That was the best analysis of this song by a reactor I’ve heard so far. This performance is a bit old and she has matured as an artist quite a bit. I love her original song Mahal Pa Kita on the WishBus. Although in Tagalog, anyone listening will appreciate the passion of this performance. If you want selection that will help your channel grow listen to her collaboration with the Filipino group Budakel covering One Sweet Day. Katrina nails the Mariah Carey part. The song is incredibly produced and will introduce you to 3 male solo artists that are also fantastic. Keep up the great reactions!!

This performance of her is a bit old but still gold. She improved alot in her current techniques. Her lows really improved alot, even her belting are more rounder than usual. She can go up to G with so much ease and power. Recommendation. I highly recommend you to react on her newest performances such as her newest single "Mahal pa kita/ I still love you." It is about longing for someone who isn't besides you anymore. Her cover of Reflection which is Astonishing! Her cover of "Hindi tayo pwede/ we aren't destined" here, she showed varieties of her vocal color/tonality, from lows, to airy falsetto's and of course her brilliant belt. Trivia: Katrina was knowed as "Suklay diva/ a comb diva" simply because she went viral singing with a comb. She joined so many local singing competitions and later joined X-factor PH, sadly she isn't the winner but it opens so many doors to her and opportunities to grab. She started doing a cover which gained hundreds and millions of views that made her career boost. She is remarkable because of her ability to sing and phrase a note for about 41 seconds without even wavering her voice, her riffs and runs really is her signature. To conclude. She is one in a billion who can cover those song that aren't made for humans. An alien indeed lol.

There are contests in some form or another in many public occasions like patron Saints feast days and there are fiestas everywhere the whole year round... "Where do all these singers in the Philippines come from?" I would like to say Tondo, Manila - where Regine Velasquez, Arnel Pineda, Katrina Velarde, Kyla Alvarez, Esang De Torres and many other singers where born - but that may just be because Manila is the most densely populated city 🙂 I know it is more of a rhetorical question of "where do they come from" but if we think about it, it's from a long cultural tradition of singing, enforced by karaoke and having a very high bar of excellence as the norm - amateur singers in the Philippines always go for the most difficult songs (Regine, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Beyonce, et al.)

She is an unusual singer as she does not rely on a "signature" vocal style like modern pop icon singers do. I like katrina's version more... It leans more where she is Hercules at that moment telling her journey... While Michael leans more in being a third person watching Hercules' story and applying what he felt at the moment unlike katrina who is really putting herself at the moment like she is the one experiencing it at the whole song

I agree. Everybody in the video spoke Tagalog, the national language, most of the time. Sometimes, they code switch to English. Closed Caption is not always available. Related. My increase in liking of Original Philippine Music + the fact that I had + still have Filipino neighbors is driving me to learn the Tagalog language. And lastly, I traveled to The Philippines. Hotter and more humid than Metro Los Angeles, where I travelled many times! 😖 🇵🇭

Hi Andreas, I was looking through your reaction video and I notice that you never reacted to Lalah Hathaway. She is the daughter of the soul legend Donny Hathaway. Her song "Something" performed with Snarky Puppy is epic. One of the greatest vocal performance I have ever heard. It' a mix of soul, funk and jazz. I'm sure that you would like it and there is a lot to analyse. Some vocal technique she uses you probably even as vocal coach never seen.
