Eric has done a great assessment. I was singing with similar problems and actually lost my voice, until I met a very old teacher who used techniques from the 1800s to restore my voice. Now it is stronger than ever with great tone and a much larger range!

@maiteanahi22 1. Always practice more even when you're feeling good about it. 2. Don't ever take anybodies opinion as reality if you love what you do. The reason is if you listen to people telling you how good you are..the mind says "well damn...I don't have to practice anymore" and if you listen to the negativity the mind says "well damn...I don't want to practice anymore". Follow your bliss..that is your direction in life.

I just discovered you tonite, Eric, at 3 in the morning. I have watched about 8 of your videos and I think you are amazing. Most of all I love the spiritual being that I feel you are. You have really discovered yourself. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself with the world. I am so DELIGHTED to have come across your video and for having the privilege of knowing someone like you (via the internet). Cheers!

My voice sounds soft also I agree with shadowstar97 its like I'm scared to get loud or something. Also my speaking voice is very soft and smooth I talk to my vocal coach she said I need to open my mouth wider when I sing. However, it was the first time I sat in front of a vocal coach in person.

I wish u lived in Oregon I had a vocal coach who didn't sound like he knew a lot about straining He actually said this to me "If u come back from a performance and you're not tired or sweating, u didn't do it right, it's not supposed to be easy" Which kind of scarred me I wasted a lot of money on improper training But man your videos are something else If I ever make it anywhere I'll recommend u to everyone

Hey, Eric. I love your videos, they have helped me out a lot. I am kind of in a conundrum. I am an amateur R & B singer, attempting to sing in a different genre. I currently joined a rock band, and I feel restricted because I want to be able to sing the more "edgier" vocal styles, without destroying my voice. But I don't even know where to begin. Do you have any suggestions?

please answer. I sing, and thought i was good, until i recorded myself singing(without any music) on camcorder. when i listened to myself directly in camera i sounded so differently ,weird and like a crap.and now i don't really like my singing, although i have singing instructor and when i went on first class i told her to be honest with me and say if i was good,or horrible, but she even told me that she had never heard anyone reach so low notes like i did. should i trust my cam and believe im bad?

Maybe it's just me, but I'm a singer also, and when I heard the Queen of Strain, Xtina sing for Hurricane Sandy victims, after she FINALLY got some vocal training with Seth Riggs. But I think she's making Seth look bad, because while fans like me were anxious to hear her NEVER HEARD B4 MIX voice, all i heard was howling and oversinging as usual. I don't hear Speech Level Singing in her 'new voice' AT ALL. What do you think? Is her voice salvageable??? Or is her vocal decline inevitable???
