This is last year’s AJL, AJL34. He won both Best Performance and Best Vocal trophy. For Best Performance, people kind of expected him to win because him bringing his wife into the performance, it gives romantic, nice impact to the whole performance. Plus it suits the song (the song title literally means Our Love Story) But everyone was taken aback when he was announced the winner for Best Vocal. Even Hafiz himself was surprised that he won because Ernie did such a great job, vocally, with Ku Bersuara. Maybe it’s fated that Hafiz won the trophy. But one thing I know is both are great singers and we should respect them. Hafiz is one of the most successful young singers in Malaysia. He won a lot of trophies from AJL , and that includes 4 win for Best Vocal. Hafiz is so humble, even after all the recognition, he still takes vocal lessons and still wants to learn even though he’s been in the industry for more than a decade now.

@@dzafry193 If you ask Hafiz himself, he would tell you otherwise. I'm sure even Hafiz expected Ernie to win best vocals. As a singer, you are aware of things like vocal technicalities. Hafiz is definitely aware of this, he's been in the industry for so long and has been singing even before entering the industry. I've been singing since I was 9 and for more than a decade I've always been aware of casual singers who are much better than me and acknowledging that is totally normal and should be encouraged because as a singer you need to appreciate other singers' talents and capabilities. Not everyone is equal. There will always be someone who is better than you, period. Technically speaking, Ernie should have won the best vocals. Disputing this only leads to more issues like this. It doesn't mean Hafiz is a bad singer and vocalist. 110% no!! Hafiz is a great singer, even when he's aged now he can still slay a challenging performance. We're not downgrading Hafiz when we say Ernie should've won. We're just trying to set things right. But like the original commenter said, AJL34 was Hafiz's rezeki/blessing. And no one should take it away from him.

Ernie range dia lebih tinggi, that why dia ada vibrato yg lebih kuat, transaction chest to head yg lebih lancar. Hafiz mmg x boleh buat that part sebab range dia lebih rendah. So its unfair to compare technic vs technic. Kalau laki vs perempuan dlm nyanyian, we just need to compare tone vs tone sebab women mmg boleh buat byk technic, melainkan that male has counter tenor range

I still got goosebump although I’ve watched this performance more than 50 times. This performance is beyond than vocal ability. His delivery is very amazing! Full of heart! Always love Hafiz whenever he is on AJL’s stage.

Honestly I don't agree when people compare his performance to Ernie's, because their songs are totally different in terms of mood and feel. Hafiz's song is more towards romantic, feeling in love. But Ernie's song is more on like taking revenge, finally speaking and standing up after suffering. I'd choose Ernie too, but Hafiz wasn't bad either so I was happy when he won. P/S: His wife isn't a celebrity so that's probably why she was a bit shy 😊 . FYI, she didn't even know that Hafiz planned to include her in the performance. The song is about love, how thankful he is that she's his wife.
