Disclaimer y'all! This is only a vocal warm up that can only help your voice if you hardly sing much. Besides singing with songs or only doing karaoke this will slowly help your voice warm up much more easier when you are going to sing seriously. If you are beginner singer, try to do this warm up step by step and do not RUSH yourself! Your voice is your voice and you can sing however you want to.

Even though I don't have plans on becoming an artist or performing on the stage.. I’m OK at singing. But I thought that I needed improving so after I sang infront of my whole class and asked my performing arts teacher for a bit of help, I was lead to here. Your energy just reaches the other side of the screen and it’s so positive. Hopefully I can try improving, though I’m having trouble with using my abs and not my throat.

I am SURE you'll improve, baby!!! Use your boxing gloves to engage your core and avoid throat tension!! ❤️ Keep practicing, baby!!❤️❤️❤️
@MoPoppins4 жыл бұрын
Practice the SIREN exercise, since it requires using the core to support your voice, as you get to the tippity-top of your range. Another thing you can try to train your body to understand which muscles you should use for singing, is to get in PLANK position. Push your forearms and toes into the ground and notice what your abs do, Yup...engages the CORE. It’s the same exact feeling you should have when singing.You’ll feel (and see) your lower abdominal muscles tuck in, as you need more support for higher pitch or increased dynamics, and when your core correctly does the work, you won’t be pushing up at your throat. It’s primarily MUSCLE MEMORY (through practice & establishing habit) that’ll make it second nature. You can do it! 👏 👏 👏

@@CherylPorterVocalCoach Ms. Cheryl Porter I have a question... How do I sing from my diaphragm?
@nylahgreen34704 жыл бұрын
@@sammabo9135 I know I'm not her, but what helped me in the beginning is doing breathing exercises! Before you start them, "plop" down your shoulders to temporarily disengage them and then breathe in really deeply. When you breathe in, slowly push your stomach out like you're filling up a ballon. Train your shoulders to not rise when you do this. When you breathe out, slowly squeeze your stomach back in. Really use all of the muscles in your stomach to push out. Practice this a couple of times before singing. This is how you should sing; the higher or louder you get, you should squeeze your stomach more to gain power from your diaphragm and not your throat. As a general rule of thumb, you should not feel any type of pain or squeeze in your throat. It should be relaxed and feel open. Hope this helped!

I’ve been going this for about 6 days now (I started August 16th) and I can feel a slight difference. There isn’t as much strain in my voice with singing my favorite songs after practice (although I’m by no means a great singer). I’m going to do weekly updates to see how far I come by this time next year.: Week 1- Lessened strain with singing. Week 2- Continuing to lessen strain while singing although I still struggle on notes that are extremely high or low. The biggest noticeable change is my breath control. I don’t gasp for air as much when changing rapidly between notes. I DID notice that my voice still noticeably cracks when transitioning to different vocal ranges in songs, so in the middle of this week, I incorporated one of her exercises for voice cracking. It’s slow progress with improving the cracking, so we’ll see how it goes. Week 3- More progress was made with straining. I’ve noticed I can extend notes for longer and the voice crack video has helped with cracking. However, I run out of air and crack if I sing higher or lower notes. Week 4- So a month has passed, and while I’m no Beyoncé I will say it’s amazing how much progress gets made with consistency. I’ve been doing this as a fun little past time so it made it easier not to be hard on myself for results or micromanagement every possible change noticed (hence the weekly instead of daily updates). However with the passing of a month, I can tell that I am definitely much better than I was when I first started. Muscle memory is amazing because sometimes when I try to hit notes slightly higher than my old range I cringe, expecting my voice to crack, but get pleasantly surprised when it doesn’t. As I said, I’m no amazing singer now, but singing slightly above or below my range doesn’t make my voice crack like it used to. Now it only cracks when I go extremely higher or lower than my range, but I’m hoping that changes by the 6 month mark. I’m thinking of adding more exercises in for further improvement too.

I just got done being sick. This exercise helped me get the rest of the built up mucus off my vocal cords and helped to open my airways up again some more. Thank you.

This 10 min exercise and 1 other that I also do daily has helped me so much!! I used them as my warm up for 7 days straight and the improvement has been extraordinary! I am engaging my core more, have finally figured out how to sing without tension in my throat! Thank you so much miss Cheryl!!
@Paynos_Marshmallow💖 the vocal coach from that link I sent has been a big help. I think she may have a video that talks about how to sing without tension but even the video I just sent has some pointers in it. Yawning is a great exercise to do when you're warming up cause it helps with tension as well! Let me know how it goes!! Good luck 💜💙💚

Our lead music teacher at my high school made our entire choir (only 20 of us currently - small but I think it’s a good amount) made us do this warmup and warm down one practice- now at each big performance we use this video and it’s so much fun and makes us giggle- it’s also a really fun initiation ritual for all the freshmen and new members that join at the start of the year!

That's a big choir! I'm in my church choir, and there's only about 6 other people, one 24 year old with an amazing voice, and 5 croaky old ladies, I joined because 1: I like singing, and 2: I couldn't bear to listen to this atrocious choir for one more day, and I decided maybe my voice could soften the creakiness (no offense to them, but their voices just aren't at their prime anymore)
