Pharyngeal placement. That's the key. I'd been misusing my chest/belt voice for years because NO ONE told me that the mix and bridge between registers, particularly when singing more commercial based music, was specifically found in the pharyngeal cavity until I went to the Army School of Music and learned this from the vocal instructor there. Or at least the tricks my previous teachers were having me do weren't specifying precisely where the sound should be placed. It made me feel like my 4 year musical theatre degree was useless because most of the voice teachers during my time in college were still stuck in classical and "Golden Age" musical theatre land, and therefore had no idea how to teach more contemporary styles of music, or even dead against it. Now I'm undoing YEARS of bad muscle memory, WOOF.

there's no such thing like a placement,you cannot place that approach on your voice.

@@VivianReedVocals Yes there is...I've been singing half my life and half of THAT time professionally. That's why vocal registers are a thing, sound is used/placed in those resisters.

I gues you're not researching about vocal pedagogy because everything about music are from vocal pedagogy. the sounds are never placed but used there's a difference you cannot place a sound on your throat but you can control it.

I love her so much, she teaches every race how to sing, not just black, not just white, EVERYONE, usually school choir teachers only know how to teacher a certain color how to bring out there voice because that’s what color THEY are, but she knows how to get anyone to bring out there voice.
