In my opinion there’s several issues wrong here. 1. She left little mix, but is still doing the little mix formula. Add more choreo to the live performance and lip sync the chorus. But little mix lip synced the chorus because it’s insane to correctly nail 4 part harmony and dancing. 2. The pauses. Most of the time the songs that do this are huge songs everybody knows so they can be hyped up. The 12 people in the audience that know every word to this isn’t enough. 3. The choreography is so weird to me. Wasn’t Jesy a dancer before she became a singer? Her and Jade were always the best dancers imo, shouldn’t she have realized this is terrible choreography? 4. And for the tongue thing, she’s always done that, just not as much. She was always the hype girl of little mix. 5. And finally, I loved how she said “this is the music I’ve always wanted to make” and yet she sampled songs, had a feature, and we won’t discuss the other things. This whole thing is weird to me

for no. 3, i agree & disagree. during their early days i would say yes, jade and her was the best dancers cause she got basic dance skills from being a dancer. but after awhile her dance seems off, she doesnt seem to take dancing serious any longer (use shortcuts, forget moves, out of beat etc). even perrie seems to be better at dancing and memorizing the moves now compared to jesy tbh

The Jesy stans trying to defend the performance. Let’s be honest here - it was underwhelming to say the least. She hardly sang live, the song was broke down far far too much. The issue is LM had such high high standards when performing live so she’s set the bar SO high. So far she’s not rising to that bar! That’s not bullying as her stans again like to point out - not choosing to sing live, this song etc is all her choices.
@Dee_Lite2632 жыл бұрын
Also her dancing wasn't great either and nowhere near on the same league as their little mix routines. The banging her shoulder forward was cringe and embarrassing and painful to watch. Also she isn't the best singer from LM and has that annoying baby voice which can grate so I'm afraid she really was exposed here and don't get me started on the outfit.

I think she’s still in group mode. It’s still follows the pattern that Little Mix did when performing. But now, she has to do everything, no breaking the performance up into parts and that’s it’s were she’s lacking. Whoever is managing her, need to rework and tell her to act like an emerging singer. Maybe a ballad to have her focus only on her vocals to highlight her voice.

I feel that Jesy didn't really think it out before leaving the group. I think she saw her rise in popularity after her documentary and thought she could ride it solo. (I understand her reasoning for leaving just not sure I fully buy it). I don't think she relises how much the girls helped her out and that going from being part of a group to a solo artist is a huge change. I'm also still concerned about her mental health.

jesy seems confused to me. she left little mix for mental health reasons, but is now pursuing a solo career when it sounded like being away from the spotlight was best for her. and she’s very publicly talked about struggling to love herself and her looks, and she’s talked about social media being bad for her, and then she engages in the “ig baddie” aesthetic irl and online. not sure her career goals or musical goals are super defined and her performances and songs seem like they’re coming from a jumbled and confused place.
@thejennastephens2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you Georgina that the performance felt like a BRIT Awards or VMAs style performance and Jingle Bell Ball was not the right place or the right time. i really think her voice isn't enough to be a solo artist. The girls always covered her bad moments in the group but now everything is free & it shows
@Dee_Lite2632 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I've listened to all four girls individually and always felt Jesy was the weakest singer and this showed that, it probably wasn't as noticeable in LM because they work out what line of each song suits them best and as for her leaving to focus on her mental health, well I knew she'd be trying to forge a solo career so that wasn't a shock to me but her output is shocking and the choreography and dancing was abysmal. What a disaster from copying the original P Diddy video to dissing the other girls and this did nothing to help, the attitude, the constant sticking her tongue out and the outfit. So embarrassing.
@joshuamarque9 ай бұрын
I disagree, I think her voice is one of the best, if not the best of the group, for me it's her and perry the best voices in LM, being Lee-Ann ( my favorite 😍) the weakest member in vocal terms. She's definitely capable of carrying a career alone, maybe she's not going to be the most famous out of the 4 cause of song style choices and the same goes to perry unless she manage to do the same as Adele. Today's world rap, hip-pop, pop are the mainstreams and everything else that dodges that, normally has a lot less vision and recognition. Therefore I think jade is going to be the New Camila cabelo of LM . Not bcs she has the best voice or bcs she is the best out of the 4, but she's very likeable, she has a good voice, very poppy, she fits into the main stream style, I don't know her charisma is very contagious as well so there for I think she will be the most successful out of the 4 if she starts a solo career . Lee Ann it's in my opinion the one who's either going to drop out her music career ( unless the group gets back together) and start on something new or focus on her clothes brand.

