The Decapitator plug definitely has some great and interesting uses. A plug-in I rarely see engineers mention is Waves NS-1. It’s a diamond in the rough. I’ll get stems from when an artist has recorded on the road and the acoustics are bad or they use one of those “Iso Shields” around the mic but the preamp is cranked and they’re using a TLM-103 where I can hear every move in the room. Otherwise for the ones that know: Antares Auto-Tune EFX, FabFilter Pro-DS, Pro-Q2, Volcano, Pro-MB & Timeless 2, Waves Vocal Rider, Reel ADT, H-Delay & Doubler, UAD API 560, 1176, RVox, SoundToys Little Radiator, Decapitator & MicroShift, Audio Ease Altiverb or Valhalla🤘🏼🤙🏼

I love your videos and watch every video. You have made me a better engineer so thank you. I have a video request. I've seen you use tons of different brands of plugins and mixing styles but I've never seen you use Slate Digital or review them? Id love to see you reviewing their products and building a mix using their VMR because I think they are cutting edge and affordable and could be a great tool in every engineers arsenal.

Bro thx but what’s your opinion I use Logic Pro x and this is my parallel chain: 1. My vocal with printed processing 2. I have my parallel going out on a bus thru Fabfilter Saturn, then I squash it with a CLA 76 , top off with eq Did I need to do any extra steps? Also I noticed you controlled your parallel through your volume fader instead of gain, is that recommended??

@votoking6743 жыл бұрын
Thanks bro for the tips. I’m new to protools as I’ve always used reason but the DSP issues means I use reason to make beats and protools to mix it. Can you let me know how I can make the pan knobs on protools show. Plus why everytime I upload any drums protools put it into stereo. Is there a way around this? I’m having to split into mono and delete the stereo one but the pan knows disappear immediately. I’m trying to pan some of the drums slightly left and right but can’t. Can you help?

The truth is the big league mixers don’t share their secrets to anyone because it creates more competition for them. This is why your mixes never sound professional from watching tutorials and following them step by step. I recently got access to Billie eilish “ocean eyes” session and was able to see exactly what these big league mixers do to make the vocals sound so crisp and clear. As soon as I opened up the Eq console I was blow away because I’ve never seen anyone eq a vocal like that on youtube and trust me I’ve seen hundreds. it was truly an incredible experience to see exactly how they set everything up. But it also discouraged me because I realized that nobody who is that good of a mixer is just going to share his knowledge with everyone and it’s kinda like every man for himself. & to be on their level it takes years of hard work but most importantly it’s who you know that is willing to sit down and teach you all the secret mixing and recording techniques because you won’t find them on KZbin. And I was kinda mad at first but then I realized that if I knew what they knew I wouldn’t wanna share it with anyone either. And that’s just the reality when getting into the music industry.

Why add bad vocal to clean vocal???

Because when you add the “bad vocal” to the clean vocal you’re blending it in with the Fader to give the vocal more characteristics

How does it sound so clear no matter how many times you stack the vocals. You must have great isolation. By the time I stack it two or three times everything begins to sound to fat and thick
