I absolutely loved this performance. And what’s impressive is he’s the one who had the vision for how the performance played out - starting in the audience, he wanted Margo, America Greta and Emma in the first row so he could go up and let them sing portions of it! Ryan actually said that he had to go back in his mind and sort of "reach out to" that MMC version of himself in order to prepare for Ken, and had to stop being embarrassed by that part of his past. For numerous reasons, playing Ken was apparently very therapeutic for him.

The vibrato in 'I'M NO DREAMER' what? That was amazing. Ryan was actually the co-founder of a band called "Dead Man's Bones" and they did one album by the same title that is--I kid you not--inspired by the haunted mansion ride at Disneyland. So you can imagine the vibes! It's very fun and weird and quirky. You can tell Ryan Gosling and Zack Shields (other co-founder) had a lot of fun with it! There's also some live performance with them and the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir, who were featured on the album (the choir was actually started by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, this album is so full of lore).

Ryan has been singing since he was a kid, he is a recording artist, so definitely he knows about singing for a long time - he might not be the best, but he's not a stranger to singing or music, overall. Also, Slash and Wolfgang Van Halen played on the original "I'm Just Ken" recording for the movie, so make sense they are performing live. Gosling took the staging from Mailyn Monroes "Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend". You sound like you didn't see the movie. What do you mean the crowd involved, that is the director and two of the stars from Barbie and the other was Emma Stone his co-star in La La Land and 2 other movies. He doesn't read music, but he wrote music for "Dead Man's Bones" and he learned piano for "La La Land'.

Dunno why so mean lol. I’m sure he knows who those people are. He literally calls out “Emma stone!” When she sings.
