My partner and I used to work on cruise ships, we docked in New York and went to a Matinee performance of the Color Purple and people were giving a standing ovation half way through this song! She did the Tony performance of Violet and was one of the 3 church ladies in Color Purple. By far, Cynthia Erivo is one of my most favorite singers and performers of recent years!! Just on technique alone, she's so so secure with her instrument and she knows her voice so well. But technique aside, she knows exactly what story to tell in everything I've seen her sing and she tells it with such conviction and such honesty. She's one of those performers that connects so easily to whoever listens. AND I LOVE how you highlighted, in my opinion, the most important line in the song and see how important the message of this song is. "I believe I have inside of me, everything that I need to live a BOUNTIFUL life." Cynthia just nails the delivery of this line so perfectly.
