Either the original with ZP or a song since Marc. Both got their strengths and weaknesses. You're absolutely right about relaxing with guitar playing. I've been playing for 10 years now; if you tense up you can maybe hold an awkward note, but you're sacrificing a lot of other things, and 90% of what is going on will usually be much better off with relaxed, loose muscles. Plus if you tighten up too much for too long you run the risk of pulling muscles, straining tendons and such; I once had a finger lock up mid-practice the night before a gig; it wasn't even a remotely difficult song but my part required me to hold a very similar chord shape for minutes on end. I was fine after though. It's interesting to see these guys (both vocals and guitarists) opting for variations from the 'studio' version; some of these changes I would guess are stylistic, or simply because they want to mix things up a bit for their own sake, but there are a few changes that I can imagine are more practical; certain runs, fills, note placements and flares must be really awkward to pull off consistently live. These guys are really on point though, they killed it. I'd love to see you react to Marcus King's voice, he's a blues guitarist/vocalist and he has loads of great material on youtube. I feel like if I say too much I'll spoil it, but his voice is just awesome. There's a song "Rita Is Gone" with some nice videos.

Years ago I heard an interview of Def Leppard on a local station, and their lead singer made a point that (most) British rock vocalists sing with an American accent. He made an example by singing the first line of "Pour Some Sugar On Me" with a proper British accent, and described it as "Austin Powers on Prozac".

Love me some Dragonforce. I have heard nothing like them the first time I tried this song on Guitar Hero but there is hard and brutal and some than play this on that difficulty. The song itself is FIRE.

When were you in Harlem, Beth? That, along with Motown, is a Mecca of jazz and soul in America. The Lafayette Theatre is it's most celebrated venue and many great performers played there.

Watching the guitarists playing the same parts over each other to kind of add this odd depth and slight wobble to the sound, as they aren’t in 100% perfect sync, is so damn cool. It reminds of a time when I saw Atreyu at a festival and their guitarists did something similar, though spread about 10 or 15 feet apart and would toss their guitars back and forth on the short lead breaks. It was incredible to watch them throw their guitars at each other, catch them and resume playing the same bits over each other in sync. Not perfectly in sync, of course, but about as close as they are here. I was so close to the stage and overwhelmed by the sound that I couldn’t even hear them separately when they were mirroring each other. It was a really well choreographed bit for the guitarists, with the playing, movements, and throwing the guitars back and forth. I’ll never forget that show.
