Thank you guys for reacting to this version of Power. I prefer this version because Morissette had control over the final product and because there wasn't the distraction of the beautiful women LOL. Kudos to this stunning artist for shooting this on her iPhone with the phone mic....allowing us to hear Morissette raw. Few (if any) artists would allow themselves to be that exposed. Perhaps the next place to explore with Morissette is her original music (off her EP) or her cover of Run To You (Whitney would be proud).

​@@seugenio100 Couldn't agree more. Morissette did not need to share the stage with those gentlemen. They were at best....singers on a cruise ship and Morissette is a stunning artist who needs to be on the worlds largest stages. The whole production was sub par and not even close to what should be supporting Morissette. Most importantly...the audience was nearly ALL Filipino (which is fantastic) but you can see that the producers did not even bother to reach out to the rest of the Los Angeles audience. Lazy!!!

@@VocalLabCollective I'm a little late, but when Morissette sang this for Miss Universe Philippines she had basically just gotten off the plane from a 3-4 week concert tour of the west coast where she was at a different venue seemingly every night. This performance was done out of the usual sequence in getting a song performance ready. Morissette went with it and did what Morissette does, she killed it. I've learned that when it seems to be an impossibility Morissette will get it done. Well my work here is done. I'm not sure what I've done, but it is something.

She performed this LIVE 2 days after a month in the US on tour , at the Miss Universe Pageant Philippines 2022 and didn't have much time to rehearse. written by Kiko Salazar ( Akin Ka Na Lang) and hoped to have a studio version made before Kiko left for Berklee, but she got sick....so with her and hubby Dave Lamar having a studio she got busy.....this is the 1st take.....and she had the finished version completed in 20 minutes.....available on ALL music platforms. Bastos ( what Dave says at the end means.... RUDE ( in a complimentary way ) how good she is.

Thanks to both of you for this awesome reaction to Morissette's first take recording of the song "Power". It was written by Francis Salazar, who also wrote Mori's iconic song "Akin Ka Na Lang". It was written specifically for the Miss Universe Philippines pageant 2022, and it was written for Mori. Francis of course know her capabilities, that's why those high notes and even the key change are there. Did you know that she performed this song for the first time live in the pageant itself without prior recording? At that time she has just finished a concert tour in the US, and upon returning to the Philippines it was already the coronation, so they did not have time to do a recording of the song, they just have to do a rehearsal in the morning together with the candidates. And she did a stellar performance that night you've got to watch it, three former Miss Universe were there together with the reigning Miss Universe 2021, and they surely got empowered while walking on the stage with Mori singing this. 💖 Miss Katie, you are right, in this video Mori did not only display her amazing and incredible talent, but also gave us a hint of her personality. Yes, she is a bubbly, happy, humble, very sweet and very kind, down to earth person. And the man beside her is her loving and very supportive husband, Dave Lamar, a songwriter, singer, musician, videographer, director. We can see how happy they are together and how comfortable they are with each other. They are a power couple! And nowadays, Mori is so much busy with so many singing engagements, yet she always delivers the best performances, like in this first take recording session, and in my opinion, it's because she is so inspired and energetic with Dave always by her side. ❤️

By the way, I couldn't help but notice you guys actually froze when Morissette started singing "Power" while stripped down a few seconds before the effects came in. kiko Salazar who wrote AKIN KA NA LANG wrote this not long before the MISS UNIVERSE CONTEST, there is a Video where Mori is doing a rehearsal and learning her marks on stage, Mori got this song I think 24 hours before from kiko and had to learn the lyrics, then when Mori did the show and sang this song she made a little mistake near the end where she did not hit a note correctly she was not happy because she did everything great up till then, then Mori and Dave had to wait until there Studio was finished, then Mori was ill so it took longer than they wanted, still Mori was the Star of the MISS UNIVERSE CONTEST it was the last song of the show, but this was raw and beautiful and fun.
