Thats why they are supermodels. Their genuine persona is alluring and incomparable, why they spark curiosity in people and inspiration on designers, like muses. Now why supermodels like these ceased to exist after the 90s I cant understand, maybe because now theres more accessibility to the industry compared to back then?

Wow! This is a woman that’s healthy enough to be proud of herself when she should be, appreciates the art of fashion and photography and doesn’t “live for the camera” but let’s herself be in the moment and let herself go without fear. Sometimes people on here sound so pretentious. But she made me smile the entire time she was talking.

Gosh, this was one of my favourite Life in Looks so far! Thank you, Vogue! I’ve always loved Shalom because of her ultra feminine camp-sassy-fierce catwalk and maneirismos, but I am truly awed to see that she is also so articulate in her words, astonishing. Didn’t know it was she on the McQueen iconic rotating platform painting thing.

I love Shalom as a model but there’s nothing revolutionary about having a brunette on the cover. Brunette Christy Turlington had 51 Vogue covers prior to ‘96. Linda Evangelista was brunette in her first 17 covers by Bill King, Eric Roman, Patrick Demarchelier, Irving Penn, and Steven Meisel - all before 1991. And Gia Carengi had been on the cover of Vogue five times since the late 70s. Beverly Johnson who is both brunette and a black woman graced the cover of Vogue in 1974! Naomi Campbell was on the cover 25 times by the end of 1995, and that’s without mentioning Iman, Gail O’ Neil, or Donyale Luna who appeared on the cover of Vogue in 1966. Just saying. I don’t think this interview does much to make Shalom very likeable. She’s clearly got some narratives about her role in the industry going on and she seems a little snobby here. Sorry.

@llumdivine

I totally agree. Somehow she thinks she revolutionized the industry by being brunette in a vogue's cover or by lifting her arms while walking or by wearing Jacobs in the 90s .... Like... come down girl... you were just one more who were below the top 5 Super models of the 90s.

@@nv2605 Saying she got someone fired with a smirk says so much about her values. I don't doubt that the stylist was not up to par, and helping to improve the look of the film is an accomplishment, but it seemed less about her contribution and more about her power to get rid of someone she considered less than. Too bad.
