역시~ 듣고 또 들어도 .. 다른 고음가수들과는 확실히 차이가 있는 듯 .. 고음은 계속 들으면 질리는 데, 소향님은 단순히 고음을 지르는 게 아닌 ... 울림과 떨림, 그리고 진심과 열정을 담아 .. 가사 자체의 의미를 전달하고 그 느낌을 전달하는 게 어느 가수 중에서도 최고라고 생각됩니다. 무조건적인 고음은 연습을 통해 누구라도 어느 정도까지 가능할 수 있지만,, 노래의 가사를 듣는 이들이 각각 자신에게 노래부른다는 느낌을,, 그런 울림을,, 가져다주는 참 세계적으로도 보기 드문 가수임은 확실한 듯 합니다. 유영석 씨가 전에 한 말이 "세상에 가수는 널리고 널렸지만, 이런 가수는 정말 드물다."는 그 말이 정말 많이 와 닿네요.

Soh Yang is a 41-year-old Christian singer ... she doesn't sing commercially ... just for charities and singing to the Lord ... she has a voice blessed by God...

So Hyang does release Gospel recordings in South Korea and also does the musical vocals for many of that country's TV dramas. Sometimes she travels around the world to do concerts for churches and charities. No one can do that free of charge or they will go bankrupt immediately. So she does have to charge a professional fee in order to pay her orchestra members, keep a roof over her and her family's heads and put food on the table. Her father in law, who is the enterprise's accountant, has said So Hyang spends about 50% of her income each month, and that one time he gave her the credit card to have a good time with. In only a month she had racked up a $10,000 bill and he had to demand the credit card back! Both he and So Hyang had a good laugh over it on the TV interview! Having been married at one point in my life, I _do_ know that women can spend money like no one else! Ha, ha! 😉

One thing I have noticed, that no one comments on, is that at the start of the second verse there are two dead ringer MoTown style guitar chords played (from the 1960s) that are such a tasteful addition to this arrangement. Since So Hyang does all of the orchestrations of her performances she must have chosen to slip these in there. You just don't hear that style of electric guitar every day unless you listen to a lot of old MoTown! She is a musical genius. I saw So Hyang standing in the wings of a stage in one video listening to another South Korean woman singing Bob Dylan's "Knocking on Heaven's Door" (from the 1973 Western "Pat Garret and Billy the Kid") and she had a _very_ interested look on her face, and seemed quite entranced. I would _love_ to see her do an album and live performances of the music that moves her from the Classic Rock era sung in the rock style with a top notch rock and roll band! There are a _lot_ of old rock songs that have an excellent moral message and I am confident So Hyang would knock it out of the park! 😎😎😎😎

Thank you so much for reacting to Sohyang. It has been a while. There are two fan cams of Sohyang singing this song on her knees when she sang "Fall on your knees", and she still kills the song hitting all the incredibly high notes while on her knees. There is also one where she sang in an open concert with snow falling around her. Despite the cold air, she is hitting all the notes with ease. Yes, I get goosebumps and chills with 90% of her post 2012 songs. For most live performances of other artists, I will generally be very impressed if their vocals are out of this world, yet I do not usually get goosebumps in most instances. Most of us probably have different reactions to the same singer. I guess I resonate the best with Sohyang. PS: Male Chinese S'porean in mid 50s. Working in an employment agency. I can't remember how I found your channel. I believe I did a search for Sohyang reaction and your channel pops up.

Thanks for doing this. O Holy Night is also the first song I heard from Sohyang. It's also one of my favourite Christmas songs of all time. The Pavarotti version is still my favourite but Sohyang is so original. She offers an entirely new angle to see things. Her version is something I listen to thousands of times without getting tired.

Nice to see you come to Sohyang's O Holy Night. I wasn't sure if the threat of the copyright police could keep you away. O Holy Night, as one of the favorite songs for Xmas, has been covered so much that many don't take as much interest in watching this performance. That's too bad. Sohyang's rendition is the best I have heard. It's beautiful, joyful, and sincere in the delivery of the message of the song. I've repeated this many time. Her first verse is so cinematic and peaceful the you could almost see the scenery where the family's joy of seeing the new born in a wooden cabin with the lamp light escaping through its window, by the woods covered in white snow while the creek was murmuring in the background. She turned up the volume in the second verse when she went in full force in singing the praise for the Lord with her soaring voice. Every note felt so fitting for this performance. And she seemed so majestic, cheerful and confident on stage. BTW, I live in the U.S. and scan for videos about Sohyang everyday in the last 2 years because it is a blessing to listen to her.

@@LuciaSinatra Already written in Korean was good. But sadly in this oh holy night clip, Korean translation is awful. and One thing u should know is that almost every Koreans even middle school students could read and understand English subtitles.

Buonggiorno =D I have watched your first video of your channel just before, which is also a Sohyang song. I am from France, I love Korean music and I discovered Sohyang three years ago. I fell in love with her when usually I only listen to indie or pop song but then she made me really appreciate and love this "diva" type of singing haha. I mean, nowadays I feel it is hard to really find singers who really have such good prowess and technique, and that is part of why I love the music in Korea because they give many ways for people to showcase their talent. I love how they have so many music shows where they can sing true lives (Yu Huiyeol's sketchbook) or anonymously (Masked singer!) and so many other music shows. I am happy that you can speak English ! Though I was also happy to hear you speak Italian on the other video, at first I was going to change video but thankfully there were subtitles haha. I have to say that I truly enjoy your reactions, you are so into it ! We can see how genuine you are. I totally hit the subscribed button now. Sorry I did not do it on the first video.
