I'm a HUGE Judy Garland fan and pretty much can't stand anyone else singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" because it just doesn't compare, but this version, good lord, this version has Judy and Sydnie and wistful and dreams and determination and joy and pain and hope and disappointment all wrapped up and my GOD can that woman open her mouth and sing. In close up shots you can see her uvula and the back of her mouth and how it's positioned and how it's vibrating and you know that this is the real deal. Like Simon said--are these people deaf that you are auditioning for? Well, they ain't deaf now cause she's done BLOWN the roof off the place. It truly is a Sydnie Mary Christmas!!!!

My thoughts on her singing...and i say this as a guy who grew up around singing with my mom singing professionally. The three songs sung by Miss Christmas for BGT are by FAR...my most favorite versions of those iconic songs ever sung. I sat up the other night thinking about what other songs I'd love to hear her sing...from Alphavilles "Forever Young" to The Eagles "Desperado" to Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"...and Berlin's "Take My Breath Away"...and i started making a list to suggest to her ...and ill be damned if it wasnt well over 200 iconic songs on my list. I immediately stopped creating the list after seeing how big it was getting. Her voice is PERFECT. It absolutely resonates right through me at my core. Crazy good. The perfect pitch, sniper control, and buttery tonal variations are perfect. I can't get enough of her singing. I'm not at all embarrassed about the number of times I've listened to her 3 songs she sang on BGT. My only problem now is...How do we get her to sing the 5,000 songs in my musical index???❤ Dusty Springfield "You Don't Own Me"❤

I am 66 years old living in Florida with cancer surviving alone with my 2 boxers. I listen to these shows since the beginning and I have done tons of cruising pre covid. I loved the shows but never saw Syd personally. Now my musical career consisted of me in elementary in a choir hitting a note and the teacher stopped everything and wanted to know who did that and I was afraid. My mom was a homemaker but was in the church and took her singing seriously and in high school I would yell at her to let me sleep. Wow do I feel like a schmuck. One thing I have come to appreciate and love so much is seeing people'e reactions of happiness and experience something so beautiful. I love bringing a smile to peoples faces for sure but Im not that special but watching Syd just absolutely change people's entire mental environment. I saw you cry, I need to take a break from binge watching these 3 performances because my skin is tired from goosing up on me. Oh I am so happy for her but I also must express my love to Ireland and England worked for BT for years been to Ipswich to the Labs, over to Northern Ireland when bombs were exploding on the runways at Heathrow BUT the people over there are amazing and beautiful. Beth (hope thats your real name) I think you are so just amazingly gorgeous when you express your true feelings about Syd you pop on your chair smile just exude your feelings. Just awesome. I’m not a fan of the style, but the technique is out of this world. Executed to perfection.

@jim99west465 ай бұрын
It’s easy. Musical theater cast is character based performance in a relatively medium or small venue. She is obviously too talented to play someone else.She is so nuclear powerful that she needed a huge venue and crowd to turn her power loose! Those casting directors didn’t know what she was capable of and agents who turned her down have probably hung themselves by now lol.

Casting for those shows goes beyond just the vocal talent and technicality; they're also looking at your physique (are you the right height, shape, size, etc) especially if the role involves dance elements to it (which many of them will). I've had friends who have had to quickly put on weight just to secure a call back, and others who were turned away because they were too short. There is some leniency when it comes to household names or celebrities though, but largely it will depend on the casting team how strict they are when it comes to finding what they're looking for (and they already know exactly what they want most of the time before anyone sets foot inside).

Beth - About that shift you point out on "DARE" (in "that you dare to dream..."), where the vowel opens to an AH sound: This is one of several places in all three of Sydnie's BGT performances where (to my ear, anyway) she channels Barbra Streisand. Do you hear it? Other Streisand moments I noticed included: in "Tomorrow," the second line "Bet your bottom dollar"; and, in "My Way," the way she fairly chomped on that sound "choo" in "more than I could CHEW." For just those fleeting moments, I could see Barbra right there, in her early twenties, at the mic with Sydnie. Of course I hear other greats as well -- Judy Garland and Liza Minelli and some others mentioned in other comments. I love that Sydnie isn't imitating anyone, but the community of great singers shines through her.

Hi Beth. Sydnie has an incredible voice. You need to look up Inger Lise Hope from Norway. She won the voice there. Mind blowing. Love the hair,
