Obviously her "eating disorder" is either a ruse or not really an issue. I bet she was a fat baby and chunky adolescent. If there is any type of disorder it's that too much goes in her mouth and not enough exercise.

Yes yes yes please do a video of the rock version of this song from 1989 tour. Her voice is incredible now compared to 1989, which is just a testament to how good she is now. 1989 “We are never ever ever getting back together” has all the growls and all the attitude and please give us your take on it!! That she was starving her body during this time and STILL gave all of this- she is truly in a league of her own.

I wanna say this was nearly 2 hours in to her set for the 1989 world tour, I believe Sydney was the end of a 9 month international run. The amount of stamina she has is incredible. The moments in the first choruses where she fades into the supporting vocalists is also the way the song is done on the album. It may seem "off" but it was probably intentional to add to the feeling of drowning in the anxiety the song is about.

She has a scientifically rare color of eyes! Electric blue. I know I’m being overprotective but if you listen to the studio version, a lot of the issues are intentional because of the anxiety driving the song. She was also not in good health at the time based on her documentary comments.

Collectively Taylor's backing vocalists are called The Starlights. Three of the singers (Kamilah Marshall, Melanie Nyema and Eliotte Nicole (Woodford)) did the Reputation Stadium Tour, the 1989 World Tour and the Red Tour before that. The fourth singer is Clare Turton Derrico (the white singer here, for ease of indentification) who just had a new baby when Rep Tour came around, and was replaced by Jeslyn Gorman. The four singers on Rep Tour also did The Eras Tour. Fun fact Clare Turton Derrico is the wife of Justin Derrico, who is P!nk's guitarist and she was also a backing vocalist on some of P!nk's tours. Like P!nk, Taylor has always had singers who have a very similar sound to hers so that the backing vocals which she would have done herself sound "right".

She's just saying that it was a lot to do the dancing and singing at the same time like that. It takes away from the singing because the energy is spread out. Taylor is a lot better now at prioritizing what needs to be done in a concert I think because it's more balance. She was still great then. It was just more structured and now at the Eras Tour she seemed much more free, like it looked natural for her.
@jaylynn8630
@jaylynn8630 Жыл бұрын
1989 was her tour right before Reputation, and she was only 25, so of course her vocal performance has come a long way since then. In fact, that's one of the things I really like about her as singer - from stuff like this, you can really tell that she has been continually working on her vocal technique throughout her career. It's her most pure pop album, so I think that's part of why there's more focus on glam. Because that's just kind of how pop is, y'know? But also, other songs on that tour were not performed in the same way this was. And about her vocals getting lost in the background singing, I would argue that that's probably a deliberate, artistic choice, to create the atmosphere of being "lost in the woods" and convey the feeling of kind of being swallowed up by all these circumstances surrounding you. It's pretty much the same way in the studio recording.

Concerning the dancing and everything, I feel like Taylor really wanted to "play" being a huge pop star is that makes sense :D She was and is big of course, but especially the 1989 era felt a lot like "I'm a model and a pop star and I'm constantly partying with my extremely famous friends". She really leaned into that image, because she understood quickly that being "the girl from next door which is exactly like you" didn't work anymore. That's when she tried being the world-famous biggest pop star ever that you could still be friends with (really emphasized that with her Instagram and Tumblr posts and the 1989 secret sessions where she invited fans to come to her house and listen to the new album with her while eating self baked cookies). In conclusion: That defnitely was Taylor being herself, I just think she wanted 1989 to be that big pop star era (which might explain why she only had male back up dancers and didn't do as much with her backup singers as she does now, wore only these increadibly tight outfits with short skirts or skintight pants and everything). As we know now, her self-overexposure (She made a very good job at portraying her even bigger as she actually was at that time) led to her being hated on. People were sick of her "dumb, cheap, heartbreak songs". and her and her songs being literally everywhere. I hope that makes sense, and of course that's no criticism from me, I

The editors for the 1989 tour were crazy with everything cause they were constantly changing angles (I think the longest angle was like 10 seconds) and they really filtered everything bright. Her eyes are pretty blue, but the editors made them WAY too prominent.

A someone with an education in film production, the colour grading in this movie really stuck out to me, too. The blues are pushed into dark, indigo blues. Like you said, her eyes are blue, but not that specific blue. When something like this is filmed, it comes out looking grey-washed. This is due to the video being in a log format, which essentially means that it preserves the detail in all the dark and bright areas which would usually be lost with other compression formats. The techy stuff isn't too important, but all that you need to know is that from the camera to when it's put into the colour grader's computer, it looked grey-ish and low saturation. The job of the colour grader is exclusively to add that colour back in to get either a realistic look or a stylistic look, based on whatever the director wants. So, the director would have had the final say on how the colours came out, and it's obvious they went for a more stylistic look here, whether that was intentional or not. The colour grading on The Eras Tour movie was fantastic.

In 2003 (at 13) she signed with a manager whose other client was Britney Spears. She dropped her major label Development deal & got a publishing deal w/ Sony/ATV at 14. But in 2005 (at 15) she dropped him. She later signed to an indie label. She could find management that aligned with her vision- so at 16 she hired the label's radio guy as her manager (no experience) & began her own management team.

During this 1989 era, she was struggling with her eating disorder, trying to make herself elevated as a pop star, and she had ONE chance to prove her place as a performer. She would put her soul into these performances but instead of feeling exhilarated by the feeling, she was collapsing because of her eating disorder. Now she’s got a handle on her disorder and we’re so proud of her for sticking through and growing into who she is now

I think it's really important to review performances that aren't as strong as others. I think it's fascinating that you can hear small differences. It's a reminder that even when someone looks and sounds great there are little tells that indicate the difficulties a person is going through. We know now that she was struggling, but most people had no idea at the time. It makes me wish that she could see this as a reminder that she sounds better when she's healthy - I think it would be a great reassurance and motivator to stay healthy. And she is still awesome even when she isn't 100%.

I personally would rather hear this instead of Bad Blood at the tour. Imagine this with her new voice.

You should watch some of the “rock” covers she does of her songs

yes her eyes are a rare blue color called "electric blue" --- but also, you have the stage lights in her face, and that can change the color a lot sometimes. She was wearing contacts on stage (from her school days until she got lasik surgery in 2019 (and her mom sent Jimmy Fallon some video of Taylor looped out on painkillers). Swift and Fallon, Oct. 2019 kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4vChHmYlt6mfs0 If you watch some of her early videos about school (You Belong With Me, Story of Us) she wears glasses. No reason to wear props, when she needed them anyway.

You need to analyze when she performed the same song at the Grammy museum playing the piano...it was solid!

Just a quick question... have you ever heard any songs from Evanescence? The vocalist Amy Lee has a voice that you shouldn't miss. I would recommend for you to listen my immortal for first... I'm sure you won't regret it.

Listen lady…. It’s a story she’s telling when she’s singing. If the story started out powerful then it would’ve been written that way. Taylor was just as powerful in her lyrics towards the end of the song and you’re judging by the typical song which it isn’t. It was a story….
