I absolutely loved this performance. And what’s impressive is he’s the one who had the vision for how the performance played out - starting in the audience, he wanted Margo, America Greta and Emma in the first row so he could go up and let them sing portions of it! He gave it his all. And Mark Ronson killed it writing this masterpiece!

Ryan actually said that he had to go back in his mind and sort of "reach out to" that MMC version of himself in order to prepare for Ken, and had to stop being embarrassed by that part of his past. For numerous reasons, playing Ken was apparently very therapeutic for him.

The vibrato in 'I'M NO DREAMER' what? That was amazing. I love all the details...when he gets up from the stairs, and spreads out his arms, reminds me of a 'ken doll' gets off the stairs...love the lyrics..'I'm great a doin' stuff' like...a kid would say. He held that last note...just fine!!! It's all just amazing.

Ryan was actually the co-founder of a band called "Dead Man's Bones" and they did one album by the same title that is--I kid you not--inspired by the haunted mansion ride at Disneyland. So you can imagine the vibes! It's very fun and weird and quirky. You can tell Ryan Gosling and Zack Shields (other co-founder) had a lot of fun with it! There's also some live performance with them and the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir, who were featured on the album (the choir was actually started by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, this album is so full of lore).

I loved it! I think it may be the most memorable performance on an awards show that I can remember. It was so “easy” feeling. It seemed so natural, and NOT like a Broadway over-the-top musical kind of performance, even though it was “staged.” It just felt totally perfect! :-)

Even started out singing, put a record out with Zach Shields in 2009 - Dead Man’s Bones - plays several instruments, toured with his band and still is really into singing, playing and performing. I remember when I saw him in the movie “Lars and the real girl” and there is this scene where he sings to his sex doll “girlfriend” LOL and he sounded amazing. It was such an odd scene but I remember his voice…it was clear he wasn’t just an actor who sang, but a singer who also was an actor. I appreciate the effort for this video, but a little bit more preparation in knowing the artist's background would make it work so much better. Ryan has been singing since he was a kid, he is a recording artist, so definitely he knows about singing for a long time - he might not be the best, but he's not a stranger to singing or music, overall. Also, Slash and Wolfgang Van Halen played on the original "I'm Just Ken" recording for the movie, so make sense they are performing live. I'm glad that you liked it but you just gave zero effort to know more about the context about anything in this video.

What do you mean the crowd involved, that is the director and two of the stars from Barbie and the other was Emma Stone his co-star in La La Land and 2 other movies. He doesn't read music, but he wrote music for "Dead Man's Bones" and he learned piano for "La La Land'.

Dunno why so mean lol. I’m sure he knows who those people are. He literally calls out “Emma stone!” When she sings. I also don’t get where this idea comes from that Gosling didn’t know how to play piano before la la land. I know he himself promoted this idea but he definitely played piano in dead man’s bones. Loved the reaction so went to find your Ren reactions and couldn't find one....what? Hi Ren... is a masterpiece and deserves a watch. Also, Ren doesn't copywrite so if you want you can let it play, as much as you want... if you get a notice his people will make sure it's corrected.

Am I crazy to say I always thought that Kaden reminded me someone, and now I realize he looks a bit like Ryan Gosling?
