I heard her say in an interview that she doesn’t wear shoes so she can feel the vibrations of the band in her feet . It’s one thing to hear the music, something totally different to feel the music. The band can make or break a vocalist. Wilson Picket once said during his recording of Hey Jude that Duane Allman’s fill in riffs inspired him immensely and without them his version wouldn’t have been near as powerful as it was.

At age 6 she was traveling in middle east with her Grandma, artist Mery Zamani, Iranian. Walking in a street, she noticed a girl about her age trying to get money from people by weighing them with bathroom scales. She stopped and talked to the girl, learned she was orphaned with siblings. She learned the girl wanted to be a doctor but couldn't because she had no parents to send her to school. Angelina noticed that though it was cold, the girl had no shoes and scars on her feet. Angelina was wearing "my favorite sea-green ankle boots" but took them off and gave them to the girl over her protests. Since then she has sworn to never wear shoes on stage until every child worldwide has shoes. The book she wrote on the story, titled "Between Two Hearts", available in Norwegian, made her the youngest published author in Norway at age 9. Angelina just turned 9 two months before she recorded this. It wasn't released until she was 10. She was 6 when she met a homeless girl, around 7, weighing people to support her younger siblings. It was cold and the girl had no shoes. Angelina gave her the shoes she was wearing and promised to always remember her by not wearing shoes on stage until all children had shoes. She was 6!! She is now 16 and holds onto that promise.

Great reaction. The story of her bare feet is one of unbelievable commitment and caring. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling in the middle east (her grandmother is Iranian), and she came across a young girl close to her age who was working in the street offering to weigh people with a bathroom scale for money. She had no shoes on her feet and her feet were cracked and in pretty bad shape. They talked for a while and then the little girl mentioned how nice she thought Angelina's shoes were. Angelina asked her if she had any shoes and she said no, so Angelina gave her the shoes off her feet. Angelina asked her what her dreams were and the little girl said she wanted to be a doctor. Angelina told the little girl that she wanted to be a star and sing for the world. The little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day and asked Angelina to not forget about her. Angelina made a promise at that time that any time she sang in public she would sing barefoot to remember this little girl and bring awareness to the suffering of children around the world. To this day, over 9 years later, she has stayed true to that commitment. She remains a very grounded and humble young lady She has spent the past 9 years pouring out her soul and her talent to help people who are not as fortunate as her. She donated much, if not most of her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to children's charities and has performed in benefit concerts across the globe in support of disadvantaged children and other social causes (raising over 20 million Euros).

9 years and 2 months old Angelina is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz". She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio recording. She (age 8) gave a several interviews after winning Norway's Got Talent, where she said that when living in the Middle East, at age 6 y/o, she came across a similarly aged orphan girl sitting in the street, earning money by weighing people on a bathroom scale. She noticed how really cold it was and that the little girl was not only barefoot, but had scars on her feet. So 6 year old Angelina took off her own shoes, shoes that she said she loved, and gave them to the girl. Angelina decided she wouldn't wear shoes in her performances to remind her of all the children in the world who had no parents, proper clothes, or shoes. She considers her agemate every time she takes off those shoes. On her Republic Records homepage, Angelina is also quoted as saying "I sing barefoot as a reminder of all the kids in the world who need help and support." During one such interview, the host had Angelina read from her diary. Of the encounter, little 6 year old Angelina wrote in her diary: “The world is very strange. Right then and there I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.” In 2015, at 9 years of age, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter (making her the youngest published author in Norway). Angelina helped raise 21 million euros and millions of dollars for child focused charities. She turned 16 this January, and now lives in Los Angeles.

Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East.

You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. Angelina wrote an incredibly emotional song called "Million Miles" in memory of her beloved grandfather who had just passed away (at that time). She was 13/14 years old. She recorded it later as her first single for her new label, Republic Records. Do a reaction to the black and white live studio version. It is one of three companion videos. The others are the actual official Republic video music release and a lyrics version. I highly recommend doing a reaction to the lyrics version second. It is the same recording as the official version but has graphics done by her grandmother, a noteworthy Iranian artist. With these videos, she has produced a quite stunning beginning of her career with Republic. Also, the pianist in the live studio video is a very high up Republic executive. Angelina commented that when she was in the studio doing the song she cried throughout the session. You can hear and see the pain she feels for her loss when you watch the live studio set. She said she wanted the song to be for anyone that had such a loss. With consideration to that background to her song, you will get as emotional as she was when she recorded it. She has this magical vocal power that draws you into this other dimension. She has always put her soul and emotions into her works. She arranges most all her music, as she has been doing since she began performing over the past ten plus years.

Angelina’s Mother is from Norway, Daddy Swedish, Granny Irani and Grandpa was Japanese, so English is her fifth language because if she was to become a singing star she had t0 sing in English. Around age 6 the family lived in Iran for six months and one day AJ saw a homeless girl, her age, weighing people on a bathroom scale for whatever coins they would give her. AJ talked to her for a while and the girl told her she had wanted to become a Doctor. AJ told her to not give up hope. AJ had on her most favorite pair of Teal color boots but gave them to her anyway. The girl was reluctant to take them but eventually did saying she would pray everyday for AJ and all the kids with no shoes. AJ told her that when she saw her singing with no shoes, she would know that AJ had not forgot about her and would do whatever she could for the other children. When AJ got back to Norway she wrote a book about it. Her Granny, a Prodigy herself. Illustrated the book and AJ becam the youngest published arthor in Norways history at qge 6.

Bodil Niskas jazz cafe and recordshop in Oslo was a place that Angelina spent a lot of time in from she was 4-5 years old, listening to all the old masters of jazz and often some mid day concerts on the tiny stage in that wonderful place that Bodil had ( The place closed in the covid lockdown) It´s name was "bare jazz". I miss that place.
