She wrote this song and it’s about an opera singer before and after a war, presumably one of the world wars. The first half is her in her glory and then second part is her descent into madness and oblivion post war. I LOVE this song

The second world war, of course. The lyrics are very complex, she uses the parallelism of the decline of an Opera diva and at the same time is telling the story of the Second World War that Germany and Italy made (Italy invented the Opera) in chronological order, even using euphemisms that the Germans used as "the final decision" when she runs her finger around his neck (when they decided to exterminate people they used this euphemism), and in parallel it tells the decline of Europe with the Second World War

The euphemism they used was the final solution, not decision. It is interesting. I wasn’t familiar with this song because you don’t hear a lot of Spanish (country, not language) music in the US. I was familiar with Sobrevivire from my time studying in Spain.

Mónica Naranjo is the best speaking voice in Spanish and one of the best in the world. Monica triumphed first in Mexico, devastating in the mid-90s, then she returned to Spain in 97, where she swept triumphing in her country where before she was not given the opportunity and now Mónica continues to triumph in Spain and Mexico !!

There's actually quite a few different kinds of recorders and professional recorder players. The recorder was really popular for baroque music and there's a lot of great pieces out there for it :) If she went to music school, which it very much sounds like she did, she probably got her hands on a very nice recorder.

Hey Beth. Great reaction, as always. People are saying, Monicas "live" performances are lip-synced. I really don't think she is lip-syncing. (She may, if she is sick or something.) There are other "live" videos of hers, where you can actually hear that it is sung live - but I think, after listening to about everything Monica has online, when you can hear that she is not lip-syncing, that means, for some reason she messes up (slightly). People, I think also some media, are trolling her with this "not singing live stuff".
