She's not the original singer though. It's another Filipino artist named Ima Castro, I believe. I think that's the one. I remember looking up the original version last year.

Rosannasfriend she was chosen to be the original singer for the competition of the said song pero umangal ang mga katunggali niya kasi she’s noted to slay and win kay nabigay kay Imee. Trina wrote the song and imagined Regine singing it.

Shine is an entry in the 1996 Metro Manila Pop Music Festival where it won 2nd place through Ima Castro's interpretation. The song didn't take off as much as it did after Regine Velasquez reprised it in 2005 and has since then been more associated with her discography than the former's. Personally, Morissette A and Katrina V have their own takes on this masterpiece but none has so far replicated, all the more surpassed the level of exquisiteness Regine has put it at. Can't wait for your own rendition.

SHINE is REGINE VELASQUEZ' song .....She recorded it few years ago .... It was a Single CD .... and I was able to have it as one of my collections .... The story behind this song was , it was one of the Finalists in the Metropop Music Festival and it was interpreted by Ms Ima Castro ..... but Regine Velasquez officially recorded it as a single CD, years later .....The single CD has 2 versions , the other one was an Upbeat SHINE cover ....The song wasn't a hit until Regine released it .....
