When she was just auditioning in x-factor she disclosed about her vocal cord polyps that limit her to singing high notes and almost stop her from singing, but she did not give up and innovate her style of singing to make it comfortable for her in lower notes.

Sometimes limitations can spur creativity, as with Frank Sinatra as his voice changed when he got older. One singer, Jona Viray, who will be 35 in a few weeks, has managed to retain her super high notes, and just put them on display with a stupendous performance of a song I didn't know, from 1995, called Five Years, by Sugar Hiccup. There's a video of Klarisse and Morissette (who performed just before her) watching from the side of the stage, and Morissette was shaking and wiped away tears at the end. @@fredbloggs6080what helped Jona retain those vocals is her Technique. She’s one of the most technical singers in PH today. Also she’s not very abusive with her voice. Which I hope she continues. If you use Morissette as example. Morisette also has a very solid technique BUT around 2017-2019 you can really see that her Technique wasn’t enough to suffice the abuse in her voice (left and right guestings, not to mention more that 3 gigs per night). Lucky for her she got vocal rest during the pandemic and her husband trying to discipline her as well.

@@NoOne-uc3xe Tell me more about how her husband disciplines her. That's a joke. At first when you said left and right guestings, I thought you were referring to some part of the vocal folds, until I figured it out. I didn't know she was doing so much singing back then, and most of it probably off camera, maybe save for audience cell phones, which sort of is a waste as far as posterity goes. I see that Jona does fairly frequent community, teacher, and corporate events, and often they have venue production recordings which can be pretty good. But she probably only does one a month or a few a month at times, and usually only sings about four songs. She's so charming and engaging in those performances. She's a real professional, but she seems innocent.

Also real gone, one of my favs. The hurts that you never knew also is good. She did well to this performance. 👌🏻 I never get disappointed when it comes to her performances. She also said that she is maximalist. So expect a roller coaster to her performance. 😉

I'm a fan of KZ since X factor, we all know She's not a belter because of Her condition but she does justice.

Yes I saw a special where she disclosed her vocal problems that almost ended her career. Someone suggested that she do rapping in a competition or either for a college play or something and she found out she could wrap like a maniac😂😂😂 I think she said that C5 is about the most that she would belt❤❤❤❤ I love her no matter what she led me to GG❤❤❤ you should also check out KZ and Jaya performing feeling good❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉

She use to be a belter but got a problem on her throat and had a surgery, but she did not gave up and found a way to still do her passion for singing.

She doesn’t do/use upper notes because she had an Operation in her throat. She was even afraid that she couldn’t sing again. But she instead supplemented that with those “playful vocals”. Basically she’s using what’s available to the best of her abilities by being artistic.
