I have a discouraging group of church friends that would say anything to make me stop. I know that my friends aren't hate mongers. But they don't understand how a brain can feel mismatched in the wrong body. They have gender brains that match their assigned gender, I used that terminology in 1988 before I ever heard it on TV I feel like these tools help balance my incongruences , is that a word

due to living in FL I'm in the process of detransitioning (a long journey but one I've ultimately grown comfortable with. I know who I am and no one can take that from me and thats what matters) and so my voice is something I have been the most stressed about. That first mimic exercise literally put into context the FINAL piece I was trying to fix in my voice that no other video was able to do for whatever reason. Thank you so much, not the most ideal reason to need these videos but I'm grateful they exist

Hi Clover! Thank you for the video. Recently, I find myself mimicking any voice I come across that sounds close to the me in the slightest. Some days I’ve found I’m practicing for hours. It’s almost like a game at this point. I’ve found that it adds a layer of fun to the whole process that is refreshing. This channel has been a game changer for me. I can’t thank the TVL community enough.

thanks clover I was pleasantly surprised to see you! but a question I have is how can one counter when going light and not sounding fake or being too quiet? Or maybe you need some brightness to be louder and not fake sounding? I also struggle with being bright or having I guess a smaller resonating chamber, thanks again for the video!
@TransVoiceLessons
@TransVoiceLessons Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Check out our video on Fullness. It may answer your question! Eliminating the hollowness from a voice typically involves changing the resonance to produce a perceptually smaller quality. However, fakeness is much more complex and sometimes exists just due to new-ness with a skill. :)

I'm new to this, but from what I've found it's about practice and strengthening the cords. That doesn't mean forcing it though - it's more about gently strengthening over time. The video on this channel called "Voice Feminization for ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS How to get started now" is really good. The current video we're replying on is like tips and tricks, verbally telling you ideas. The one I just mentioned has a bunch of exercises to get started with. I've found it super helpful already, hopefully you will too. There's at least 1 exercise in there about finding the point where it seems like you can't make a proper tone - it seems like you can't keep the tone because you're used to making it with a heavy "buzzy" sound. I'm not explaining it well... but watch that video from the beginning and try the practices in order! It's so useful. And also, top tip: if your voice starts to feel strained or painful, don't push it. I know it's tempting to keep practicing. But one day you'll be able to do it without discomfort at all. You don't wanna hurt yourself and have to wait several days before you can try again! (Speaking from experience... sounding deeper for a few days because I pushed too hard was NOT the plan lmao)
@manoukirishanning

Beside the fact that these videos are véry helpful and I feel misplaced to ask for advice, as I also saw I can just book you (which I think I will do in the future but will save up for, so I can have multiple sessions if needed). Would it be possible to have 'tricks' like, sounds, which relate? The baby example is very reletable. I feel like I do get the hang of it but .. as if I cannot maintain it for the life of me. I will be practicing and feel, the right note/tone/sound and whenever I talk I just .. well, it comes up sometimes but I cannot hold it for it to sound fluently nice. As if familiarity pulls my voice back down, even when I am talking 'higher'. I thought at first it is a matter of training, perhaps it is? Maybe I need patience and to practice more? But for now it feels like I know how to hold a weight but I don't know how to keep it still/prevent it from falling, if that makes sense.

Great video, just want to say that Clover's voice is too low in volume compared to the music, which means I constantly have to turn the volume up and down so I can hear what they're saying and also not hurt my ears. Again, fantastic video, just a small complaint.

This isn't about weight specifically, but i've struggled with this for months now. What to do if im activating unnecessary muscles for size change? I learnt it the wrong way, and before i could realize it, i had taught my brain thats how small sounds are done... I can't speak for more than 3 minutes without feeling this tugging at my larynx, so obviously it won't do, but honestly i don't know how to fix this. People are telling me to just try from the beginning and to go for a relaxed sound, but this feels very wishy washy in the air, and subjective... Because for me, anytime i speak its kinda effortful, any sound i make is effortful.

@vis7139

I think that may be because weight and pitch are really closely linked. You can have a higher pitch with a heavier weight, but a heavy weight can give the impression of a deeper pitch... I'm still new to voice practices, so for me I'm treating the light/heavy thing as a vocal exercise, and when talking I'm gonna try remove a lot of the weight

you're probably going hollow, you could watch the video on fullness or you could also try to move slower in the direction of lighter and listen for when it gets into "falsetto". if there's a big break you could try to reduce that break too and get closer but not completely hollow
