I love the big collar. A very similar dress is on my list with a blue and white check, but a large one. Thanks for this vid!

Unlike modern patterns with multiple sizes in one envelope, the vintage style of patterns were realistic in the sizing of women's bodies and left extra on the patterns to adjust accordingly. I was taught by my grandmother and she said to buy a pattern by the size of the chest and/or the hips, everything else could be adjusted. I still have original patterns from the forty's and fifties, with one very much like the V90000. It's wonderful to know these patterns are coming back. You did a marvelous job on it and the navy check is perfect for it. I'd go for a good Indian restaurant.

Desperately miss fabrics and dress/blouse styles of the 50’s. Have looked for years to find a collar similar to one on your darling dress. Looks beautiful on you btw. I remember collars that were one piece inclusive of the button placard interfacing . Collar stood a bit taller plus ....no seam showing where collar and button placard joined. Hope that make sense?

Thanks for that review. The collar seems to work well when its done up at the neck. A narrower version for an open neck would be better. It's great to see it made up. 7 years later and Mildred's is still going strong. One of the best restaurants in London for mixed groups.

Try magnetic stays for your collar the large on-line store has them. I love your dress.

Lovely. Can you say which size you ended up making? It would help in gauging what size to make it up in, especially since you made it straight up without alterations.

I love that you told us how long you took to sew it. It looks lovely on you. I like the way the collar falls open on you. 😊

Love your version! The gingham looks great on the skirt. Did you see my version with the altered collar? Makes it more wearable for sure. Buttoned and unbuttoned! I'm making another one too. Great to hear your take on it

Hi there, thanks for the video. I was wondering in the instructions with the facing on the bodice, it only shows one side being done, but do you do both at the same time? That would make more sense then just doing one side.

I love the dress and you can wear any color of belt with your gingham dress, don't have to be so matchy, matchy, it just has to go, and white is a neutral! Okay, loved the video, have a great weekend! :)

Also love it on you, defo with the more open neck and the collar suits you. I wonder if a plain dark colour (black/crimson/navy/green) might work better than the gingham?

Love this dress. You always have amazing buttons as well on your dresses. Do you source them locally or online? I can't seem to find good buttons at the moment anywhere.

I adore this pattern! I would be willing to bet that my mother made this one back in the day ;) She was a wonderful seamstress and this classic design would have suited her taste completely. Love your gingham version :)

so true about the sizing. You'd think with KZbin and IG they'd actually LISTEN to their customers and make the sizing more accurate. As it is now searching for the finished garment measurements is a pain, and they're not always there anyhow.

The sizing is actually very accurate and normal, it's the ready-made retail companies that have changed their sizing over the years. These patterns were designed to be altered and also in this case intended to be worn with a belt as part of how to have proper fit at the waist.

The rolled collar is actually lovely on you. The scale of the collar, although you didn't seem to love it, seems to be right. The back of the collar rolls up the back of your neck perfectly and because it naturally opens to create the V shape is perfect. If it were a stand collar it may seem too sporty/collegiate. I think your choice of navy/white gingham is not something i would have thought would look good..... i am sooooo wrong. It is beautiful.

Lovely dress Lisa! 4 hrs? I've just finished my Agnes hack and it took me all day, my sewing machine was playing up, the neckband had to be reworked, sigh. But it's finished and I'll wear it tomorrow. Looking forward to the next instalment! Hugs to Poppy!

Just found your channel and I’m loving it ! Thank you for the clear descriptions and addressing the fit and ease of the pattern . I find the same issue with fitting always way too much ease and the I have to alter , etc . Again thank you 🙏

I'm loving your gingham dress and I think the collar is so pretty, it frames your face!! Where do you get your beautiful vintage shoes that go with these dresses? So looking forward to next fabric haul and seeing your Parisian shoot and your roof terrace!! so exciting. Take care

One of my favorite on-line shoe for a vintage look is Poetic License. I know they're made in the U.K. ( I'm in the states). They are expensive, but so well made and very comfortable, so they're worth it.

I agree with you about the sizing too - in a vogue V pattern I'm a size 24, but normally I'm a 16 😱
