The epic guitar solo guy is Emppu Vuorinen. He's the sole guitarist of Nightwish(save for some rare clean parts Marco plays on his double neck bass/guitar), yet it never feels like the band lacks guitar in any way. He's the reliable, stable foundation of each of their works, always doing exactly what the songs need, instead of trying to show off, but can also effortlessly do explosive solos, as you've seen in this song. Every member of Nightwish is a true virtuoso at what they do and I think Emppu is a bit underrated in that regard. He deserves lots more praise than he gets.

@@fubene5495 Emppu plays what is great for the song perfectly without mistakes. Yngwie would never write anything as melodic as this that would fit well with the rest of the band, he used to play good but mostly just fast arpeggios over and over (impressive but gets boring without nice phrasing and melody). And have you seen Yngwie play nowadays? He's very sloppy.

The song as a whole is about being hurt so badly that you are afraid to love again, hence the title 'Romanticide' e.g. anti-romance and the line "till love do me part" e.g. love will be the end of me. He's been betrayed by someone, and he's saying that he knows just how deceptive and vain they are ("double-faced carnivore"). He doesn't understand why he was betrayed ("Tell me why") but wants people around him to stop trying to 'guide' him through it ("Leave me be, And cease to tell me..."). His "creations" could be his own work or the illusions he allowed himself to create about this person. The line about the "Dead Boy" is an obvious reference to the earlier song. (For some reason the line that jumps out at me is "And you....I wish I didn't feel for you anymore...") "Wine turns to water" is another reference to a lost illusion or 'miracle'. "Lord let me be wrong..." could be his inner plea that this had never happened. The "Temporary pain..." verse is him saying "Oh, you screwed up big time..."

As a book nerd, I can fully or nearly fully appreciate the inspiration of some of these songs from stories. Some I still need to read about, like Sparhawk, Tapio the bear king, & Meilikki, from the elven path. What stories are those I wonder? Probably some Finnish children's fantasy tales. If so I'm wishing for an English translated version of those. lol. Always loved how Tuomas Holopainenbrought stories to life through music. I think he said once he would read a story and hear this music in his head. Floor Jansen is a vocal goddess! And the rest of the band is equally amazingly mind-blowingly good. Best band in the world! Sorry to disappoint you but it´s not eight-finger tapping. The reason it looks like it is because Emppu´s holding on to his guitar pick with his thumb and index finger so he´s using the middle finger to tap and the rest of the fingers are curled up underneath the three first to give stability through the different tapping motions and also to keep his hand relaxed when he gets to the fast tapping passages of the solo. Still a very fluid and eloquent solo. Not an easy feat by any means.

Love it! If you feel the need for more Nightwish in you life and want to hear more of Floor's operatic vocals, check out Stargazers live at Wembly or Tempere. It's killer!

I'd like to see some more reactions to the End of an Era concert with Tarja. Songs like Wishmaster, Bless the Child or Slaying the Dreamer for example would be really good options, or if you'd like to see some of Tarja's softer vocal performances then Nemo or Sleeping Sun would be great. Regardless, this was really great to see as well.

For more Floor/Nightwish, how about Stargazers live from Tampere next? Just so you can hear her really go full ham with her soprano.

I just really like the end. Marco and Floor pulling out some power metal wailing. Pretty badass.