For the rap part she should've cut it out and added a dance break section or like you said had someone replace Nicki to do the rap. I applaud her for having the courage to still perform though. Takes a lot to get on a stage that huge and perform. It also so sad, that her first debut single Has potentially caused her downfall as a solo artist. Honestly people were excited when we found out that Nicki Minaj was featured on a track it would have done well in the US Market. But the message of the song is weird and on top of that it brought all the drama between her and the group. Hopefully, her next album can be a way to wipe the slate clean. But sometimes your 1st single or track of your album sets the tone for the rest of it. Hopefully we can get an authentic Jesy on the new album. See can continue R&B, Pop, and whatever. But she needed to be a little more conscious about her content. She’s an amazing Vocalist but this whole moment with Boyz has almost destroyed her name, that’s she just created for herself. I hope for the best.

The “bad Boyz” message is definitely controversial. She came out of Little Mix which is all about empowerment and then made a song like this…I get that one can’t sing about empowerment only but I feel like we evolved as women from the I need a bad boy trope

I feel she came out a little mix expecting something of the same vibe and got rudely awakened... Little mix was a force those four girls together were a force not to be reckoned with! And it's sad that even the three girls could go out there and slay it but Jesy can't do it and her own... This girl just needs to do actual music and accept the fact that this sound isn't going to be the way to do it
@FinalBoyForum2 жыл бұрын
I’d love to support her solo pursuit but it’s just been so underwhelming so far. With the lip syncing of her debut performance and then this weird style of performance. It’s odd cos from the costuming, it’s like she’s trying to seperate herself from her LM days. However, the start of this performance, with the build up and breaking down, like you said, is very Brit awards. It reminded me of Black Magic & Shout Out To My Ex at the brits. Both had similar cuts and breakdowns. And then some of choreo was not too dissimilar to Salute choreo. It’s odd cos in parts, she’s clearly trying to break free from the Little Mix memories but in other parts, she’s relying on things already done previously… it’s a shame her whole debut has been tarnished, but it’s almost entirely self destructive at the moment in my opinion
@musicbliss772 жыл бұрын
I agree with the commentary. I don’t know what people want. If you’re not feeling the song/performance are you supposed to stay silent and not express how you feel just because it’s Jesy? It’s not hating, it’s commenting. If you decide to come out hard, sticking your tongue out, doing aggressive choreo, lip syncing and singing about bad BoyZ people will have opinion. It may not be favourable. MaYbe her next one will be better and if ppl love it the fans will love people saying good things about it. Goes both ways.

Jesy wanted to target the US market with this sound and have a hip hop edgy feel. I sort of get why she wants to debut with a boppy type song but the song just average, so it's just a thing she has to get through this song, do some performances then go again into the next song. It's a bit harsh to expect a person who has choreography to do a whole song live when many barely move and lip sync. She chose the right format in terms of sing verses and give a show for the chorus & sing behind the backing track. Jesy definitely can perform and the stage presence is at a high level. Less of the tongue and the trying to seem tough vibe is what she needs to ditch. I think on performance type songs the entertainment value come slightly above all out vocals. On mids and ballads it's vocals, vocals, vocals and that's what I'll expect during this solo stint. I see her potential, just some things to iron out. I didn't mind the production value. It gave a headline act vibe, just could have been slightly more cohesive but these things will progress.

The good thing is that she seems confident so at least that improved apparently.

The thing is that Little Mix lipsync a lot more than we actually think they do. The reason most people don’t realize is that their sound levels are usually on point in order to cover it up, and don’t sound any different from their live vocals. Jesy was always the worst at hiding the fact she was lipsyncing, and combined with really bad mixing, this just came off as SUPER awkward

Yea, the problem is that the fanbase would cry whenever you pointed out that they were not singing live and then they would go on rants about how "they're queens that are so talented and work so hard to put on amazing shows and blah blah blah" . . .cool. They're still not singing live. And it was not always just for the chorus either. Iove Sweet Melody but there are so many performances of that song where every single note is exactly the same and it's because they were performing a lipped version. It's okay for the fans to admit it.

Last comment I swear, I think the breaks in the song are to fill the entire time slot. I really like Jesy voice but this song, I’m not saying it’s not her genre, but ugh I just wish she sings live more 😭

I totally thought her first solo song would be something kind of like Jessie Reyes “Figures” or something like that. I think Jesy is so much more talented than this 💕

She’s very problematic and needs to address her culture appropriating especially black culture .
