Woot! You've just discovered the incomparable pull and power that is Dimash. Can I tell you a secret? You haven't heard 1/3rd of what he is capable of. You may think I'm exaggerating by saying that, but I am not. He's still got another octave of range above what you just heard in this song. He's got more range below as well. If you listen to "Sinful Passion" next, you'll hear him do things with his voice you've probably never heard another human do. He is one of the few singers that will honestly surprise you with *every single* song of his you hear. Oh... and he's also a very talented pianist, drummer and stringed instrument player.

This dude is really on a whole different level. His range is ridiculous sure but it's not just about that. He's got such amazing control over his voice that only comes from years of practice and study. He's doing things in this video that the top singers in the world would struggle with and he's making it look effortless. In addition to that he's singing in a foreign language, that he does not speak, and doing it better than some native speakers. The word genius gets thrown around a lot these days but there really isn't another that adequately describes the depth of this mans' talent.

I remember hearing him about two years ago. He didn't have views because he was mostly known in his country. He is foreigner to me being in America and I shared on my Facebook his performances. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you! It’s official, you’ve been “Dimashed”! The reason there is a point for you to react to this phenomenon known as Dimash is that we, his fans, simply can not get enough of him! He is growing in popularity but is still fairly unknown to the majority of people. Most of have have been following him for over a year a most of our exposure to him is through reaction videos or videos created by his fans. Gloria Wu has a channel here on KZbin under her name. It is dedicated to translating Dimash’s performances into English and other languages. Many times she also gives a history of the song as Dimash is a master at telling the story of the song and bringing the emotions of it to life. "SOS d'un terrien en détresse" is a song from a canadian-french rock opera: Starmania, played the first time in Paris in april 1979. Lyrics by Luc Plamondon, music by Michel Berger. "SOS d'un terrien en détresse" was written for the french singer Daniel Balavoine who had a special voice with a very wide range. In 1992, an english version of the songs was also written by Tim Rice and the songs were sung by Kim Carnes, Céline Dion, Matt & Luke Goss, Nina Hagen, Tom Jones, Peter Kingsberry, Cindy Lauper, Kevin Robinson, Ronnie Spector, Willy De Ville. The album was called "Tycoon". The English version of the song, "Only the very best", was performed by Peter Kingsberry, from the group "Cock Robin", who also had a particular voice. But I also like Dimash interpretation.

I never got to hear him sing live but my friends who had attended his concert told me his voice is much clearer and stronger than the videos. "This guy" is no "this guy", he rather is Dimash the Great, Dimash the Magnificent. (That was just a note intended to be humouristic). He sang "Le SOS d'un terrien en détresse" in French, because the original song, well-known in France, is in French. Dimash always sings the songs in their original language. The "SOS" was made famous by a French singer Grigori Lemarchal, who died of cystic fibrosis at the age of 23. (At the time of Dimash's performing it, he was 22). When Dimash, shortly after this competition contribution was invited to Paris, he paid his homage to Grigori visiting the cemetery in Paris and laying flowers on his grave. -- Others will tell you more about the competition in China, and about this being the very first performance in the competition, etc.

No. Daniel balavoine sang first "SOS d'un terrien en détresse". He died in 1986 in an accident. (It was one of the greatest French singer) Gregory lemarchal was well known for his version of this music but he didn't composed it. (Sorry but Balavoine is my favorite French singer by far and I had to react)

I know that you had to react for your reasons, so here are mine. Gregory Lemarchal's version is vocally superior than Balavoine's, while Dimash's version is superior still.

Thank you for doing this! French is not Dimash's mother tongue; he's from Kazakhstan (and was only 22 at the time of this video.) This is from a contest for professional singers in China ('Singer' in 2017) and over the 14 episodes of the competition he sings in six different languages! It would be great if you could take a look at his version of 'Sinful Passion' from his own KZbin channel (Dimash Kudaibergen) - it's in Russian with English subtitles, and is even more impressive than SOS, in my opinion....See what you think!
