It was considered the best performance of the night and ranked 13th out of all the Grammys ceremonies. The lyrics include “Criminal undercover” so hence the idea. It starts with a melody that reminds us of James Bond, but the idea is based on: * Now You See Me, because of the cards, but also that movie has scenes in the MGM Grand Garden Arena where the Grammys were held. * Ocean's eleven, which takes place in Las Vegas, but here they don't rob casinos but works of art; In the background you can see frames that disappear at the beginning of the song, with the dance break BTS song lyrics appear and then photos of the boys. The boys showed their talent and professionalism, two or three days before their participation was still uncertain. Two weeks earlier, Jin suffered a finger injury and had surgery preventing him from performing many of the moves. Days later J-Hope tested positive and was unable to travel with the group to Las Vegas, a week earlier as planned. Jungkook traveled half a day earlier for the harness tests, already positive in Las Vegas. In the week only RM, Suga, Jimin and V rehearsed, in addition to Jin. Jungkook obtained his two negative tests the day before the ceremony, and during the morning of the same day J-Hope was able to arrive in Las Vegas. So they were authorized for a while to rehearse the 7 together again, according to what they commented were 3 or 4 complete rehearsals, and that the bag thing had only worked out once. So they were very nervous. They did not win and a controversy was really sparked in networks for the snub two consecutive years indicating that the members of the academy are xenophobic, that they hate BTS, etc; and there was also controversy over two who criticized them but more out of envy than anything else. On the other hand serious critics have mentioned that yes there are very closed ideas in the members of the academy about what they do not know, so these specialists point out that the fact that this year BTS has been able to attend this year to perform a performance like this live allowed them to know their talent and abilities. RM referred to the controversy pointing out that everyone has the right to hate but that it is not worth getting involved in arguing and hating, it is better to enjoy life. Even both he and Suga stated that they did not travel to Las Vegas for the Grammys, that this was just a stop, they went to give their concerts. There were 4 sold out concerts at the Alligeant Stadium before more than 50,000 per night, with live play each of those days precisely at the MGM Grand Garden Arena; so Las Vegas, they became Borahaegas (really put up signs with that name), turned purple, BTS songs were played, theme hotels, restaurants, etc, it was the city of BTS and Army.

Its a primarily heist theme taking the cue from "smooth like butter, like a criminal undercover", "like a robber". The artwork on the stage disappeared and were replaced by their photos 😂. The score is bond-ish though. The card tricks is a nod to Las Vegas. Men In Black thrown in for good measure 🤣.

the guy who leads at the beginning has "ARMY" tattooed on the back of his hand, so that's what the choreography is about, the one that made you think about looking at watch

Yes, Valerie - I came to the comments to tell you the same thing! Be sure to save the date for the album release. And maybe.... place a pre-order? LOL Seriously, tho, if you haven't experienced a BTS (or any kpop) physical album, you need to see why they are leading the industry in the age of digital downloads. Plus, you will have photo cards to put on your fridge or in your wallet. 😆💜

They always go the extra mile. They only had a day to rehearse together as 2 of them were getting over covid, one hadnt long had his appendix removed and Jin was injured and couldnt do the full choreo. They actually sang 3rd it was the previous grammys where they sang close to the end but they gave the award they were nominated for close to the end to try to keep us watching (ARMY that is). We didnt trust them and most of us watched streamers.

But it's OK. BTS is up for 7 Billboard Awards & that's is the Real Deal since it's based on SALES, not just someone's opinion.

Only jk can do this kind of James bond stunt..he is fearless 🔥🔥🔥🔥n jungkook vocal always shine best when it's live.....jk truly a live vocal king....n our main vocalist indeed 😍🥰🥰🥰🥰 who will believe he was just recovering from COVID back then.......sooo proud of u jk ......

The thing with the kpop industry is that it can be compared to how NCAA universities recruit high school kids for sports. They bring artsy and talented kids into their companies young, give them room and board, train them in all aspects of their entertainment craft (and usually general education as well), assign them a team, a concept, a role in the team, often something like a team uniform, AND THEN they debut them on the public stage. Usually a 7 year contract is involved, sometimes infamously so. But by the end of that 7 years, they know what they're doing.

They didn't only sing in Korean. They've sung in Japanese for some time now and have a couple of Japanese albums containing Japanese versions of their songs and some original Japanese songs. Japanese ARMY have said their pronunciation is very good.
