Voice of Baceprot (pronounced 'bah-che-prot') often abbreviated as VOB - are an Indonesian all-female rock band formed in Garut, West Java in 2014. [1][2][3] Consisting of young hijab-wearing trio Firdda Marsya Kurnia (vocals and guitar), Widi Rahmawati (bass), and Euis Siti Aisyah (drums), the word "baceprot" from their band name comes from the Sundanese language meaning "noisy". It was chosen to represent the type of music that they play. they are a school band, just learned a music instrument in 2014, and they learned music from the teacher at their school. with limited musical instruments too, they are live in a village very far from the frenzy of metal rock music, initially they were forbidden to make music by their families, because there women were not used to playing music let alone rock music, VOB therapy persisted despite many rejections in the community. around them. they kept fighting and their video playing music was re-tweeted by Flea RHCP and Tom Morello RATM. This month they are on a European tour and next year they were invited to play on the Wacken Tour in Germany and Ceko Republic

Love these ladies, and all that they represent. I am glad my niece has been encouraged by her parents to learn to play music. The culture you were born into should not be a barrier. It is bad enough that many young people face financial barriers to their participation, but to not be allowed to play by your parents because of your religion breaks my brain. It is a complete misinterpretation of Islam as far as I am aware.

Hey Tauri - Excellent choice on reacting to these guys and great reaction too! And well done to your subscribers who recommended this fine band to you!! I'm so pleased that people outside of Indonesia have started to listen to this band. I only heard them for the first time about 6 weeks ago (this track). This is just so good. Aside from the excellent lyrics, this is simply a really good metal track. And the reggae-style change-up in the middle is awesome too. And I agree with you agreeing with them that religion should not stop people from listening to and enjoying music of any type whatsoever. (Although I honestly think the restrictions they face as women, are more a cultural than a religion thing). Either way, they are just so brave to do this in such patriarchal society, where women don't have the same life-chances and choices available to them as men. It's really sad, but they have actually said in their interviews that they receive death threats and face abuse due to their music. Apparently they are told all the time, that they should stop playing music...I read that once, after a recording session, they were attacked with stones wrapped in papers that had insulting message written upon them....And their manager also receives calls asking for the band to be broken up. I really hope they are able to continue. Maybe they will need to leave Indonesia though, if they are to survive as a band for any length of time.... Incidentally, their manager used to be their school guidance counsellor and introduced the girls to metal when they were 14. What a cool guidance counsellor!!!

Great Reaction! These ladies have guts. I don't think Indonesia is as strict as other Islamic countries, but there's a lot of pressure for women to fill a traditional role. It should be noted though, that they wear the traditional garb, they just want to be allowed to express themselves. And that is only right. It should be noted that they do have a very large following in Indonesia
