I appreciate your professional reactions about Marcelito. Commentaries such as this adds more to the kind of talent that he has. Some reactors even commented that he might be an alien hahaha! He is a phenomenal singer...one in a million...He is the grand winner of Pilipinas Got Talent here in my country. He did not have a formal vocal training, he is a naturally gifted singer. He guested in the Ellen Degeneres Show in the US and sang for the royal family in Spain. Obrigado!

Singing with dual voices is frequent in the Philippines ("doble kara"). He had a rough life when he was young- father in prison, mother left him; adopted, uneducated, worked odd jobs, etc. Marcelito won 2011 Philippines Got Talent finale with "The Prayer" (and 2 million pesos). He is now furthering his education, reunited with his family, and married (and has a daughter). He sounds astoundingly similar to Celine Dion singing "The Prayer" in a side by side video comparison. I have seen two native Italian speakers who have reacted to this video say that his pronunciation of Italian is excellent. In case NOBODY informed you yet. 1. Marcelito Pomoy’s father was IMPRISONED when he is only 8 months old. His mother left and took only her two elder sisters so he lived in jail with his father until he was 2 years old. 2. He was “adopted” by a police officer BUT he was not treated well so by age seven, he RAN AWAY (that’s why he ONLY FINISHED GRADE 2-the reason also, he had an INTERPRETER because, he is NOT fluent in English) and lived in the STREETS. 3. He did ODD JOBS - pinboy (arranging the bowling pins), Balut vendor (cooked egg with developing embryo), construction worker and later at the poultry farms. 4. It was during cleaning CHICKEN COOPS (18 years old) that he discovered doing TWO VOICES. 5. He entered different contests locally doing “DOBLE-KARA” SINGING and later reunited with his father (who was his frequent costumer when he was selling balut). 6. He entered “Talentadong Pinoy” so that he can appear on TV hoping to be reunited with his mother and sisters. He did NOT win. 7. He auditioned for “PILIPINAS GOT TALENT” and he was an instant favorite. During the Finals, he said that “EVEN IF HE WILL NOT WIN, HE IS ALREADY A WINNER BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN REUNITED WITH HIS FAMILY.” So humbling. Marcelito is UNDERRATED here in the Philippines because, there are a LOT of “Dual-Singers” here, so SOME think, his talent is just ordinary. THEY FORGOT THAT: 1. Marcelito has NO FORMAL singing lessons 2. He is a STRAIGHT GUY (most Filipino dual-singers are GAYS. (sorry) 3. He is the ONLY dual-singer that can IMITATE the ORIGINAL SINGERS 4. and MOST IMPORTANTLY, he can do it EFFORTLESSLY…. NO facial strains! NONE! As in SOOOO EAAAASSSY for him getting that VERY HIGH NOTES that UNTIL NOW, VOCAL SINGERS ARE ARGUING if it is a FALSETTO OR A REAL VOICE. FUN FACTS: 1. The “YAWN” that he does after he sings is actually HIS TRADEMARK. He was joked of “swallowing” a girl while singing, so the “yawn” means, HE IS “VOMITTING the girl. 2. He is a NATURAL COMEDIAN, and can do ONE-MAN DRAMATIC SHOW with his voice, complete with sound effects (like what he did at the LAST PART of “The Power of Love”)

Existem alguns professores que estão chegando a conclusão que o verdadeiro apoio consiste em conseguir segurar a saída de ar com o diafragma (baixa soprosidade com pressão) e nunca empurrar! Segurar o ar durante o canto é uma tarefa difícil e contraintuitiva, pois o corpo tenta expulsar o ar com muita força no processo de fala!

Marcelito Pomoy era sem-teto e é autodidata. Biologicamente, ele é raro: capaz de expandir suas cordas vocais e posicionar sua laringe para alcançar o registro masculino, mas ele pode contraí-las de um modo que geralmente só as mulheres conseguem. "To give you a background on the life of Marcelito Pomoy.... he was born into a broken family, his mother left the family when he was still at a very tender age of 2 years old and his father ended up in jail, with no relatives wanting to help, Marcelito had no other choice but to join him and stay inside the jail with his father for such a long time. Eventually one of the prison guards took him home and provided his needs while his dad had to continue serving his prison sentence. He studied kindergarten through to his 3rd grade in grade school in a local public school. He was neglected in that family so at a very young age of about 8 years old left home and walked the streets of Manila in search of his mother whom he really never knew, often going for days hungry, doing whatever odd jobs he can do to be able to buy a piece of bread or scraps of food he could find on the streets. All that time he learned to humm and sing to himself to sleep. He did so much variety of odd jobs like being a helper in construction sites, mixing cement manually with gravel and water and carrying it to the guys needing to build hollow blocks with cement, etc., selling boiled duck eggs which is a popular delicacy called "Balot" upto the wee hours of dawn, peddling ice cream to earn a few cents, any job an under 12 year old kid could do Marcelito had done it. He would hang around clubs and restaurants and watch in amazement at the talent of the singers' performing while he watched from outside the door. He started singing himself and follow the way he sees the singers sing and thru the years he kept on imitating any singer he could watch on other people's TV singing. He was a no read no write kid having left his 3rd year public grade school education to fend for himself and survived all those years. He worked cleaning chicken pens in huge chicken farms and sang to the chickens while cleaning their pens and it was while singing to his audience of egg laying chickens that he discovered he could sing both a male and female voice. He honed his skills further and after gaining confidence in singing other artists songs copying exactly the singers breathing pattern, diction, way of delivering their songs, etc, joined a Philippines TV network conducting a singing competition in Manila. He passed the audition and went on the semi finals and grand finals.. He won the competition hands down despite so many excellent competitors. His monetary prize was such a huge amount to him that he never imagined he would be able to own in his lifetime as a grade 3 school educated adult. He signed a record contract with the recording studio arm of the same TV network and the rest is now history. His SUFFERINGS in life I just barely touched on the surface.... You won't be able to watch his KZbin videos about his life story coming from Marcelito Pomoy because he is not comfortable talking in conversational American English. He can sing almost any song in so many different languages with the help of a diction coach but talk to him in English, interview him in English and he would need a translator to assist him. He is very rich now in terms of an average Filipino earning a decent living in manila, he bought a decent home with his earnings from the singing contest and is one of the most sought after performer in the Philippines with concerts in Canada, Dubai, Spain and so many other countries. He married his girlfriend and they have a child now to enrich their married blissful life as a family. He was able to reunite his mother, father and siblings. His father had to return to his own family but joins them from time to time. Marcelito has now returned to school to be more confident in his life but it's still a very long way to go for him. He does an excellent job of emulating the diction, way of delivering of the singers he hears and watches. His favorite singer is Celine Dion and Andre Bocelli and the PRAYER is one of his favorite songs. He first listens to each song he wants to sing, following their pronunciation, breathing patterns, etc until he's able to follow them like he did with Celine Dions songs, etc. In a later interview about why Marcelito acted by cupping his mouth as if he was coughing at the end of this song, HE jokingly said he wanted to bring out the woman in him. ( Referring to Celine Dion I presumed !!!) I hope I have shed some light on Marcelito Pomoy. Let's not forget he still is in his grade school level education but he's getting there. I'm Mr. Briones, from the Philippines, too, like Marcelito is, but I've migrated to Australia living in the beautiful city of Sydney. I'm sorry if I've stepped on the toes of one of your viewers talking about his life story. I wanted to explain further in detail Marcelito Pomoys' life story. God Bless us all.
