I'm a nearly 50 year old man who grew up listening to this song and I always felt it. Growing up and losing people thought life changes (no pun intended) how thing "hit" you. I haven't listened to this in years because I lost my girlfriend to a brain hemorrhage in 2003. This is the first time I have in ages and it hit me like a ton of bricks. Cried. Literally sobbed at this man's version of the song. It felt good to cry honestly. I miss her still. Thanks for posting this Beth. I didn't realize how much healing I still need to do. Charles was a very kind soul> I was able to meet him once before one of his shows. He was walking around talking to people and thanking them for coming to the show. I was able to talk to him for about 10 mins. It was actually my birthday and I went to the show by myself. I told him that and he was taken back that I wanted to see him on my birthday. I was able to get a picture of the both of us. I was very sad to hear of his passing. There is a reason why he was called the Screaming Eagle of Soul. He will be missed.

The story of Charles Bradley an inspiring one more than anything. He was born into poverty, worked hard all his life, and worked his way up from the bottom. He sang for most of his life, often while working other jobs, and didn't really make any money or garner any fame at all until about 2010, by which point he was already in his 60s. He died in 2017, but those seven years in between justified all the hard work and sacrifice. He got a record contract, recorded albums, toured huge festivals, got the fame that was long overdue, appeared in TV shows like Luke Cage, and died surrounded by his friends, family, and the musicians he'd worked with those seven years, doing what he loved. And he leaves behind a legacy, a great story, and some of the most amazing music you could ever hope to hear.

Everytime i listen to this song I always send my mom an i love you text. Whenever I see her I give her a hug and hold her tight. Music like this makes me really appreciate how slow time is and how much we time we really do have with each other. Nothing but love.

Ryan Murray his voice wasnt pretty likr sam cooke or smoothe like Otis it was so so raw and real and full of pain. One of the best Soul singers of all time Made some of the best modern day Oldies he just seemed like such a nice cool guy too. RIP CHARLES BRADLEY

Seeing him at Glastonbury festival in 2014 was one of the highlights of that year. Rarely have i seen a performer who was so gratefull and happy to be on stage. We were standing in the pouring rain and everyone was mesmerised!

I rewatch thar video, fairly often, and a lot of those times, I'll come back and watch this one, because of how You are able to describe the emotion behind Charles rendition. Your eyes are probably as telling, as your words, if not more. keep on, keepin on.

Thanks for this, RIP Charles one of the all time greats. I’ve had tickets to see him twice, and was never able to. When he first got sick and had to cancel, and a few years later, when he passed away. It kills me every time I hear him still. 😢
