Brittney Slayes comes on a lot of reactor's channels... you should reach out to her.. since you are from their hometown, you'd have a 99.9% chance of interviewing her... you could ask about how they made this video, etc. Also, would be interested in her development as a vocalist...

Here's a vague breakdown to give you a bit of context behind this songs lyrics and the album it's from - Apex(2017). This is a concept album telling a story track by track about an Immortal being. This is the opening song on the album. It is sung from the Immortals perspective(not all the tracks are), about being awoken in his mountain hollow from a 1000 year sleep. As a covenant of birth, the immortal must do the bidding of whoever awakens him. As the tracks progress, you find out that The Matriarch(which is played by the male vocalist in this song Awakening) was the one to awaken him. She wants him to find her four sons, so she can kill them and perform a blood ritual to gain immortality for herself(pretty dark haha), and his journey to find them. Each son has their own song about them on the album. The closing song Apex, is about the immortal going back to sleep in his mountain and it is a phenomenally written song. Their new album which released in August, is a continuation of this story, and the immortal has awoken on a spaceship confused as hell wondering where tf his mountain is lol from the single Abyss. I won't go into the rest of the album lol but i highly recommend reacting to the song Abyss She utilizes vocal layering in the studio. She will record 2 or more layers to get the choir effect she's looking for.

as someone else said the SM7B is the workhorse mic of metal bands in a studio. It's perfect for the very high dynamics involved in the typical chorus belts and screams. and the pop filter is removeable but the mic does look strange with out it for sure. Courtney LePlant of sprit box also uses a SM7B in her one take recordings. I would recomend rule of nines one take if you want to check out another BC girl that absolutely shreds vocally.

The SM7b is used in studios for vocals due to it's large-diaphragm, as well as drum kicks. The foam you are referring to is a simple windscreen while the pop filter, if you can call it that, is a metal grill underneath that is covering and protecting the capsule. Personally, I am not a fan of condensers for shooting any sort of videos or spoken word but I love dynamics. When you have a very well treater room a condenser is typically the best choice due to their higher sensitivity, larger frequency response, and transient response.

You should really check out there cover of the song Northwest Passage when you react to them again. The video for that song can be slightly confusing though until you realize that the video is depicting the band experiencing alternate and converging realities where the "evil" Brittney shown at the beginning of the video finds another reality that she likes better and decides to try and take the place of the other Brittney.
@MaskedNozza4 жыл бұрын
So _that's_ what was going on in that! I've been wondering what was happening there

@@MaskedNozza Yeah. It took me several watches of the video to piece together what was going on. The real question that was kind of left up in the are is if the evil Brittney only killed the one Brittney that she wanted to replace or did she kill ALL of the Britney's from all of the other realities? Hmmmm? Interesting cliff-hanger. :-)

One where they're actually performing the song that is being recorded (this is the one where they are shown individually), and one where they're all together as a band (I don't believe this is being recorded, but in the last part of the song it might be because there are no individual shots after the breakdown). So you're half right, half wrong about them shooting it for the camera.
