Izuku not having a quirk was never the true reason for Bakugo's bad treatment of him. It's more because Izuku was the embodiment of heroism in spite of not having a quirk. Bakugo didn't have the maturity to realize exactly why he was so irritated with Izuku until later seasons. It truly shows how much Bakugo matured when he not only realized it, but openly apologized to Izuku. That would be a very difficult thing for anyone to do, and that apology scene was the thing that made me finally respect him.

Deku being quirkless is still the primary reason for Bakugo mistreating him. Bakugo's whole world view revolved around the fact that people with better quirks are just better than others (yes, he had a disgustingly discriminatory mindset growing up). That is why people with awesome quirks like his "deserve" to become the greatest of Heroes and to be worshiped by society as such. If Deku was born with a powerful quirk, then Bakugo would've been more accepting of Deku trying to be a Hero. In Bakugo's mind, becoming a Hero was like natural selection and being chosen to stand above others. It wasn't about sacrificing yourself for others without expecting any gain or recognition in a traditional heroic sense. That is why he absolutely loathed Deku who completely challenges his misconstrued perspective on the world and on what it means to be a Hero. So, he chose to reject Deku in turn by trying his hardest to break his spirit, hence the bullying.

Not saying this excuses Bakugo's past behavior in any shape or form. He was definitely a massive cunt (still is in some ways). But his warped perspective as a child is a byproduct of a systematically discriminatory society. Heroes are placed on a pedestal and worshipped like celebrities. Ranking systems promote a picture of competition amongst heroes as opposed to collaboration. And worst of all, Bakugo himself was praised countless times as a child and told he'll be a great hero just because of his quirk, never his actions, _despite_ his actions even. Frankly, Bakugo is what I expect to come out of such a fundamentally flawed environment. Deku is the actual outlier here (and not just because he's quirkless). I really struggle to understand how he grew up the way he did. But then again, that's the whole point of his character. He's unrealistically a hero true to his very core, to the point that society could not warp that no matter what was thrown at him.

Tbh, Bakugo's arc is the main reason I'm still holding out hope for Enji's arc to pay off in the end despite how unlikely it seems. While Bakugo's arc isn't the greatest redemption arc out there, I absolutely love how his character grows and matures. And I think a lot of that comes down to how a lot of it is him proving thay he cares through his actions and subtlety as opposed to being all "look at how much I'm changing" to the audience. Granted that happens a little, but as a whole, Bakugo really does feel like he's a person who grew into a better person. Again, it's everything that I wish Enji's character was. Granted, Bakugo's overall journey isn't over, and I have no idea where it's going, but all in all, the vast majority of his character is one of the best parts of My Hero imo.

As for the apology, I would say that there was more to it, as he’s the main one who directly stepped up to confront the pro heroes on their bad decisions with using Deku. Tbh, the reason why I like Bakugo’s arc so much is because of the smaller things (stuff like the times he trained with Deku/helped Deku with training), not inherently because of the apology. It felt earned because of all the little things that led up to the apology.

On one hand, everything said in the video is true. But on the other, I severely dislike characters like Bakugo. He emotionally, physically, and psychologically bullied and implied torture Izuki and told him to commit suicide and MEANT IT. AND before you all say he never tortured Izuki, look at them in the first several seasons, Bakugo tried to attack Izuku with explosions at literally the drop of a hat, explosions with nitroglycerin sweat at that. Izuku was TERRIFIED of Bakugo to the point he was developed a not so minor case of Stockholm Syndrome. Yet he is considered 'cool', 'badass' etcetera. Nah, just nah. People can change true, but they should only be given a second chance to do so and only if a certain line is not crossed without good reason. Bakugo had NO good reason and needed a dozen or more second chances in canon timeframe alone, so nah, he is in the same boat as Endeavor in my opinion. That is to say absolute trash and scum.
