Filipinos who are passionate about singing do karaoke leisurely and mostly the songs other than original Filipino music are from top caliber American artists of the 60s to the 90s, to mention a few, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Beyonce. For male, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, Air Supply, Journey, Bryan Adams, Michael Bolton etc. Thus, your impression that their singing style gravitates toward musical, disney and the likes. Another Filipina singer, KZ Tandingan, actually sings a couple of songs in Mandarin on Singer 2018. As well her version of Say Something on Singer 2018 is stunning. Her version of Rolling in the Deep won her first episode of Singer, ahead of Jessie J. Also with Say Something, they changed the song on her last minute. She was in the middle of learning one of the Mandarin songs and had only 24 hours to prep Say Something and get her guitarist from Manila over to China. They had no time to rehearse with the band, so it's mostly acoustic.
