Fun trivia, the Ken he twirled in for the kiss on the cheek was Scott Evans, Chris Evans (Captain America's) brother.

Without a doubt he put in a level of performance especially considering singing live that well, you could tell just watching it on the night everyone there justifiably loved it and got everyone hyped up but to actually be there in that theatre during it the atmosphere must have been something else.

Glad to know you gave the Barbie movie a chance instead of simply believing all the ’critics.’ To perpetual haters who called the movie ’feminist,’ ‘preachy’ or ‘stupid’ are completely missing the point. The movie embraces Everybody. Although I was familiar with Gosling’s singing and dancing background, I was unprepared for the level of joy and fun being presented at the Oscars. ❤😊

My hubby didn't want to watch the Barbie Movie. We did go to see Oppenheimer in IMAX (and we wore the Barbenheimer t-shirts I got for us). When Barbie came to streaming, I watched it without him and I was pleasantly surprised by it. Yeah, it says Barbie, but Ryan Gosling's Ken was fantastic. I actually empathized with the Ken character over Barbie. That was all Ryan's acting and singing skills. The first lines of "I'm Just Ken" catches you up and gives a window into the whole story from Ken's point of view. I agree with you about the emphasis on "girl bosses" who do everything perfectly. The Barbie character is out of touch with everything that doesn't keep her in the center. Where's the empathy for the non-Barbies? Margo Robbie was perfect as Barbie. Anyway, I came away with a different attitude of the story and encouraged my hubby to watch it. Ryan is so talented. I loved his pink sequined suit. The Kens we great, as was all the stellar musical talent.

Barbie is such an incredibly deep movie for being as humorous as it was. It spoke so much about our society, how things have changed, and how little things have changed. Some things were a bit over the top, but still not wrong. Great casting, great jokes, a beautiful message about self discovery and reflection, etc.

Loved you review. Glad you gave Barbie a chance, it’s brilliant, funny and just plain fun. Impossible to come out in a bad mood. I went the second day and most of the theatre was cheering & chanting Oscar after America Ferreira’s incredible speech. It made me feel more hopeful about empathy being alive & well that just as many men as women were cheering. They have wives, daughters, mothers, girlfriends & friends and they see the impossible standards and mixed messages that the media and society impose on women. The same is true for many men, everyone would be happier and healthier mentally without worrying about all the outdated stereotypes imposed on men and women. Also glad to hear the shoutout for fellow Canadian Simu Liu, he is multi-talented as an actor, martial artist, singer, dancer, writer and just all around great guy. He was an athlete in university where he found his love of acting and dance (street & formal training). He’s hosted the Juno’s (Canada’s Grammys) the past few years and he’s been amazing. You can find plenty of videos on You Tube searching Juno’s Simu Liu, his Avril Lavigne medley is great vocally & so funny.

The KEN that kisses Ryan is openly Gay actor Scott Evans, who was in the movie as well. His brother is Chris (Captain America) Evans, making the connection to MARVEL even stronger with working with Simu (Shung-Chi) Liu in The Barbie movie. And yes, there was Slash on stage at the Oscars. Leaning into him (with long brown hair and a beard) was Wolfgang Van Halen. The Late Eddie Van Halen's son. It was a great production all and all.

This performance is just the best. The Oscars needed a light-hearted, yet glorious performance. I was listening to Sirius XM, and they were talking about how it missed an opportunity to have Rob Thomas on guitar. Apparently he’s had a crush on the director for forever and was more than happy to have them use his song for the movie. He probably would have had no problem doing it. But I think it’s weirder with Slash, and something like this should be as weird as possible.
@renyauger45608 ай бұрын
Slash is on the original soundtrack which is why he was at the Oscars playing his part. Rob Thomas’ classic Matchbox Twenty hit Push was used hysterically as the only song the patriarchal Ken’s knew. I saw the 60 minutes interview with Rob about it and he was surprised and flattered when Greta asked him for permission to use the song. He likes and admires her work as a director, in his own words because “so much of her messages and the way they are delivered with humour, empathy and intelligence reminds me so much of my wife”.

Now we just need Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Timothee Chalamet, and Anne Hathaway to all appear in a Barbie sequel, especially Emma Stone as either any type of Barbie or Barbie’s best friend Midge, who falls in love with Ryan Gosling’s Ken and Cillian Murphy as a human version of Ken in the real-world, who’s Sasha’s teacher, and love interest of human version of Margot Robbie’s Barbie (who now goes by Barbara Handler; since she was named after the inventor of Barbie Ruth Handler’s daughter). I also hope the rest of the original cast comes back like America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Michael Cera, Scott Evans, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Alexandra Shipp, Dua Lipa, John Cena, Helen Mirren (Narrator), and Will Ferrell. Let’s hope that Greta Gerwig and Margot both bring back composer and songwriter Mark Ronson to write more songs, and maybe add Jack Antonoff, who’s known for in a rock band called Fun, and write & produce some songs with Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift. What if a Barbie sequel could be a musicial? Not to mention we also need a Barbie Musicial Broadway soon too. That would be so much Kenergy right now! And Kenough! 💖
