Just like Linda Ronstadt, she sang every genre and excelled in them. Andrés, no sé si sabes español, pero solo quiero decirte que Rocío Dúrcal sí aprendió mucho de Juan Gabriel. No es que Juan Gabriel la enseñara a cantar, pero hay un video aquí en KZbin en donde Juan Gabriel la está dirigiendo en una canción. La carrera que hizo en México fue gracias a las canciones de Juan Gabriel y él fue el que la convenció de cantar con mariachi porque ella no estaba segura de poder hacerlo.

No sé cuántos años tienes tú, pero yo crecí viendo sus películas desde que era niña y siempre me gustó todo lo que ella hacía, la admiraba mucho. Lo único que dije es que cuando ella llegó a México, venía de una mala racha en la que hizo unas películas poco afortunadas digamos (como la de "Me siento extraña"). Fue entonces cuando conoció a Juan Gabriel y él fue el que le dió un nuevo aire a su carrera y la animó a cantar ranchero, un género con el que ella no estaba familiarizada. Sir, with all due respect, I don't know what you heard: the recording from your perspective may have sounded fine but, as I commented to Beth, she sounded okay and I could sort of hear the instrumental part but the lady sounded as if she was singing through.water. "Amor eterno (eternal love)" is a must in every burial and day of the dead ones. Leyend says that Juan Gabriel wrote it to Rocío by a son of her who died. Juan Gabriel was allways reluctant to sing it. All mariachis know it. Pretty much every singer in Mexico (at least) has it in their albums, every style, every genre, every genre band or group, they have it. Even a classic guitar version (Julio César Oliva) is over here. A cornerstone in mexican music

Just FYI, None of Rocio Durcal's children die from the accident. Her eldest daughter Carmen de Las Heras is an actress and still lives in Madrid. Other daughter Shalia is actively singing and acting and currently resides in Texas with her husband. Her son is in Europe. This song is Juan Gabriel's masterpiece wrote mourning for his deceased mother. So genuine emotions that Rocio Durcal presented in this particular concert in Mexico City was possibly due to in memory of her father who passed away in early 1980s. In one of her TV documentary, Rocio Durcal reveals that her father passing was the saddest day of her lifeline. Could you please do a critic for one of her ballad "De Que Estoy Hecha" from back catalogue. She was my biggest idol not only performing Mariachi music in concert but also ranchera, Spanish pop and love ballad. She was the one who introduced Mexican music to Spain. Spaniard starts listening to Mexican music because of Rocio Durcal.

Her first job wasn't with Camilo Sexto nor Juan Gabriel. She was already a well known star in Spain and Latin America by herself (in fact a child star that had a couple of movies done already). She started her career far before Camilo Sesto did. After marrying and having a child, she took a break from her career. When she returned, was when she associated with Camilo Sesto and Juan Gabriel. These associations made her a great star at Latin America, so she moved to México, specializing then in Rancheras, a typical mexican style (this song is a typical example of ranchera). And, her artistical name was really changed, but what was changed was her last name, Dúrcal, a little town from the province of Granada, in Andalusia. The first (artistical) name Rocío (with stress in the I, translation Dew) was given to her by her grandad, for her freshness and spontaneity.
