that F#5 is a legendary high note it was clear "fly" and has perfect vibratto in a way of "chest voice - chesty mix" other belters can do that but in a way of normal balance mix and very easy common heady mix. i know i am bias but it was true

Regine is both a natural, talented singer, and a technician as well. She’s been training even as a child, and that training went on through the early years of her professional career. She’s a pro in singing competitions. That’s how she got discovered and that’s how her career took off after representing the Philippines in an international competition. That is proof that she is indeed a technician when it comes to singing.

Ms. Saigon was not offered to Regine, she was invited to audition at Manila Philippines but she begged off because it's not the path she intends to pursue, being in stage. Then Lea Salonga auditioned and Cameron Mckintosh immediately found their Ms. Saigon. It was on both interviews of Regine and Lea. And look at them now, their both legends/pillars of Philippine music. They're both now written in Philippine history.

Lea owned “Kim” from the start. They held another Miss Saigon auditions years after it premiered here. That’s when Regine auditioned. The production loved Regine. But could not take her in. Because her voice was over qualified to be just in live theatre performances. That’s how good her voice, skill, and or quality was.

She was then later on offered to be trained in London, unsure if it was for the London or NY production. She didn't take the offer because her career in Pop was already booming and she said she couldn't live away from her family. Because of that, Jamie was sent to London instead. And then Jamie later on revealed that Regine was really the choice for the lead role. She then said in an intervirw that she never really saw herself as a musical or broadway/westend kind of singer.

Thanks for reacting to her. Unfortunately she doesn't have the whistle register. But personally, my belief is that she has one of the best sounding belts among all female pop singers particularly her F5s that's characterized by much resonance, are very rounded and unusually thick for asians. Her belts are comparable to the likes of Jennifer Hudson and some other black singers.

Her training with her father was intense. She'll submerge herself in a neckdeep water (take note, she's doing in the the seashore) and she'll have to sing and do vocal acrobats ans run. Her father told her it'll improve her rosonance, sustainabikity and power. And it did. All thanks to Regine and Mang Gery (Sir Gery, her Father).

NO. NO. NO. She was not offered a role in Miss Saigon. The original Miss Saigon production did not offer any role to anyone. Everyone auditioned for it. She auditioned for the Broadway production of Miss Saigon with Miss Dulce and Miss Jaime Rivera in New York. Both Dulce and Regine DID NOT get the role. I was and still am a fan and follower of Miss Saigon since their Manila run in 2001 and I get to play Tam in a school play. Gosh people get your facts straight and true! I love Regine but again, SHE WAS NOT OFFERED ANY ROLE for Miss Saigon simply because her(and Dulce's) voice does not fit the roles they are auditioning for. Not that they are bad singers. It's just that, accdg to Cameron Mckintosh back then, their voices are "too big" for the role. There are articles(reliable ones) in the web that you can actually read.

Wrong history, she only audition for Miss Saigon but she didnt pursue it further (Miss Saigon Audition is not a one day audition) Leah got the part end of Miss Saigon story (for receipts watch her interview on Magandang Buhay afternoon show). She went to japan first, release an album (My Love Emotion) and it was a success more than they expect, that's why she was known in korea, china and japan because of that album but according to her it was hard for her to establish herself in another country AGAIN, she feel like "proving herself again" probably because she don't speak the language, so when she was invited to be a popstar in America, she refuses, she wanted to stay in the country. Nope. Regarding Ms Saigon role, what Cameron Macintosh offered Regine was the West End staging of Kim's role AFTER Lea Salonga moved to the Broadway staging of Ms Saigon. When Regine turned-down the offer because she believe she cannot handle the daily routines of 8-shows per week of Ms Saigon, it was then offered to another Filipina singer, Jamie Rivera. Jamie & Regine are contemporaries in Philippine music industry roughly starting around the same age and time. It was Jamie then who played the West-End version of Kim instead of Regine. Lea on the otherhand is making waves wither Tony-award winning performances for the same musical. And as fates have it, Regine Reigne Supreme in Philippine music industry as well as in Asia

Nope,Lea Salonga (alternating with Monique Wilson) was the original choice for Miss Saigon and the role was never offered to Regine Velasquez. What was offered was vocal coaching/training in London after her special audition in New York (with Dulce and Jamie Rivera). It was never known whether that offer was vocal training for Miss Saigon or other West End Productions only God knows. Regine eventually declined while Dulce was found overqualified and Jamie Rivera assumed the role from Lea Salonga.

She sang a rock song ("Call Me") once in a live musical tv show, but she kinda failed to hit the right note or sustain it at the end. But it's fine since it's the time when her voice is suffering from acid reflux. Regine is regine, so she didn't need to impress us that much. Okay, let me just correct about the Miss Saigon thingy. Lea Salonga won the role of Kim through series of auditions. She was the original Kim and was chosen over Monique Wilson, a friend and colleague from the Repertory Philippines. As for Regine, she was ASKED to audition but at that time, she was already a rising star in the country and she was concerned that the momentum of her career would be affected if she chose to do the musical. But that was already after a year that Miss Saigon started running in London. So, it's incorrect, not to mention, unfair to say that the role was given to Lea because Regine declined it.

Actually, she was asked to be part of hollywood singers but she declined because she was told to hide her roots (as a Filipino). She has stayed, thus, she was hailed Asia's Songbird since 1989.
