cruise ships and a run in Germany in the musical stage show Starlight Express. She was 28 here and said she wants to start a family someday, but as it is, she can't do it because she has no financial stability. She had in fact decided to end her professional singing career with this show. Currently she had enrolled in classes to become a physical trainer. She thought it would be nice to have this BGT experience to look back on to say she had done it. She auditioned for years and just could not land a role. She was a bundle of nerves in her audition because she was not auditioning in character for a part but as herself. She has said she learned more in 2 months with the BGT vocal coach than she did in 3 years of musical college. She won 250K pounds and says she is saving it for a house one day. The time she opens up and is just herself, is the day the universe opened doors for her. :-)

@@ninaschofield I found your thought process, including your pulling in the humanistic, emotional input of a performer's craft very interesting. I spent 44 years of my life in the emergency, investigative and protection fields. I was a bodyguard to many...many...of the elite vocal and acting artists in the world, among others. The similarities to investigating, which has much to do with observation and interpreting various human responses and the way you proceed with your analysis of a particular artist have very similar profiles. Your attention to details is so very important. Observable actions breaks down into details. You would make a good investigator I believe. Besides the mechanics of breaking down an event into a final hypothesis is that "sixth sense," that instinctive ability that few truly have, that guides one into understanding what might seem to be the obvious. I live in the U.S., which is getting a little too interesting these days, so viewing a quality talent review is very refreshing for me. Thank you!

Her career was really at an end, she felt, and this visit to BGT was her "last ditch effort" to save her career. But here, she was herself, and a brilliant self it is. So I disagree, respectfully, with both you and Sydnie--her future is on the concert stage where she can be her true self, brilliant in recasting songs in a totally different way than we have been perceiving them, and delivering them with a power and physicality that makes me watch her performances every day.

Yes, she is just fantastic, perfect for the Westend of London and Broadway. Her singing career took a nose dive with covid, and she was finding it hard to get back on stage. She reminds me of Morissette Amon and her challenges to be on stage and sing. The voice of the Philippinens helped a bit, but her duet with Jessie J in Jessie's concert and her first big hit, AKIN KA NA LANG, made Mori a house hold name in the Philippinens, as you know, the difference being between them is Mori can sing every Genre there is, where Sydnie is restricted to Musicals and big film music, like goldfinger and other bond movie titles, she has to make a Christmas Carol CD now before it's too late, maybe Mori's version of O HOLY NIGHT, even though Mori is my favourite singer out there, I just love power vocals.

Tonight Sydnie won the final with a show-stopping rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" - a must watch/listen. Some singer, some talent! If she makes an album I'm there.....
