vocaloid 6, vocaloid 5, and synthesizer v ai tuning comparison (the distortionist)

I don't think I'll buy v6 unless something REALLY impressive comes with it, but playing with the trial is fun! i just wanted to spread some information about the software! if you're wondering about the v5 ai tuning, i used the ai tuning feature on synth v and converted the svp to a vpr using utaformatix
song: the distortionist by ghost
vocals (in order): allen (v6), kevin (synth v), dex (v4 in v5 editor)

SynthV still sounding better, Kevin has such a smooth and clear pronunciation while Allen have some distortion that makes hard to understand what is he saying. But I am surprised that Yamaha decided to now make AI voices for Vocaloid 6, I wonde who will be next.

Agreed. My fav besides asterian and yohioloid (bc hio voices m e) Hes perfectly in between robotic and realistic without sounding uncanny (pun NOT intented)

I still prefer vocaloid over synth v, its more fun to use, more personal, asks for more stylization which is why it sounds worse out of the box compared to synth v synth v pushes for realism instead of personal tuning, they fill different niches and thats a good thing

Huh. Interesting to see them side-by-side! I think I like V6 the least from this demonstration, it kind of just sounds like a worse SynthV. V5 has a very different sound to it, more like classic Vocaloid. It sounds robotic, but in a good way where that’s the charm, if that makes any sense.
