My personal theory is that he doesn't speak in the Road Runner shorts because he needs to be as quiet as possible as not to alert Road Runner so he doesn't run away. This is also why he holds up signs to talk to the audience in case Road Runner's around.

Make sense but the main reason is they were originally made as Tom and Jerry parodies (Tom and Jerry have also spoken for years but typically say few words or no words in their cartoons )

Caleb Kuti “ruined their childhood and disrespected Chuck Jones.” Please tell me people aren’t actually using that argument, considering that Jones was the one who gave him a voice in the first place. People don’t realize that when the first Bugs-Wile E. pairing was released in 1952, only one Road Runner short had been released, and that was back in 1949. Wile E. Coyote wasn’t exactly an established character yet, so it was understandable that Jones would want to try using him in a completely different role.

I know right! It’s such a dumb argument. Experimenting with characters is what makes Chuck Jones one of the most memorable directors from Looney Tunes besides Wile E’s voice and his personality makes sense considering how that’s how one would imagine him to sound like. Like I said, people can get triggered VERY easily 🙄

I remember that the press release for "The Looney Tunes Show" said that Darran Norris was going to play Wile E. Of course, the character never had a word of dialogue in the entire series, so casting him was a moot point. Though I totally would get behind a Darran Norris voiced Super Genius version of the character. Kind of wish they had him for Wabbit, though.

It's a shame Wile E didn't get a suburban reimagining like the other characters. Maybe it would have been like in Wabbit, with him being Bugs' annoying egotistical inventor neighbor.

I have no idea why they backed out of using the character outside of the CGI shorts and that one brief cameo where he didn't talk. They probably planned a lot of characters out and just didn't find a good place for him. Yosemite Sam was their wacky neighbor, so having a version of the Super Genius coyote as their other neighbor would have been redundant. Best thing I could think to fit him in as a scientist or college professor, as they already had Gary Marshall playing the recurring doctor.

As usual, I consider Blanc the best, mainly because he had the opportunity to show off Wile E’s egomaniac side while also showing off his pathetic side near the end of each cartoon. My problem with Taylor and especially Karliak’s portrayal is that both of them seem to be showing signs of Wile E’s pathetic traits before anything ever really happens to him. I guess Karliak does get some credit for trying something that’s not just an imitation of Blanc’s voice, but I don’t find it to really be that fitting either. Alaskey, LaMarche, and Bauza are all very good replacements. Listening back to back, I feel that LaMarche is the most consistent with the voice (even though I hate the animation on those webshorts). The other two also are pretty consistent, even though Bauza hasn’t been given much opportunity to play the character. My ranking: 1. Mel Blanc 2. Maurice LaMarche 3. Joe Alaskey 4. Eric Bauza 5. James Arnold Taylor 6. JP Karliak

Daffy is egotistical with his belief of his superior star potential and thinks he deserves more than others with that and wealth. Wile e is egotistical with his belief that everyone should be in awe of his ‘superior’ intelligence. Both tend to fail and have their self concepts smashed into their faces. I love both though. Just for true record.

Pity that you didn't included the funny monotone "ouch" which Wile E have said at least twice, one after he got slammed by his bear trap, and once when he got crushed by a boulder and he walks away all squashed like a pressed accordion. It's so hilarious when he does say it in that "my ego hurts more than my body" kind of way. I bet that the voice of The Road Runner will be used for next year April Fool day voice video, like you did with Pluto this year, consindering he only has one line (though the way RR say beep beep/meep meep isn't exactly the same). Speaking of The Road Runners sound, from my perspective, I always hear "meep meep" rather than "beep beep", ever since I was a kid.

Having very little vision, the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote shorts weren't exactly my favorites since unless I was sitting right in front of the TV screen, I couldn't see what was going on. This video and the one before it gave me a new appreciation for the duo though, especially America's favorite coyote super genius.

I like to imagine Wile Coyote waking up in the morning to try to catch Bugs Bunny and when he fails at that he goes to the road runner set and there’s a box He unscrews his head from his body then reaches into his neck to pull out a tiny box with an even smaller speaker on with the whole structure labeled “voice” then he goes to his usual spot We already got a short with bugs having Elmer, Sam and Daffy on his daily schedule why not pull the exact same shit with other Looney Tunes characters Maybe have a short with Wiley and Daffy where the coyote says “look you have me seriously late for my meetings with Bugs Bunny and RoadRunner”
