I do not understand why some people insist Aguilera sang it before Leah Salonga. The Mulan film was released in 1998, with production for Leah Salonga's part wrapping up as early as 1996, then Disney had it re-recorded in 1997 to shorten the scene for the final cut of the movie. Aguilera's pop version was recorded 1998, and was released as a single which catapulted her to super stardom. I think people just assumed that because Aguilera was a long time Mickey Mouse Club talent since her early teens, no one else could have first been given the honor of singing the iconic song in the movie - especially not an southeast asian like Leah Salonga.

@@jay71115 tho I hate how this Ausieboy replied but let us put it this way, Christina's version was the *_Original_* Sound Track(OST) of the movie hence 2 of them are the OG singers. Lea for the singing voice in the movie and Christina for the OST. Just like the other animated films that have different singers for the movie and the official soundtrack. Like Beauty and the Beast which was performed by Angela Lansbury for the film and sung by Peobo Bryson and Celine Dion for the OST. Now, If we are talking about popularity, CA's version falls under the category of pop which is short for popular. It was used as the promotional song during the promotional period and at the same time as her debut song which made the song popular during that time. It was played on every music platform like FM radios and tv music channels like MTV etc. Due to its success, producers funded Christina's first album.

This is a cover of Christina's NEW version of the song from the Live Action movie, the re-make of Mulan. Since Christina did such a great job when she covered the song the first time, Disney asked her back for the second round. Her version is AWESOME too...just that Kat out-sings Christina here... You must check out Christina's version, it is still worth the time.

Please review your own vids volume. The balance between you and the performance you are reviewing is not good. Why not plug the audio of the performance into your vid audio (like most pro reactors do)? You are not doing the performance justice by the current mix. I suggest that, if you are do not get the audio right - you will not increase your subscribers as quickly as you could. Good luck.
